This is at Manchester. I know the Winds there are bad at times but that pilot seems to be crabbing quite a bit on both Approaches. Also why Runway 5R (Probs 6R at time) Approach. Hardly ever used. Mainly 5L. Or maybe its because I'm used to landing there.
I witnessed a 747 Pull-up and fly-by at CVG. An awesome sight to see at 17:00hrs. Actually saw it happen twice. This video @ 2:31 is what I saw ...talk about pulling up and pouring on the power, Interesting sight. Sorry, not permitted to give the date it took place but was surely a sight to see.
I'm 15 and I'm still in school however over the space of a year I've really become fond of moving into aviation when i start my working life. I know alot of people my age claim that thats where they would wan't to work however I really think it's the way I'm going to go. Would anyone offer any advice if I'm to go about becoming a commercial pilot or possibly an Air Traffic Controller? This would be greatly appreciated and I respect all opinions. Also I have flown a B737 simulator. Amazing.
the pilots and aeronautical engineer are engaged in resolving the issue plus procedure, this is the moment when they refer to book so that is given priority. Pakistan Zindabad
obviously the port LDG LT not lit up... that's the reason.. pilot saw the warning on their DU or panel..so this is legit GA as their trying to figure out what happens & prepare procedure cx. if the pilot was viewing like we are, he will proceed with continue land..
Go arounds are very normal, hence that and many other normal actions it is save to fly.. Thank god in most parts of the world go arounds are not subject to investigations unless the PIC/ATC reports something out of the ordinary.
ATC needs to know why so we can anticipate and prepare for any further problems the flight might have. So shameelBaloch STFU yourself and know what you talk about before you enter a discussion, sometimes we need to know!
The reason that the pilot gave sounded like a load of %&#&.
However, to his merit, the second landing was actually one of the smoothest touch downs I've seen in a while on a 747.
It took him an awefuly long time to think up that 'odd' go-around reason. I wonder what kind of 'procedure' they performed mid-air to validate the instrument panel was the issue & to adjust the landing gear for the second attempt.
I think they just overshot the landing and labeled it for career reasons.

