  • What a clever tool.

  • Also, if the head is left in it has more of an opportunity to release diseases into the bloodstream of the host, It's saliva and gut contents get squeezed out when you squeeze a tick to remove. Ticks are just frigging disgusting! Hate them through and through!

  • If the head is still left in it can reproduce

  • does it matter if the head is still left in?

  • And the tick starts nom nom noming on your hand.

  • dogs are nasty things over the earth

  • That's far larger than I would have thought.

  • i tried taking it off my dog but its scary cuz he .... yea someone please do it for me!!

  • lol this video has 0 dislikes wtf

  • hehehehe i made a video.. its more complicated tho XD Um... My dad likes to do things the harder way lol

  • we use oil to remove ticks off our dog

  • DESTROY IT FOR THE JEDI!

  • um no it's called get a paper towel and yank those little fuckers off.

  • @bsilverxo Not what should be done. It causes the tick to spit out more poison because it is knowing if it is coming off it will put more poison into the victim.

  • Ew I found one in my bellybotton when I went camping a few months ago..

  • @TheSkaterchick10 Thats nasty

  • @TheSkaterchick10 thaat is so fucking gross

  • Why did god create ticks mosquitos and gnats?

  • @Mr276361 I was told by a pastor that God did NOT create ticks, mosquitoes, etc as we know them. After Adam and Eve sinned numerous changes came about with the animals. In the garden the lions were vegetarians but after ward they ate other animals to maintain a balance. Ticks underwent a change also. They are just one aspect of living in a less then perfect world.

  • tank you !! it worked. I had to make the tool w/ a paper clip but i followed your technique.

  • Nasty little beasts eh?

  • Fucking creatures, I found one on my dog this morning and burned it...:)

  • fuck ticks! cunts!

  • i've never found a tick on my dog, she has real short hair, had her for 2 years, no ticks..

  • ewww now im itching my head!

  • What's the point of ticks? Why did Jezuz create em?

  • when i worked at the emergency animal hospital, i wouldn't because it made me sick, but the girls would take the clamps, and smash those things. because we had to make sure they were dead and didn't get on to another pet coming in. having so many farm dogs coming in, we would find them at random in rooms and trash after dismissing a patient. they just drop off sometimes and no one even knew they were there. nasty f'ing things!

  • if a tick is left to long and it leaves a bug nasty bump and the puppy is to young for tick meds what can i do

  • WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN THEY DIG IN ?

  • now i'll never get a dog

  • that woud be hella funny if the tick started to dig in the mans hand

  • ticks should all be hanged!

  • I hate pulling them out, I am always scared I wont get the head, cause it will survive without the body. But alchohal kills them fast, and we used to burn them off the dog. I only pull the smaller ones out, and I had to flood my dogs ears with alchohol because his ears were filled with ticks!! also, we use flea/tick collars in the summer and always use tick/flea shampoos

  • thats a huge one!

  • This is probably a sheep tick or hedgehog tick. It is mainly seep ticks we get here in Scotland. They don't seem to cause any real disease problems such as Lymes Disease(more of a problem in people and certainly this is on the increase here)

    Thanks for your comment

    Dave Finlay

  • I found one of these on my dog the other day, what particular kind of tick IS this? A deer tick/sheep tick etc?

    Thanks for the helpful video!

  • i like to make the tick suffer, put it in paper and burn it. i really HATE ticks

  • Thank you so much for putting this video up. It helped me when I found a wood tick on my cat and didnt know what it was or how to remove it. Now I check my cats regularly for Ticks. I have been using frontline and it obviously is not working.

  • Put that big huge tick in vinegar, they die quick in vinegar.

  • this disgusting i h8 dogs

  • Dont Put It On You! It Might Bite Ya!

  • screw ticks, there is no point of them existing.

  • I just yank it off of my dog and smush it with a brick.

  • @crazyjorge2111

Ticks cannot be "Squished" Unless you get something over 5,000 pounds of pressure per INCH.

