  • I feel so proud of my country Hong KONG!!!!!!

  • @FpsMagic if you proud hongkong, don't proud china..

  • This song sucks

  • After Chinese cultural revolution, Chinamen Chinawomen = locusts, criminals

  • Comment removed

  • 14j3ketlgds = chink

  • @Johnsonhk100 So what?

  • @Johnsonhk100 Oi mate, there's no need for racism here. There's nothing wrong with the Chinese people or the people of Hong Kong, it's the PRC government that we need to be concerned about, racism has no place in the modern day.

  • ♦♦♦ ATTENTION ♦♦♦

LOVE HONG KONG AND CHINA !

    FUCK TAIWAN !

  • It's painful to hear this communist rubbish being used to represent Hong Kong.

  • @LordSpuggy No this isn't communist rubbish, this is a very great and powerful anthem! Hong Kong still belongs to China, it's actually good to have Hong Kong back to it's home country, away from the British.

  • @14j3ketlgds Hong Kong isn't and never will be Chinese, they're a great people who should have the right to choose their own future rather than have it dictated to them by the PRC. How is it fair that the British were forced into handing Hong Kong over to the PRC by overwhelming international pressure? I know you commies hate democracy but the 6 million people of Hong Kong should have been allowed to vote on their future in a fair referendum but you lot would never allow that to happen.

  • @LordSpuggy No I would of course allow Hong Kong to have freedom, but the anthem is to remember Hong Kong is still part of China. 1 country 2 systems. Hong Kong is part of China, Special Administrative Region OF China. It's Chinese, but uses a different system.

  • @14j3ketlgds So you'd agree with me that if Hong Kong wanted to leave the PRC, they should be allowed to call a referendum at any point? All the PRC is, as far as Hong Kong is concerned, is an imperialist foreign power with whom Hong Kong has nothing in common, yet this seems to be the only argument the pro-Beijing use to defend Hong Kong's place in the PRC as opposed to being controlled by the UK. If there was a vote pre-handover, I doubt the people of HK would have chosen to join the PRC.

  • @LordSpuggy I'd rather have Hong Kong in PRC rather than controlled by the UK and the queen. If Hong Kong was kept control under the British government, it would have lost it's Chinese traditions and culture. The Chinese government wouldn't want to have one of the Chinese places to be "westernised". Well the British Government lost a lot of their other colonies, so going back to PRC was a good choice. It's not like it's really in control of the Chinese government, it's just a SAR of China.

  • @14j3ketlgds I hope you understand that Westernisation isn't what the people of Hong Kong are afraid of, it's socialism and the dictatorial regime of the PRC. I would agree with you that Hong Kong should have been handed to the PRC if the people of Hong Kong had voted on the matter, but they weren't allowed that chance so as far as I'm concerned, the SAR is completely illegitimate until Hong Kong gets a vote on its future.

  • @LordSpuggy Well the Chinese government doesn't really govern Hong Kong now. The only things the Central Government concerns are things that might affect or concern Mainland China. Other ordinary things don't concern PRC. Even when there are protests against PRC in HK the PRC didn't use power against those protests. Plus PRC isn't evil after all.

  • @LordSpuggy Did the Chinese people get to vote when the British Government took over Hong Kong Island then later got the rest? No. Did you really know what happened? The Chinese government had to give the British Government Hong Kong Island, then the British Government rented New territories, Kowloon and the other islands, the date when the British Government had to return New territories was in 1997. In 1997 the British Government had to return New territories back to the Chinese...

  • @LordSpuggy ... but with only Hong Kong Island left the British part was just too small and so the Chinese also got back Hong Kong island too.

  • @14j3ketlgds The parts that weren't to be affected by the 100 year deal were the Kowloon Peninsula and Hong Kong Island, this area has a population of three million people, many countries have smaller populations than this, so it's hard to say that a territory with three million people wouldn't be big enough.

  • @LordSpuggy Wait whoops, I said the wrong thing. The British government didn't want to have a separate Hong Kong (it would've been like New Territories Hong Kong and Hong Kong) so they gave up the rest. Just search it up on Wikipedia, or just look at earlier comments. So I think it was the British Government that should be blamed not the Chinese government.

  • @14j3ketlgds Oh, I'm aware that the British government was completely pathetic in the negotiations for Hong Kong, I personally think that we were too weak and failed the people of Hong Kong.

