  • my keys and pads work with reason but knobs and rec etc don't work??? can u help

  • @aussiedaryl123 You have to make a template and assign functions to knobs and sliders. Look it up on youtube. I am sure there are plenty of videos showing how to do this, I actually never got around to it, but I'm sure my workflow would function better if i had mine assigned

  • does it work with reason 4

  • bow wow used that sample right? fck what was the name of the song

  • Is reason already a preset on the mpk49 or did you make that preset?

  • @wathuhbra its a standard preset

  • Someone know's how to put the drums on etc. im now to reason i used FL before N still but this program is better as fuck someone please reply!

  • I needa bootleg reason.

  • helped me out until u started playing bro

  • where did you get that sample... i need that

  • hey how do i do this with akai mpk25

  • quantize during recording didn't make things any easier

  • fuck you

  • how do i stop a slice playing the whole slice?for eg. u hit pad1,and say half way thru that slice playing,u hit pad2.. pad2 cuts off the slice being triggered by pad1,now the slice being triggered by pad2 lasts abit too long, and theres a bit on the end that is usually cut off when u hit pad1 again, now say i dont hit pad1 again coz i want it to just cut out at the1st beat of the next bar and have the beat playing on its own,but the remaining "useless" part of slice2 bleeds over to the next bar

  • Naw you have to buy recycle for 250 dollars unless you crack or torrent etc.

  • this is terrible

  • this is terrible

  • hey does Reason 4.0 have recycler?

  • @mannys737 No it's its own program, you have to pay

  • what a mess

  • just got my MPK49 bought to drop KONG on it thanks for the tutorial I need recycle

  • yo! would you mind sending me your fl studio preset? i noticed the mpk didnt have one right before i watched this video.

  • Hey Menace, can you tell me how to set up Dr.Rex so that the ends of my samples don't /won't fade or decay at the end?I have the amp setting right,I just don't want my samples to fade out, thanks.

  • What's your operative system?

  • @MiguelABRodrigues it was vista now i have linux on there and windows 7 on my desktop

  • @MenaceeffectZ do u use reason or any software concerning the MPK49 with linux? Because I have Ubuntu and I don't know if I should change to Windows, just because of ableton... By the way, can you help me? I have a MPK49 and Ableton Live but I can't use my piano keys to produce any sound with this, only the drum pads work... (this in a windows pc)

  • do you know if you can transpose the sounds to different keys?

  • no doubt reason is the best

  • software is so annoying like, when you got an idea in your head, you try an get everything set up, then as soon as you manage to get sumthin down youv forgot your idea.

  • @MistaMase102

Try smoking the 'happy cigarette' AFTER you jam, not during ;D

  • video helped out a lot. Thanks for posting.

  • I DONT EVEN CARE ABOUT REASON ANYMORE.PLEASE FIND ME THE WALLPAPER!!!!!!!!!!!

  • can u use the pads with the redrumer? Are the faders motorized? Can u use all the akai features in fl studio? pls respond :)

  • where you get dat background on yur computer from...

    dat joint nice

  • @tavonentertainment dont even remember lol dont have that laptop anymore

  • @MenaceeffectZ justin beiber is hot

  • Do you chop your samples in another software then import to Reaso Rex loop player, or straight into Reason. And how do you assign chopped samples to the MPK49?

  • cool vid dude was looking in to buying this mpd now im sure salute

  • Thanks for all the help! One thing though. I also use an mpk49 but couldnt find it in the midi controller selection window. There was no akai option. How did you have the mpk49 selected?

  • Just a question, once you chopp up your samples, how do you assign your chop on each pads??

    NICE VIDEO!!!

  • YOUU ROOCCKKK FOR THISS!!!

  • @Militia7 Cool i will try that ,they just need to make a mpk 25 template because right now im using a 49 stock template with reason 5 and its control commands are kind of off because the 49 has diff assignable faders and knobs then the 25

  • 2 manually map out reason 2 ur control surface of choice go 2 options--remote override edit mode and it will show u all of the buttons ect that u can control externally (u must have instruments and effects in ur rack). Right click on any of the little icons and select edit remote override mapping. Then check the box that says learn from control surface input. Now on ur mpd, mpk ect move the knob or fader ect and reason will automatically assign the mapping Save the song as ur starting template.

  • hey bro how did u set up the rec button to work with reason??