  • Comment removed

  • lol it was bitting him at end

  • i just use my fingers

  • sad doggy least he doesnt have anymore

  • how fast can it like, bite and latch on to you? i wouldnt have held it on my palm

  • @RyanWeisel It takes a long ass time to get in to you. You'd have to literally just sit there and wait and watch it.

  • so you couldn't just squish it?

  • @crazyjorge2111 Tick's dont get squished. You can slam it with a hammer and it would survive.

  • @Iwatchtrek yes they do. My friends dog had a big ass tick on him, and he just squished the thing with his fingers and ripped it off.

  • @Iwatchtrek you mean that hard blow from cold hammer against block of metal wouldnt do the job? Are you kidding me?

  • @laitela01 Try it sometime. They are like rubber.

  • aughh so freaking gross why would god create such a thing

  • com on squezz it!!!!!

  • Why did he hold that tick? wasn't he afraid it could bite him? O.o

  • Exactly what I was wondering, too, teUnic0rn. It wouldn't be me physically touching the damn thing!

  • @teUnic0rn Ticks don't bite like that.

  • There's a tool called Trix or something like that, it's much better then the one shown in the video from my experience.

  • My dogs don't like that tick, when they saw it crawling on the floor they will eat it... Eww >_<

  • why would you want to put a tick on your hand???

  • drop them into some bleach

  • Why don't you just use your hands? that's how we remove ticks from our dogs

  • @BlabberMouth141

Squeezing them drains the blood back inside the victim, and any other blood the tick may have gathered. That can spread disease.

  • I learned also to use the cigarette burn as hold up the fatty tick and contact the rear of it and ouch it, and pull it off with tweezer. That is easlier rather than live and well stubbornness pull off. If ya are not smoker and find your someone! Ed

  • Thanks Susan.

It really was very simple to put this video together. We have a very successful grooming centre at the forefront of our complete veterinary health care package. Having my team of groomers constantly caring for dogs coats, gives a great opportunity to engage with pet owners and advise on a wide range of health care issues including parasitic problems such as ticks and fleas. Getting the best advice, from the veterinary professionals is paramount

  • @vetontheweb can it attatch to us humans o-o

  • @shalenaiscool ... Yes... Ticks get on people all the time.

  • Just imagine if all veterinary practices were to embrace video to help their clients in this way. Congratulations - if I had a choice of where I took my pets it would be a practice that added value like this.

  • Garlic and onions have the ingreadient thiosulphate that is poisonous to pets. No one should handle a tick or burst it, they contain bacteria and can spread disease. The tick should be pulled straight out without twisting.

  • I have a German Shepherd, after a hiking trip we found 6 ticks on him. We have flea/tick medication on him also. Will this only kill them after they bite into the skin? Also is there anything other than physically looking for ticks that we can do to get them out like soaking them in a bath?

  • that was on my dog.we pulled it off the old fashiond way.

  • pop that shit :D LOL

  • I have a scoop with a notch in it, works every time, head and all. Then they get the flame. I pulled one from my dog today and put my lighter to it. The little bastard exploded and flew across the room. I use Revolution on my dog. They still bite, but they die and fall off in a few hours if I don't find them first.

  • why did he put it on his hand when it could bite him?

  • i read this thing that says never twist it as that can leave the head in and can cause local infections...

  • ticks can suck up to 600x their own body weight in blood... thats why they r so fat :)

  • shouldn't he wear gloves?

  • me n my neighbor used to pluck these them out of my old chihuahua.. it was kinda fun, knowing we were relieving it..

  • i dont understand how he can just hold it to the camera all calsual and talk about it.. and not be scared that it might burrow in his hand... brave man.. XD

  • I bet he was fat and happy! :D

  • I can't understand how people have that curage to have a tick in it's hands and start discuss about it?!

I'm so scared of tiny creatures like ticks and i would throw it away in a fire or something where it dies lol xD

  • one time i was sleeping and itched my head. i felt sumtin in my hair so i run into my bathroom and their is a ick crawling around my head but not burrowed. you use ur finger nail to cut the head off and flush it.

