@GarrettGantt Retard, get your facts straight before you start commenting. It's as much of a BS rodeo 540 as a BS rodeo 540 could be. The backflip is a 360 added to the 180 = 540
@SifdegalBBQh4x I think we would all agree with eric willett on this one.. its called a backside rodeo.... the b rodeo 5 is a back flip with 540 of rotation...
@Jamarikle Don't throw it into a flip, just go in on toe edge and then lean backwards. The flip will get much speed when you pull up the board for the grab. The 180 at the end comes naturally or just tweak the board a little to get it in line for the landing. Watch different videos of this trick over and over and then visualize your self doing it and get the motion done in your head and then just go for it when you think you can do it. That's what I did and nailed it on the first try.
@brutolf What do you mean dont throw it into a flip? idk it looks like a backflip barrel roll with a 180 at the end. I visualized a lot and went on the trampoline but i guess im still not really sure exactly what im supoosed to do cus i do like backflips 180s.
@Jamarikle Don't throw like you do an a trampoline. It might make it worse to practice that way cause you shouldn't throw with your arms etc. to get momentum, just lean into the spin(except if your not trying to do it in a really small jump). Also you should aim your front shoulder down beside the tip of your board and not try to swing the board up in the air.
@brutolf Ah well i was thinking that ill just try it into powder, cus since u cant really swing into it you cant realyl do it on a trampoline right? did you practice it on a trampline?
@Jamarikle No practice at all, just visualized it and studied it for 2 months. You don't need powder, a good jump with a correct landing is fine. You will spot the landing pretty early as you can see and get a good feel for it and just let out or tuck your knees to adjust the speed of the flip, and remember the grab cause that will help you through the flip in the correct way. You can also check this video hY0ahKs-ahE of mine at about 1 min(If you don't want to watch it all)
@brutolf dont hesitate just come in like your going to do a backside five and drop your back shoulder and pop like your going to flip tuck your knees and grab by your front foot and look back over your shoulder
The backflip counts as a 360 so ad the 180 spin to it you get a rodeo 540 because there is 540 degrees of rotation there. Its just easier to call it a Rodeo. So a backflip with a 360 would be called a Rodeo 720 and thats when youll need to say it like that.
i know this is a rodeo but shouldnt the trick be called a rodeo 180? it basically looks like a barrel roll with a bs 180 at the end of it but i can kinda see why it could be a 540 :\
im a tricl proffessional, and that is a legit rodeo 540. it is 540 because rodeo the flip it self is a 360, and at the end you saw that he added a sketchy 180
The back flip counts as 360 degrees of rotation on top of the backside 180 at the end. 360=180=540... SO can all you people who don't know shit about snowboarding please shut the hell up.
"Rodeo" it self is only defying what type of rotation it is just like "Underflip". An underflip 540 is basicaly a backflip with a 180 and same thing for Rodeo 540.
@BertSnowBoards I thought so too at first. But when doing flips with rotation makes it complicated so the "flip" counts as a 360 then + the 180 otherwise it would be a frontflip 180 and that's not what it is(not by the existing definitions).
You're counting the spins and the name rodeo only determines what type of spin.
@Wazzuuup7 Totaly wrong, if you define it as a flip + 180 then it's frontflip bs 180. There you fail blatantly in your statement. I've done it on competition and the commentator said it was a rodeo.
@BertSnowBoards there is no such thing as a rodeo 180. a rodeo by definition is a "rodeo 540" or shortened "rodeo 5", or shortened even more just "rodeo". as bertsnowboards says, the "flip" counts as a 360 and the 180 spin at the end finishes it up for the 540. a 360 after the flip would make it a rodeo 7 and so on.
Tried this trick on Sunday..resulted in destroyed muscle and soft tissue, possible broken hip and some bone floating around my lower back, and i'm on crutches. But can't wait to get back on my board haha. My word of advice: Sick trick but don't screw up lol
@brutolf I didn't get the full flip, only half of it. and on the brightside ended up not breaking my hip. I was told that today also that i'm lucky i didn't break my STI Joint cause otherwise i'd never walk again. But i did rough up the STI Joint, destroyed Soft Tissue and wrecked Muscle, luckily it'll heal. But still on crutches for possibly 2 more weeks but still stoked to get on my board again! Not sure i'm feeling like trying this trick again after that experience though haha
This is one of the sickest tricks in my opinion despite how simple it is. I've been working on them on tramps onto pads and want to try them on snow, any tips for when I actually go for it?
@jerad96 Don't throw it into a flip, just go in on toe edge and then lean backwards. The flip will get much speed when you pull up the board for the grab. The 180 at the end comes naturally or just tweak the board a little to get it in line for the landing.
@jerad96 I don't know the names but the most natural would be to do it like me. If you do anything else like nose or tail it may mess up the rotation.
@WorshipMyBikeOrDie Yupp, but a backflip forward and that makes it a rodeo and the flip counts as 360 so with the 180 it's becomes Rodeo 540. I did it on the board before I knew the name of it.
There are some good tutorials on youtube. I studied videos and looked at the jump and imagine myself doing it for about 2 month. The landing reminds a lot of a bs 540 cork.
You should only go in on the to edge and then just lean back on the heel side at take of, no flipping just lean backwards and you'll speed on the rotation when pulling up the board for the grab. At the end the 180 will come by it self or by little twist. You will get some pop so don't go to fast.
thats just a rodeo

its just a backside rodeo... that's all it is so why does everyone always fight over what it is when they have no idea what they're talking about?
GoProCodyHD 6 days ago
I'd call that a "Ninety Roll". To do a poper BS Rodeao 540 you need to exit on you heelside.
Or is Ninety Roll too old school a name? :-D
Vegardma 2 weeks ago
@Vegardma back rodeo is off your toes with bs spin, front rodeo is off your toes with fs spin, underflip is off your heels with fs spin