  • Hey man, so whenever I assign the pads to the corresponding slices in Dr. Rex I have to reassign them everytime I start Reason. I've tried saving the Reason preset on the MPK49 after doing this but it still reverts back to the default note assignment for the pads. Any suggestions please!?!?!

  • How do I make the sustain work?

  • Have you figured out a way to use the transport controls to change patches or instruments in the module devices like nnxt +nn19 or do you still have to it manually with a mouse? ...reason 5 just came out and it still dosent have a mpk 25 template only 49 so i been using the 49 default but theres more knobs n faders on the 49 ..

  • @getmajor actually man I havent... I really havent learned all the transport controls and things to really take advantage of my mpk... i just do everything old school lol

  • @MenaceeffectZ Yea same here ,i mean the basic transports(play, record,STOP,fwd etc) Via the mpk automatically lock if you choose you mpk as your external controller it has the 49 template in reason already (if your on 4.01 or higher) but alot of the faders are not locked to the right efx/lfos/oscilators etc ,i need to find out how to map them and save the preset ,i know it can be done ive seen it done ,i just cant figure it out lol

  • @getmajor I have a mpk 49 with reason 5. I use the rewind and fast forward buttons to change patches.

You go to options--additional remote overrides,

then choose select prev patch for target device,

    then click on edit,

i always check the box that says learn from control surface input so then you can press the button or tweak the knob or fader that you want to control that function with

Repeat the steps but choose select next patch for target device Shoot me a message if this is unclear

  • @TCoupe1 Good looking i figured that out in the manual i have to mess with it again ,when you use the rewind and ffwd transports does that mean you have to manually rewind and ffwd via mouse? if im in the sequencer i use the rwd alot button only so i can punch in on the fly my recorded sequences i think rwd and ffwd are the best options because the rotary knobs on my mpk 25 are 360 degrees and to get to a new patch you have to completley turn the knob 360 get a new patch which takes long

  • @getmajor yeah if you manually override the rewind and fast forward buttons you will have to use the mouse.

  • @getmajor if you go to options--keyboard control edit mode you can assign the ff/rwd to the keys on your computer keyboard if you don't want to use the mouse. it works just like the remote override edit mode.

  • @getmajor don't know if it helps, but I use control bank B and change patches using S7 and S8 buttons. I just switch them while the track keeps going.

I didn't do any king of assignment, these controls were set on default with REASON patch on MPK49.

    SLK

  • hey man, cool vid. but is there no plugin WITHIN Reason that allows you to chop up samples? Just so it does't mean opening up a completely different program to do it. I use FL Studio mainly, and to a lesser extent Reason 4.0. It's frustrating using the pads on the mpk49 with FL Studio because there isnt a preset for it. Whereas everything is much easier when using the mpk49 with Reason 4.0. But back to my original question, is there any kind of slicer/chopper within Reason? Thanks

  • @AntonioRepiso you need to buy the program recycle from propellerhead and you chop in there

  • @AntonioRepiso I use edison in fl studio to chop up my samples because i don't have to convert my mp3s into wave files like recycle makes you do. i use the drag sample button at the far right and drop each slice into a folder in the side browser. you just have to make sure edison is set to 16 bit depth or you won't be able to use the files in reason.

  • @AntonioRepiso reason 5 has it i think.

  • cheers gezzar! :D

  • hey mate wats required in terms of cables n sound cards to set the mpd24 up hardware wise???

  • @MentalyUndermined you actually dont need anything the mpd hooks up via usb midi cable... that is all u really need

  • also another issue i am having is when i try to set the mpd24 controls to basically be able to hit record, play, stop, rewind, fast forward etc, in the mpd24 it's still unresponsive when i try to press them, at least with my mpc i didnt have half the headache

  • @OGKaine ok that is an easy fix you have to go to the akai website and download another patch for the import controls and stuff then put it in ur reason folder and the your play and everything should work.... and I cant stress enough, research, research, research, lol... thats how i do it

  • @MenaceeffectZ Yeah i hear you, trouble is i moved alot of my stuff around and can't find the manuals and other stuff that i could just go to for reference, so i had to come on here, but i been looking every where for helpful tutorials and what not, i'll check out what you're talking about though g thanks. i subscribed an everything

  • @OGKaine no doubt man... the cool thing about the internet is anything you want to know type it in google or youtube and you can almost be sure to find your answer with a little bit of digging, but ill do my best to answer any questions that i can

  • @MenaceeffectZ Yo man that helped me alot fam, now it works!!!! oh its on now, i could jump up in down hahaha damn time to bang out these beats.