  • seriously , what is the main reason these thinqs are here ?! whats the purpose !? i really wantto know !

  • @FarrahsxMommy To live like you and I. Ticks need blood for their babies, just like we need meat and vegetables.

  • I hate these damn creatures

  • the dog lol, i know their so annoying always need to wake up early in the morning so it can take a piss, in the night before they go to sleep, and they do nothing whats so ever.

    So damn useless

  • nah you don't feel it.. it only hurts when it starts digging in your skin.. I hear nail polish gets it off.. I didn't know at first, and I just pulled it off myself, no tweezers or any of that

  • wait.. would ever feel a tick sucking your blood?? and does it hurt removing it??

  • no and no

  • I would shoot that vile bloodsucker out of my BB gun...

  • Make sure you don't shoot your dog XD

  • LOL I course I would REMOVE the tick first - haha!

  • thats good you got the tick off

  • that looks gross - poor old dog

  • Yep

  • @mandscat

my dog is filled with them.

    i remove atleast 100 everyday!

it drives me crazy!i bathe him every 2 days but still they keep coming!

    nothing works!

  • wtf! r they reproducing on him??? cuzusually they get attached when dogs run by woods and bushes..thats disgusting though fuck maybe see a vet

  • @amirjon

i did go to the vet.

he gave me this thing called "freedom spray".

    it works!

the number of ticks on his body reduced drastically.

at first he did'nt knw what 2 do but after trying some varieties of stuff we got 2 knw this spray works gr8.

  • Lol I pull it with my hands..

  • Smart thing to do is put oil over it. My dad did it with our dog and it just slips of.

  • Fu+k wear some gloves !

  • i wouldnt put on hand it could bite u and start right then lol

  • lol i won't put that thing on my hand!!! it could bit it and start sucking!

  • jesus crist...that is one giant tick

  • I totally agree with that fourbeepaws. I am interested in your garlic approach and will be interested to hear how you get on with that

    Best of luck from

    David Finlay

    Vetontheweb

  • Not a good idea. You are likely to leave the mouthparts behind and squeeze the ticks abdomen which will force its meal plus any nasty bacteria from the tick back into the host.

  • Frontline is not 100%, I've had two dogs, which were regularly treated with Frontline and still had ticks.

The best thing is to check your dog regularly and groom with a fine toothed comb and if you find a tick which is attached, which may not be as engorged as this one, remove it as shown in this video using a Tom O Hock tick hook. The packs come with two sizes, a small hook for small ticks and the larger one as seen on this clip. Then a small dab of antisceptic on the wound.

  • Hi fourbeepaws

I am interested in your experience with Frontlaine and finding tiocks on your dogs despite having used it. This confirms my suspicions about the use of Frontline and I would agree that the tick hoock is the best way to remove ALL of the tick (including the mouth parts)

I would be interested to hear from anyone else who has had similar experiences with spot on preparations such as Frontline for flea control

  • In reading on other websites about people's experiences with ticks I'm testing out the garlic suggestion. Apparently ticks don't like garlic flavoured blood. As my dog will happily eat his food with a crushed clove of garlic mixed in I'm giving that a try.

  • laff if it bit his hand lol

  • thats a fatass tick, probably lives in the US, lol

  • Ticks are becoming more of a problem in the UK and there has been a massive increase in the incidence of Lyme disease in people. We have not seen this reflected in the pet animal population but best be on the look out. Tom O,hooks are great for removing individual ticks but FRONTLINE spoton tickacide is one of the products that can be used to kill them.

  • i hate them so much

  • Yeah...it is ... but is about standard size that I see in my vet clinic . The tick just feeds on bllod and then will naturally just drop off. They don't tend to cause much of a problem in the UK but tick borne diseases are quite a problem in other couintries : USA and the Continent.

I generally advise removing them with a tick hook. Insecticidals are messy and I am not fully convinced that they work very well and can do more harm than good!

  • that tick is HUGE
