  • LOL that little bit of skunk funk around 0:30 :D:D:D:D

  • I've been getting a lot of comments about the Oleo video with Brecker and the North Texas rhythm section. I put a a lengthy review but it was too long so I'll just say I'll change my comment from "terrible" to understandable nervous.

  • @larrybeetree Larry nope not sarcasim

  • @nunchuckification Yea I listen to and played with some guys enough to know this was not the best I've heard and I can tell you why

  • 4:18

I hear that Rollins lick! Hahahaha

  • The piano player is John Ballantyne, a Canadian who has lived in New York for years.

  • damn i would be so nervous and the piano player killed it!

  • Piano player is a beast!!!!!

  • Thoose guys have a memory for life... they have played with Brecker.. :)

  • this has got to be the worst ryhthem section ive heard in sometime

  • @qiitxx wow you must listen to some RIDICULOUS rhythm sections then

  • @qiitxx sarcasm?

  • "I'd last about a chorus and a half" on giant steps.... YEAH RIGHT

  • His playing is so intense that only the left channel audio is present to prevent our heads from exploding.

  • love the eternal triangle quotes

  • Does the audience member at :17 say Skunk Funk?

  • @mobiusII yea that's whhy he plays the openeing to skunk funk really quickly before they start

  • @mobiusII Definitely.

  • Not impressed by any of this... dexterity itself does not make good music. Bass sound awful ploppy...

  • on bass... Toulouse LeBeat!

  • Kendal Kay is in Los Angeles and plays with Ron Eschte Trio as well as Jack Jones. He's a great drummer and a great person.

  • yeah the rhythm section is SMOKING!!

  • how old is the piano player in this clip?

  • @guysaxophone the piano player is about 21-22...

  • Listen to how much harder Brecker swings than everyone else lol......so good

  • I liked how he did some skunk funk in the beginning LOL

  • I think this is actually one of my favorite solos by Brecker. Usually for me (And maybe it's just because I'm not a good enough listener), Brecker doesn't really outline the chord changes explicitly. He's either play around in it, treat it modally, or just go way the heck out there in his blazingly fast manner. Yet in this one I can hear a lot of the changes. I like it.

  • his pentatonic lines are so dirty

  • What happened to the rhythm section guys during the next 25 yrs?. Did they make it?

  • the pianist is doing pretty good. I know he has a few albums under him and a couple of awards.

  • Piano player is Jon Ballantyne. He's a great player.

  • The pianist is killin~

  • Wow, there's a lot of Sonny Stitt and little of Rollins as well in this solo. Awesome stuff!

  • yeah he starts off alot like coltrane

  • lol funny. Michael Brecker is the best.

  • Awesome stuff...Michael you are and always will be the best.