  • @OGKaine hahaha no doubt man glad i could help... I know how it is to be on new equipment or whatever and get frustrated... thats how i am with my mv-8800 lol

  • @MenaceeffectZ haha word up

  • yo helpful video, but i have a question, aight so i have my samples all chopped up and ready to go, but when i hit record to play out the samples into the sequence the note lane is empty, i wonder why that is, i am new to the whole reason stuff, i am transitioning from hardware over to software so its been quite difficult for me. let me know if you can shed some light on it fam ~1~

  • @OGKaine and im using the mpd24

  • @OGKaine Yeh I can understand man im mainly a software guy kind of transitioning to hardware. Ill tell you what if you subscribe ill help you... lol just kidding... Honestly im not exactly sure why that is happening. Do you have a real copy of reason that u paid for or did u get a cracked version, because a lot of times those have problems, you may just need a fresh re-install

  • @MenaceeffectZ Lol nah I own reason ive had it for about a year and im just starting to get into it now, because i have been using the mpc500 for about a year almost two years now, and i want to gradually transition into reason 4, but for some reason i dont know why but it wont let me record what im playing unless i manually click on each part with the mouse. it's quite frustrating trying to troubleshoot this stuff my g.

  • im using the mac version and i don't see the stretch percentage? How useful is it anyway?

  • @jjbro1 its pretty useful to me in the sense that if i dont chop it very well it extends a little and doesnt just cut off and helps me fit the sample smoother

  • hey man do u know how to sync the mpk49 with fl or abelton

  • Great job. I appreciate you trying to show us newbie show to get it done. Keep up the great work!

  • when i load the pads on mpk49 in fl studio 9 and play them back there not in order on the pads fpc fl 9

  • do you need to install something to use you're mpk?

cause i connect it 2 my pc, but reason shows still 'no midi input'...

  • Comment removed

  • thanks for the tutorial on the settings on the rex loop player i never knew that it made a difference. but it dose so your chops are smooth as hell. im gonna have to go back and redo some of my songs and make the chops smoother. Thanks Again on a great tutorial.

  • @mixxinmel No problem man glad it helped you out

  • @MenaceeffectZ Reason 5 is going to make this so much easier, do you think you'll upgrade?

  • @MrBrandonPeoples hey man sorry im getting back to you so late, I never saw this comment, but i haven't really read up on reason 5 yet but im sure i will end up getting a copy...

  • @MenaceeffectZ there's a new drum machine called Kong thats basically a virtual drum pad, so it's as simple as loading a sample to the onscreen pad or creating it with Kong. search for Kong you'll fall in love lol

  • nice man

  • Hey dude, what speakers are you currently using with your setup? :)

  • hella off. lol thanks for the tutorial. peace.

  • one Question? When i record a drum pattern sample on my mpd in the sequencer and copy and paste it i line it up next to the original copy and it leaves dead air when i play through it. It does not match up. Do you know what that is? Im sorry if i cant explain enough

  • Thanks, man! That was very helpful. I do use Reason 4.0 and akai mpk49 and always thought how can I get that cut off. This surely helped.

    Peace!

  • how should i hook up my mpd18 to reasons and still be able to use my keyboard

  • Protools is a DAW you idiot! It's digital audio init!!!!

  • your videos are really good. How do you make a producer name tag. Like when you play your beats and you hear your name slogan

  • how to u add mpd24 as midi?

  • im stuck just got the mpd26 and iv lost the pre set for reason how can i get it back i think i might have gone over it or some thing? and u eva use ableton ? im just startin out any tips or nice sample packs about

  • Hey I just got my first turntable (I'm tring to learn how to scratch) a Numark TTUSB with interphase. I want to get a mixer but don't know what to get. I have a budget of about $120. Good videos

  • thank yeah bro!!!

  • do you use mac or windows?

  • I use windows. I have mac to but dont like it too much right now. Im just going to stick with windows for the time being

  • @MenaceeffectZ how do you do it on fl 9 plz help

  • One question, if you could reply that would be bad ass, because you could save me some money.

Why do you have an MBox, but you do not make beats in Pro Tools? Do you just use the MBox for a sound card? Or is Reason better than Pro Tools??!?

    thanks bro.