@yortko1 yes. they usually have it set so that the spoilers automatically actuate when the main gear hits the ground. there is enough elevator authority at that speed to stop the nose wheel from slamming onto the runway, the main point is to stall the wing so that the tires take on more weight and become more effective at slowing the plane down.
@Time1:34 the Pilot Mentions Unsafe Landing Gear light. (Also you can see the left landing light is burned out) Some aircraft, have means of manually locking the landingear in the event of a failure. The C-141 could have downlock pins installed while airborne should that happen. I don't know about the 747 though.
lol, all these people getting mad at ATC, if they didn't bother asking these questions then you should be worried! Managing air traffic like this is an extremely precise job and communication is literally everything.
Notice ATC repeatedly badgering the pilots with "What's the reason for the go-around?". STFU and let the pilots land the damn plane and then fill in your bleedin' questionnaire you bloody pen-pushers!
@ShameelBaloch Basically the pilot screwed up his approach and didn't give the reason straightaway (AS HE SHOULD) because he wanted to make something up rather than admit an error on his part.
@Quillons1 the clearly you forgot that part about both the pilot and the ATC have procedures that they have to do when an aircraft does a go around. take the cocks out of you mouth and pay attention kiddo.
the ATC fellas were dying to know the go around reason, the pilot quite cocky made them ask several times, in FSX you got your IFR flightplan cancelled once you don`t feedback, LOL
@gustavocavel why is the pilot beeing cocky?? He just wanted continue heading confirmed before he gave the reason... And maybe wrong to compare FSX with real aviation?? hehehe
@gloomyoutlook She needed to know the reason to ensure the next plane landing wouldn't encounter a problem (in case there was something wrong on the approach/runway). Until the pilot told why ATC wouldn't be sure. The next thing she wanted to know is what she could do to help the pilot. Safety is never taken lightly in aviation.
That was one INSANELY smooth landing. Its well known Pakistani pilots are pretty darn good but this shows why. Thats as smooth as Ive seen among many.
@XosrovTheGreat Letting the plane autoland itself will give, usually a rougher landing, and it gets boring, pilot's want to actually fly, not monitor the guages.
sorry if this has been asked before but i thought they lowered the gear about 10 miles to T/D so why wouldnt an unsafe landing gear light become apparrent sooner??
im not in any way suggesting the pilot was covering up a bad approach, have some have suggested,im just curious thats all !
@vordme1 Haha what you're saying is completely possible. However, if you look closely the truck on the right middle gear (our left) is not hanging as properly as it could (or at least it appears that way to me). However based on his second attempt (if the zoom is held constant) it looks like he was a little high on the first go around huh?
@LordNadir1 at a major international airport with planes stacked to the brim such as the one that a paki 747 would be going to, go around is a VERY big deal
I understand 93% of PIA cabin & flight deck crew are of Pakistani origin. In other words, are Muslim. Muslim's do not imbibe in alcohol. PIA operate dry flights (they do not carry alcohol on board). I have been unable to verify if it is true three PIA cabin crew were found guilty at Manchester court of being drunk. I think this is more likely to be a slanderous swipe at PIA.
I would have told the controllers to go fuck themselves. They are troubleshooting an emergency and they asked 4 times or so about the reason for the go-around?!? "Because I WENT AROUND!" I'd tell them when it was convenient for me. They make a nervous situation far worse. Let the guys concentrate on AVIATING first!! I actually got mad at that just watching it!
@Quillons1 Exactly correct. Flying the plane is the first priority. The pilots were professional, they didn't lose their composure. They answered when they were ready.
@Quillons1 Hmm... Let's think here... Why would an air traffic controller want to know a pilot's reason for a go around? Maybe because he is responsible for every plane behind that one and he wants to make sure the runway is safe for them to land. There are a million different reasons a pilot would go around, and more often than not, it's because there is something on the runway. Do your research before you make yourself look like an idiot next time.
@cchsnick2008 Oh look. Another one. You are an idiot. If it was a runway issue there is 5 miles of seperation until the next arrival. They can wait a minute or two until they're stabilized. Yes, there are a million different reasons for a go-around and at that level, they're ALL serious and don't warrant pesturing from a controller. So go fuck your hand and YOU do some homework before YOU look more like a jerk-off. And actually, it's not more often because there's something on the
@Quillons1 hahaha I am a pilot and a controller. And 5 miles doesn't last very long when you're dealing with jet aircraft. I can understand the pilot being annoyed, but there are a lot of reasons the controller could have needed that information. And in a case like that normally the pilot will take over the troubleshooting and the copilot will be for the most part free to do the talking. It doesn't take long to say "Pakistan 716 is going around, gear malfunction."
@cchsnick2008 Oh damn.you must have a stressful life.being a controller AND a pilot. You are my hero! Most go arounds is becasue of gar malfunction! alot is because of other traffic.its rarely because of "something" on the runway.Im guessing you are a stubbern asshat of a kid thats trying to seem like a wise pilot/controller and knows everything about aviation!! you should have a talk with H.M.Brattbak that is a captain on a Norwegian737-800!8 departures pr day! He says the same as Quillons1..
@ollo1982 Haha Oh no you guys got me... Forgive me for saying that "most" of the time it's because there is something on the runway. It is not most of the time guys. It is only some of the time so i guess the reason for go around is never necessary. The silly controller in me thought it would be a good thing to be 100% sure there was nothing on the runway.
@Quillons1 They're asking for the reason in case it was because of something the pilots saw on the runway or some other possible danger on the ground. They didn't ask 4 times, it was asked once by the tower, then advised that the asnwer should be given to approach, then approach asked at first contact then once more when the answer wasn't provided. Very professionally dealt if you ask me.
@flyingturnip1 Maybe so dude.. But the Tower asked one time: When you can,can you advise me the reason for the go around. Approach should have done the same. Just give the pilots continue on the heading, and await the reasons from the pilots.. no need to have nagging from the approach, when trying to do some serious work up there. think about the amount people they are responsible for!
@flyingturnip1 The reason for go around was actually asked 3 times. Once at 0.58, again at 1.22 and again at 1.28. The pilot had to be prompted into giving the reason. Although watchers have to bear in mind that he's flying a plane and the safety of such plane comes first before anything else.
the poor pilots sound scared, like it's for real now... were not in training anymore... were not in the simulator. this is it for real. right at :24 theyre thinking "holy shit we gotta land this thing!" then boom like a panicked chicken "pakistan 7-1-6 is goin round"...ATC seemed to be like [sigh] (again)... the pilot sounded as if the ole light switch routine will buy him some time... listen closely at 2:50 & you can actually hear somebody scream.
@CurtisTuch You are WAY too over-dramatic for the minor problem that was experienced here. And no, that wasn't a scream, those were normal aircraft sounds.
pakistan airlines had crashed in NEPAL due to bad weather around 17 years ago and also a thai airlines had crashed in a short span......NEPALI pilots r very experienced and good at their job as they have to fly around mountains and hills and they need to make quick decisions because as soon as u cross the mountains, u need to decendseveral thousand feets in order to land in the valley..
Ladies and Gentlemen This is your captain speaking. We're just going to try that again... Mike here threw me off when he yelled. "We're all gonna DIE!!!" But he was playing a practical joke on me, since it's my birthday today. Last hear he told me we lost cabin pressure and when i put on my mask, it was full of helium. it was a very funny voice when I was calling to declare an emergency.... Oh, That Mike. He's such a joker..
And everyone's life was saved by the brave stewardess with the bicycle pump . . .

