  • i bought a 1991 impulse totaled but i also had a 1991 geo storm i did the old switcharoo man im so happy its like im driving a car from the future made in the past :)

  • I hated this car when it first came out but then I drove one and it was a very nice car to drive. It has a lot of potential even if its older.

  • I owned an 86 Turbo. As a kid, it was my favorite car. Isuzu didn't want the Impulse to be built from the ground up as a new design. It was too expensive. It was built off the Chevy Chevette platform. Yes, Chevette. The suspension on the '88 & '89 models was NOT designed by Lotus. Lotus "tweaked" the suspension by changing spring tension, shock stiffness, thicker sway bars, & connecting points of the rear sway bar. The Impulse body & interior was awesome, but the vehicle as a whole was junk.

  • Giorgetto Giugiaro のDESIGN(*´∇`*)かっこいい

  • Hi! Pretty cool cars! Love the setup on them! Turbo, rear drive and lotus suspension! A real unique Isuzu sports car! I recomend to NOT remove the impulse sticker on the rear, those stickers should stay on! The stickers are out of production and generally super hard to get. My brother bought his piazza without the stickers on the rear. He is searching for some new to put on, but its not easy to find. My advice: Keep the badges on!

  • I own 3 of them and love them...L O L you will have so much fun with the car its a bitch to work on but with some help and a'lot of digging you will come a'lot of helpful info. Hit me up if you need any help with anything for the car or what ever...peace

  • A dog is truly a man's best friend. If you don't believe it, just try this little experiment: Lock your dog and your wife in the boot of the car for an hour. When you open the boot, which one is really happy to see you?

  • I'm pretty sure only the Turbo Impulse JR has the LSD in the US market, after doing more research. Oh well :P

  • u gonna drive it over sunday ?

  • I was reading a thread titled "Cars you almost bought but didnt" and there was a guy talking about how he owned a porsche 944 and a 1st gen impulse with the lotus suspension. He said the impulse actually outhandled the porsche

  • Any plans for it?

  • @FrozenCarnitas Since it's in such good shape already, if I get it I want to keep it almost stock and enjoy it like it is for a while.

I'd love to tint the headlights yellow and take care of those paint chips on the front of the hood. I also want to repaint the front grille black and maybe debadge it. (The isuzu logo, not the handling by lotus logo!) Definitely get rid of the impulse logo on the back if possible, the lettering is flaking off anyway.

  • @dtmbcorp Well, if you wanna "restore" it, check out Japanese Nostalgic Car dot com. There's a subforum in their forums for Isuzu, and since we didn't get many Isuzu cars here in the US, you should see some other Impulses on there.

Loads of good info, and the members are cool.

  • @FrozenCarnitas Thank you for the excellent link! There is a great isuzu enthusiast website called Isuzone dot org that has tons of great info on isuzu vehicles. One thing I found really interesting was that the stock CAI on the Impulse JR can be pretty easily modified to create a "ram-air" induction system by means of a capped PVC tube with a horizontal slit running along its center. It fits right behind the center grille. I love stealth mods like that...

Again thanks! Cant have too much info!

  • @dtmbcorp Cheers mate.

  • @FrozenCarnitas I've been reading posts over there for a while now, and it blows my mind how well spoken and intelligent the average poster is... Seems like most of these guys are quite a bit more experienced than the average Nicoclub member. Are you a member over at JapNostCar? I think I may have to register :)

    Cheers!

  • @dtmbcorp Yes, I've been a member at JNC for about a year, I think. I would post more, but I have no money for cars anymore, so I'm just a spectator at the moment.

  • @FrozenCarnitas It will give me an excuse to really work on my 240
