  • @FireofScorpion Thank you, that's right. Soon after WE were the ones giving loud gaijin the "stink-eye" :)

  • Welcome to Japan!

  • Hi, Ed. I'm so glad what you liked Japan. I'm a Japanese. But I've been out of the country about 25 years. I miss the food, natural and behavior. I visited Japan a couple years ago. And I stayed same hotel where you got. Tiny, ha.

I'm from Otaru Hokkaido Japan. Please go visiting when you have a chance.

Where are you from States? I was in Santa Barbara CA 21years.

  • @simplemindize Don't worry - we learned about train behavior very quickly. Soon after WE were the ones giving disapproving looks to other Gaijin. :)

  • @9mmed

is it true that non-asians are stared at in the street and the train?

sorry, i have just heard rumors

  • @Mikeybetts Based on my experiences and thse of my friends, it seems to depend on where you live. I was just outside of Tokyo, so I didn't get that so much. There's enough foreigners there to dilute the shock of non-Japanese in their space.

However, my friend in Takamatsu, which is on the southern island of Shikoku, found that she was often stared at, or that she got more attention than usual in public simply because she was a white chick.

The upside is that there isn't much animosity.

  • @9mmed As I was saying, the Japanese are some of the friendliest people on Earth, and like so many other countries, if you go there and are respectful of their customs and try to use the language as best you can, you'll find they'll be more receptive to you because you're not some freaky tourist, but someone they can respect because of your interest in Japan.

    Does that make sense?

  • VERY CUTE !

  • @SuzumiyaHaruhi0 Thanks! ^_^
