Very beautiful, thanks for posting! Another version that is worth listening to is Evgeny Suvorkin in Leiden; also very good. You can find him on YouTube when searching at:
Very nice piano playing. However, tango music requires a tango, not a bossa nova, feeling, with its proper raptures and dynamics. It is not classical music as well, nor a "baião", as Richard Galiano has interpreted...
Completely beautiful. A great interpretation and reimagining of Libertango, blurring boundaries, just like the great Astor did. He would've enjoyed this greatly, and that's the highest compliment I can give you.
You've made this Argentinian very happy with this. :)
powderpuff357, not everything is innate. A soloists musics is a reflection of him/herself, and their life experiences. Not that some aren't faster at learning and developing their own style and ideas, but anyone interpret things beautifully if they set their mind to it. Creative interpretation is something is something that draws off experience and love of ones instrument , not necessarily something innate.
Piazzolla himself would love this rendition of his amazing piece. He himself, a trend setter by excellence, would understand that for something to be truly great it needs to morph into people's interpretation of it...this is the fusion of Jobim and Piazzolla. In a way this is a tribute to creativity
Absolutely delicious rendition!! Can't believe I've not come upon this jewel before! But I will surely make up for lost time! Best wishes from South Florida, ~Terry
Another pseudo intellectual looser thinking he knows what should be done in arts and what should not. What else could you expect of some yankee danky doodle sack of shit ?
That's bull. You can work all you want and still be only technically correct. Creative interpretation is something innate, not something that's learned.
Talent sometimes means you learn a specific skill faster, sometimes means you can become better at it than most people, it never means you're born with the skill already developed.
@powderpuff357 But interpretation is completely subjective. What one considers masterful others consider garbage. I think the belief that someone is born "innately" better at subjective interpretation is one derived from arrogance or ignorance. No one is born knowing how to interpret music, they must be exposed to what is generally considered "good".
Andrew, yes, what a totally sensitive and cognitive comment you've made. I just know people who are technically good at what they do, but the feeling, the emotion...pfftthht. Not there. Interpretation IS completely subjective. I was just objecting to someone saying my opinion was wrong. No one's opinion is "wrong," per se, unless they're being an asshat about it. But don't you think some have an intrinsic talent others don't? I guess that was what I was trying to get at, but you don't agree?
@moustatache You're wrong. Diffrent person got diffrent predispositions, ex. short person has worse situation if going to become NBA player. BUT talent, as most of the musicans says, is only 5% while 95% is practicing. If you want to know musical hearing is depending on certain protein (coded in DNA) in your cells which have thousands of possible conformations! As it's written in bible: who recieved more, more will be demanded upon him. Not by the effects you will be judged but by your hard work
Wow, that's just all I can say. Never listened much out of the hip hop/ rnb relam until I listened to this song. This song is incredibly beautiful in all ways.
Absolutley fantastic rendition of the Libertango! I have one critique thought, the energy of the piece stays fairly constant throughout the preformace. Although this is a "jazzyfied samba version" of a tango, its still a tango.... Somewhere int the middle, the piece should explode with energy and passion, and then come down for a smooth landing... All in all... brilliant preformance though....

I beg your pardon, but no bandoneon, no passion, and no tango actually...An good try and an original version, but no flame. And tango encompass all this things.

They're perfect! I hear them playing from Beatles "Fool on the Hill", from the album "Tango Noturno"! It's amazing! I did never hear something equal in the world! Pay attention to the drummer, then to the piano player, then to the bassman, then to everybody! You can to hear them to the whole eternity!
This group absolutely wonderful! What a beautiful interpretation of such a moving composition. This is now probably my favorite version of Libertango.