  • @LordSpuggy I guess the British never thought of planning ahead well.. plus Hong Kong separated from the British along with other British colonies... Canada... India you know.

  • @LordSpuggy Well in just my opinion, now that China is strong and getting stronger, and well the border crossing between HK and Mainland China has been loosened, people from Mainland China come in and buy luxurious goods, and things, that helps the HK economy.

  • @14j3ketlgds leave hk alone.. we don't want mainland come into hk, we welcome all each other kind of ppl, too bad!

  • @d1gps15 1. Racist 2. Most of HK has already a lot of Mainland Chinese.

  • @14j3ketlgds we would kick them out, and or would fight with them, i will call english ppl help it out!

  • @d1gps15 Mainland People help HK a lot, they help the HK economy. So don't kick them out their also Chinese too. like brothers.

  • @14j3ketlgds too bad..there some each other hk hate u, I totally agree with some each other, cuz we like each other people, you cannot kick each other ppl who ppl visit come to hk or living hk..hk is freedom ! you cannot say it not freedom!

  • @d1gps15 1997 was a great year for both the Mainland and HK, HK reunited back to its Motherland. Mainland and HK ppl should live in peace and friendship together. HK people help Mainland people earthquakes and disasters, Mainland people help HK by buying luxurious stuff making HK economy excellent.

  • @14j3ketlgds I already knew what they do earthquake to other coutry, it's Japan! that's why.. why they do that ??

  • @14j3ketlgds nope, it's better since in 1939, because british had borrow from hong kong! I follow this..

  • @d1gps15 The Chinese government didn't forcefully take HK back from British, full story: The British bought HK island and Kowloon, and rented New territories until 1997. In 1997 the British didn't want to separate HK into two, so they gave up HK island and Kowloon to the Chinese. Now Hong Kong is back to its motherland.

  • @14j3ketlgds It was not bought HK because China lost the war against us British and teh Chinese officials had talks over the treaty but British wants a land so officials said which one? and the British chose the island and land opposite the island which was then called HK. Chinese officials agreed and peace treaty called the Nanking treaty signed.

Deng said HK is rightfully belong to China since start of Chinese empire but British stole it from them illegally not bought, he wanted it all back.

  • @DavBlc7 they're copy Nanking story, unreal!..

  • @14j3ketlgds yea british are not separate hk..but they're separate China!! too bad!

  • @d1gps15 British government also rented New territories till 1997 -.- so when it was time to give New Territories BACK to the Chinese Government, the British didn't want to split HK up.....

  • @14j3ketlgds well..hk can say ''need them'' mostly hk doesn't want to go back Chinese Goverments because they still badly and kill next each other ppl!.. also they unfreedom speech!..

  • @d1gps15 I'm not talking about human rights or unfreedom of speech. I'm talking that 1, the Chinese Government didn't forecefully take HK back, and 2. about the ecnomy and the good things CCP and Mainland people have brought to HK.

  • @14j3ketlgds I don't care.. I don't like they brought hongkong, leave hong kong alone, Mainlander are try being claim to hk!!..

  • @d1gps15 They didn't BUY Hong Kong. They didn't claim it. The British had to give back NT as it was the end of the rent, but they also gave back Kowloon and HK Island (because they didn't want to split up HK). And the Chinese government was happy.

  • @14j3ketlgds i don't care, we're hate ur gov!.. And we hk wouldn't consider with You Anymore!.. And We also take china some places, and they has payments already there place, we hong kong wouldn't be small place, know that u think hk are small place for life ever.. got a beijing, Cheung zhu, Gaungdong, and another somewhere which parts of china place are closely from hong kong place.. to stay away from china!..

  • @d1gps15 If you hate HK government why don't you live in somewhere else. HK and China long live together~

  • @14j3ketlgds well hong kong is my cities.. I hate China together with hk, because we love each others, also with british! Not you cuz you racist each other peoples..

  • @LordSpuggy Blame Mrs Thatcher and her own government for leaving HK to it's own fate. Even Today our government still want China for trade and economics reasons.

Yesterday Britain blames China because it prevented UN resolution on Syria getting through by vetoing it along with Russia but mainly our government still need her.

  • Big deal, it belongs to China either way :-)

  • puta que pariu...a china é um enrosco só, porque hong kong não pode ser uma cidade normal como as outras!? tem que ter um hino especial e um monte de coisa.que frescura...