  • @neBo503 you need an mbox to run protools and you can ReWire reason into protools. reason is a DAW or a Digital Audio Workstation, where as pro tools is an audio/video editing program. that means if you want you can make your beat in reason and then either rewire or bounce into protools to mix and master

  • Very helpful, thank you.

  • thanks man it helped out alot

  • dude, this is terrible.

  • Comment removed

  • i'm just sayin that if your going to make a tutorial at least have a beat that's on time. it's all over the place.

  • My bad fams i was being a prick. The way I took this video is he is just showing you how to use it, not making a hot beat. My bad for being a prick. I am working on that... sorry fams.

  • He isn't making a hot beat, he is showing you how to use the hardware and software.

  • can you use the mpd18 with the sony acid program.does the mpd 18 work with any software from like the early 90s?someone let me know I just purchased my mpd18 and i'm lost

  • you didnt have to change the tempo. thats really no use! you can just change the pitch. or change it in rexplayer later.

  • man i ben debatin on whether to get tha mpk 49 w/ reason or gettn the NI Maschine but i think im leaning towards the mpk

  • Got reason today- get the mpk49 tomorrow. Total 1300- yikes.

  • very informational menace good shit keep the vids comin ill have some up soon im grabbin the mpk61 on the 12th!

  • Didn't I see you on some other video bashing the Akai and praising the Axiom?

  • very nice info...WOW!!

    thx

  • Dude that help me out alot..

  • Dude that help me out alot..

  • lol

It might have helped to lay down a simple kick snare loop first and then play your chops then go back and flesh out the drum tracks.

  • I have both fl and recyle but I prefer to chop with recycle

  • cani do that with an akai mpd 18 too ?

  • the time sig is not 4/4 for this song

  • its a bitch when u get a nice sample and it ain't 4/4

  • if its not, you just make it sound 4/4! =)

  • hi.. two question (im new in this stuffs)...wich is the first program that you use-- something like "recycled" i understand that use it for cut the sound´s waves, im allrigth,,, and last question, im working with Mac.. do you know about programs to use my Akai mpd24??? thanks a lot...

  • Comment removed

  • ok thanks. that's wat i been usin.

  • what's the difference between audacity i think u were using when u were doin chops and Edison in fl studio?

  • the difference is edison is built into fl studio, with audacity i have to save the file after i make my cut then open it in recycle to chop and then load it into reason....so if you are using fl studio edison much easier

  • peace. great videos, interesting stuff. i've been thinking about selling my MPC2500, getting a MPK49 or some sort of controller, and add a DAW. I'd like to get into midi but not sure how to go about it. Got any suggestions? I'd like to link (pause) and build. holla!

  • man i dont think you should sell your mpc i have an mpc1000 and i like the feel way better than any midi controller. thats just my opinion

  • Don't sell it.Just buy the mpd 24 or 32.You can't beat the feel of a real mpc/I have both

  • @KristofferMarc sell me yuh mpc ill trade u my mpd 24 is brand new i payed 200 . and i give u some $ to along wit the mpd , it werks perfect hit me up bro

  • nice vid man, A little akward sounding because of the timing but a good intro to the basics of how to lay down a beat.

  • nice vid, thanks for the polywhatevr info, jus got my mpd24 today, 1. i hit the pads1-4, its seems to always skip chop 4 in my dr rex interface. is there jus sum tweekin i need to do fix that? 2. can u use the knobs on the controler to adjust the sound in reason or is that for another program

  • Make sure that on your mpd you select reason under the presets and then click the knob in. If that doesnt fix it skipping pad 4 then I dont know. you can use the knobs but to be honest im not really sure how lol i dont ever mess with them...

  • maybe there is no sound in the clip at that point?

  • oh man..

  • i heard that sample b4 wut is it again?

  • break up to make up

  • hey bro you should make a tutorial of how to really sample in fl studio like in depth i have watched your vids other ppls vids what i am wanting to learn to do is i see people play a beat they made and then they press 1 pad after another and it flows good i really want to learn but nobody gives a really good tutorial

  • Well, the problem with that is that there isnt enough time for me to show you in depth. I would have to post up 6 ten minute videos that are together to show everything and even then i wont get everything in. The best I can do is give you a template and the rest is up to you. Thats how I learned just take what people give you and practice. Im sorry man but unfortunately this is the best that I can give you.

  • @txfinest83 get reason 5 you can sample on the fly or LIVE 8
