I recently upgradeing mine from the old R-57 idler to the new auto electronic idler. It's a much better system when working right and plus you can run a grinder off it meaning the machine powers up on it's own my old idler I had to use a pin to hold the throttle up when I wanted to grind which was a pain
it's suppose to do that, you should have a switch to either high idle or auto and when you switch it to auto when you strike and arc ir will automatically power up to either weld or to use a grinder and hwne the arc is broke it should idle down in about 15 seconds. The reason is so you have time to change welding rods before it idles back down. You can flip the switch to high idle so it will stay at high idle all the time.
ivee learned,..if that magneto aint working right ,..niether is the engine