  • ccp has more than 300000 internet propaganda dogs, its famous things (its call 五毛党 or 50cent army, etc), ccp`s more than 300000 guy is working everyday 24hours everywhere internet, they deceive their chinks and world people too, they are making fake comment everywhere internet, even youtube too, those ccp`s propaganda dog is try to operate pablic opinion, i can see so many those dogs in youtube, if you go any chinks video, most of chinks commentator is just one of 300000

  • @77777XYZ No they don't deceive the Chinese, and it's not chink, it's CHINESE FOR GOODNESS SAKE.

  • I was hoping for something in cantonese. Åland is an autonomous region of Finland and they have their own anthem. But I mean, I think it would be nice if HK had one too.

  • @Alschain Agreed. I wanted to hear the anthem in Cantonese but I guess no one ever did that yet. :(

  • highland cathedral should be their anthem.

  • @Toast1391 Geographically, Qing China did have sovereignty over the lands, but without British rule, will the lands we call Hong Kong today be ever used or even populated? Probably not. Qing China signed the island and what we call Kowloon today, forever to Britain. What we call New Territories was only leased to Britain for 99-years, which ended. They did not want to split HK up, so gave up HK to China fully. China has technically never had sovereignty over Hong Kong until 1997.

  • @Toast1391 No, 'HK' was never apart of China. Do you know why? The pieces of land, which is now under the HKSAR government's jurisdiction, never came to be known as 'HK' until British Control. Which means, 'HK' never belonged to China, but was born as a British Colony. There's a difference between a 'Chinese' and a 'Hong Konger'. Chinese is both a Nationality, and an Ethnic Race. Hong Konger is a Nationality (or Civic Identity).

  • @Toast1391

I do not think that mainland China is China .. it's just the occupied areas.

Even though you think so ..Anyway, not many people in Hong Kong to China as the motherland.

    Stop your fantasy.

  • fucking china

  • @chanwoochoi1 Go fuck yourself

  • British,Hong Kong peoples all along need you..

  • i hate china..

hong kong is not part of china:(

  • @mslovehk1 No don't hate China

  • Welcome USA to South China Sea and fight Chinese hegemony and free Hong Kong!

  • LONG LIVE MY MOTHERLAND!

  • @zangkaimikasu Let my dog fuck you real hard!

  • @lungkk @ZangFighter the pigs in a pig farm in Guangzhou would like to gang-fuck u MAGGOTS!

  • OUR NATIONAL ANTHEM IS "GOD SAVE THE QUEEN" OF UNITED KINGDOM! WE ARE PART OF BRITISH EMPIRE!! NOT THE STUPID COMMUNIST CHI-NA!!

  • @lungkk Sorry buddy, I have to say you are so ignorant, first, british empire had deceased. second, china is not a communist state. And third, no matter which country you are under, HONG KONG IS NOT A SOVEREIGN COUNTRY, SO THERE IS NO NATIONAL ANTHEM FOR YOU GUYS. So sorry for that, but you cannot deny that the flourish and prosperity of HongKong is just because of the good geographic location and the correct economy policies BUT NOT THE WISDOM OF HONGKONGERS.

    Thank you

  • @xiangfansb Really? Hong Kong part of china? how comes that they had their own currency? their own elections? Their own national representation in all?

  • @breizhcatalonia1993

Hong Kong's currency is hk dollars, have their own laws .. there is no army.

I was in Hong Kong .. I do not think Hong Kong is part of China.

  • @breizhcatalonia1993 Well a Special Administrative Region of China. This means: Own Administration, own government, own currency, own elections.... etc. but still the Central Government can control the HK Government, because HK is not a separate country.

  • Comment removed

  • @lungkk Actually the British Empire formally broke up after World War II. Hong Kong remained as a British Overseas Territory until 1997 when it was handed back to China. So no, your national anthem is not "God Save the Queen". And you are part of China. Which is only a communist state in theory. In reality the oppressive government and the obsession with the colour red are the only things which resemble communism.

  • Fuck China! Fuck Chinese!

  • @ZangFighter For what reason???

  • people Hong Kong fuck all China stupid !!!

  • Hong Kong Independence!

  • @TVgeinus90sSim Under one country - two systems, HK is independent!

