My shiba had a phase between 4-9 months old where he would keep running away and not coming back when called. No matter how angry you may be at him for running away, always reward your dog when he comes back. Only let him off the leash when you think the situation is safe and he's listening to you. Keep giving positive reinforcement (treats, praise) and never get mad at your dog. Your dog will learn to enjoy coming to you so much that he'll run away less and less often.
you have to make them want to be around you if you yank them around with a leash all the time they are going to feel trapped and once they taste freedome off of their neck their going to take off running give them lots of space
when you're walking your shiba, and you are somewhere that he can't really go far, gradually let the leash fall to the ground, and just keep walking. don't acknowledge him, and keep walking, but if he gets side-tracked, just call his name and say " [name], come!" and keep walking foward :)
my shiba is about a year and 3 months, and we trained her at around 11 months to walk without anyone holding her leash (although it is still on her).

How did you teach your Shiba Inu to walk with out a leash. My Shiba Inu will just run away when he gets off the leash. Please respond. Thanks.