Quillons1 1 year ago 7
@Quillons1 My thought exactly! :)
19MJ74 1 year ago
@Quillons1 Exactly correct. Flying the plane is the first priority. The pilots were professional, they didn't lose their composure. They answered when they were ready.
nemo227 1 year ago
@Quillons1 And you'd have been fired.
That's why people who play flight simulator are different from real pilots.
seban678 10 months ago
@Quillons1 Hmm... Let's think here... Why would an air traffic controller want to know a pilot's reason for a go around? Maybe because he is responsible for every plane behind that one and he wants to make sure the runway is safe for them to land. There are a million different reasons a pilot would go around, and more often than not, it's because there is something on the runway. Do your research before you make yourself look like an idiot next time.
cchsnick2008 10 months ago
@cchsnick2008 Oh look. Another one. You are an idiot. If it was a runway issue there is 5 miles of seperation until the next arrival. They can wait a minute or two until they're stabilized. Yes, there are a million different reasons for a go-around and at that level, they're ALL serious and don't warrant pesturing from a controller. So go fuck your hand and YOU do some homework before YOU look more like a jerk-off. And actually, it's not more often because there's something on the
Quillons1 10 months ago
@Quillons1 hahaha I am a pilot and a controller. And 5 miles doesn't last very long when you're dealing with jet aircraft. I can understand the pilot being annoyed, but there are a lot of reasons the controller could have needed that information. And in a case like that normally the pilot will take over the troubleshooting and the copilot will be for the most part free to do the talking. It doesn't take long to say "Pakistan 716 is going around, gear malfunction."
cchsnick2008 10 months ago
@cchsnick2008 Oh damn.you must have a stressful life.being a controller AND a pilot. You are my hero! Most go arounds is becasue of gar malfunction! alot is because of other traffic.its rarely because of "something" on the runway.Im guessing you are a stubbern asshat of a kid thats trying to seem like a wise pilot/controller and knows everything about aviation!! you should have a talk with H.M.Brattbak that is a captain on a Norwegian737-800!8 departures pr day! He says the same as Quillons1..
ollo1982 10 months ago
@ollo1982 Haha Oh no you guys got me... Forgive me for saying that "most" of the time it's because there is something on the runway. It is not most of the time guys. It is only some of the time so i guess the reason for go around is never necessary. The silly controller in me thought it would be a good thing to be 100% sure there was nothing on the runway.
cchsnick2008 9 months ago
@cchsnick2008 It's because of gear malfunstion. That is the number reason for commercial go-arounds....asshole. Now go fuck your hand...rookie.
Quillons1 10 months ago
@Quillons1 They're asking for the reason in case it was because of something the pilots saw on the runway or some other possible danger on the ground. They didn't ask 4 times, it was asked once by the tower, then advised that the asnwer should be given to approach, then approach asked at first contact then once more when the answer wasn't provided. Very professionally dealt if you ask me.
flyingturnip1 10 months ago 35
@flyingturnip1 Spot on. Quillons1 is an idiot.
dyockey 9 months ago
@flyingturnip1 Thank you... Someone who actually knows something.
cchsnick2008 9 months ago
@flyingturnip1 Maybe so dude.. But the Tower asked one time: When you can,can you advise me the reason for the go around. Approach should have done the same. Just give the pilots continue on the heading, and await the reasons from the pilots.. no need to have nagging from the approach, when trying to do some serious work up there. think about the amount people they are responsible for!
ollo1982 9 months ago
@flyingturnip1 they said a "landing gear light" but who is listening.......
t008er 7 months ago
@t008er That they did...but that wasn't the matter in question, thanks for your input though. Inspiring stuff.
flyingturnip1 7 months ago
@flyingturnip1 The reason for go around was actually asked 3 times. Once at 0.58, again at 1.22 and again at 1.28. The pilot had to be prompted into giving the reason. Although watchers have to bear in mind that he's flying a plane and the safety of such plane comes first before anything else.
mrdiddlydonk 5 months ago
@mrdiddlydonk Very well, I'll re-phrase: He was asked 3 times, but contacted regarding teh reason 4 times ;)
flyingturnip1 5 months ago
@flyingturnip1 no their was a landing gear problem.
kdmirza 4 months ago
@Quillons1 the pilot was bluffing. He obviously was stalling in answering because he didn't have a good reason to give.

the poor pilots sound scared, like it's for real now... were not in training anymore... were not in the simulator. this is it for real. right at :24 theyre thinking "holy shit we gotta land this thing!" then boom like a panicked chicken "pakistan 7-1-6 is goin round"...ATC seemed to be like [sigh] (again)... the pilot sounded as if the ole light switch routine will buy him some time... listen closely at 2:50 & you can actually hear somebody scream.
CurtisTuch 1 year ago
@CurtisTuch You are WAY too over-dramatic for the minor problem that was experienced here. And no, that wasn't a scream, those were normal aircraft sounds.
Kirov686 1 year ago
wow you can actually here somebody scream at just after 2:50

@CurtisTuch im sure that was NOT a scream lol but just a wind effect lol

Very unprofessional of the controller to hound the pilots for the reason while they are in the process initially.

pakistan airlines had crashed in NEPAL due to bad weather around 17 years ago and also a thai airlines had crashed in a short span......NEPALI pilots r very experienced and good at their job as they have to fly around mountains and hills and they need to make quick decisions because as soon as u cross the mountains, u need to decendseveral thousand feets in order to land in the valley..