  • @OnePeopleOneChina WITHOUT Chinese intervention

  • @TVgeinus90sSim Your statement is tantamount to saying you want independence for Moscow, WITHOUT Russian intervention. Dream on!

  • With socialism this city become an economic power. FUCK STUPID BRITISH DUMB EUROPEAN!! CHINA RULE THIS WORLD WITH THE WORD >>>>>M A D E<<<<<

  • @GravityPowerful do you think British are white devils?

  • @GravityPowerful But Hong Kong ISN'T socialist.... lol

  • @Udany147 It will be in 2047 if China still socialist by then!

  • @DavBlc7 China isn't socialist... it has a free market economy lol. Admittedly, the Chinese economy has lots of restrictions, unlike Hong Kong. Socialism didn't' make Hong Kong what it is - capitalism has and will.

  • @Udany147 Well The Chinese allowed capitalism to stay as well as basic laws and banning socialist system for fifty years according to the 1984 treaty.

Once HKSAR expired at midnight on June 30th 2047, then China may be allowed to set up socialist system in HK and Chinese law replace basic law. There were rumour that Guangzhou and Hong Kong regions would be merged. Hope this isn't true.

Hopefully Communist rule in China would end before 2047!

  • @Udany147 Capitalism has also made many African countries what they are now, lol. In capitalism, no matter how wonderful some places might be as a result of it, there is always a loser, and that is inevitable.

  • Comment removed

  • Actually since the people's budget introduced in the early 1900's by the liberals under David Lloyd George, Britain has been a socialist country. We have nationalised education, health and media sectors. As well as a very strong welfare system. Many countries are capitalist and socialist. Your confused with the differance between moderate socialism and extreme cases of socialism. During the last 97 years of British rule in Hong Kong we were a socialist country.

  • @Udany147 but without the chinese socialist economy, Hong Kong would be like Swasiland....former british but poor and without any economy. capitalism has ruled HK, but in the future socialism will overtake this. and thats good....Socialist China is not as fucked up as Capitalist Western NAtions after the economic crises.

  • @Udany147 Even so China currently is more capitalist than USA! US probaly has more restrections of the state(economicaly speaking) than Communist China.

  • @ImperialGuard9001 eh, you might be right, but US doesnt have nearly as much restrictions on the people as a whole. "Keep em dumb", thats what the Catholic Church said back during the Dark Ages... Thats what China says now.

  • @Nokitiman So not very different from US after all.

  • @ImperialGuard9001 Economically, China is superior. In America, we have to deal with over-taxation and shit. Still, Id rather be taxed 20% of my pay than be paid 4$ an hour on an assembly line

  • Can everyone shut up about Hong Kong's past? Like honestly when were Hong Kongers given the right to vote during British Occupation? NEVER! Hong Kongers don't give a damm about who rules. What matters is that there is enough to eat, to prosper and be able to do what they want to do.

  • @BookRocky24 True, Hong Kongers were not given the right to vote during early part of British rule but in the 1970's Legalistive Council or Hong Kong Parliament were formed and right to vote were given the ok - Patten, last governor of HK given Hong Kongers more power and made laws that can give HK more right to vote and that could lead to Hong Kong independence but given little time before the Chinese take over HK. Patten is still popular with HK people nowadays.

  • cont.... After the Handover Chief Execuite were not directly elected by HK people but handpicked by the Chinese and approved by both Chinese Parliament and Pro-Beijing HK parties. Hong Kongers were given less right to vote and that's why there are protests even on July 1st every year.

Protesters at last July 1st march claimed that Donald Tesung planned to dissolve areas where democratic parties were popular and leave areas where Pro-Beijing always win votes.

  • cont... Does this given right to vote during Chinese rule?

  • If the British never recognised PRC, now Hong Kong would be a part of ROC!!

  • @elijahhee unfortunately Britain recognised the PRC for a very good reason - we want to trade with China and put British business in the country, making profits and Chinese exported their goods to us - Chinese car company made cars in Birmingham as proved when Chinese PM made visit to car factory last month.

If not recognise China then there would be little or no trade.

  • Oust the socialists! Bring back the British.

  • @Xerxes845 I don't think us Brits will be back cos we signed 1984 treaty which we promised never to take back HK and we cannot break that promise - Our PM wanted friends with China for economic and trade reasons. He told Chinese PM on visit to London last Monday about Human right but Chinese PM told him to leave China alone in his speech. That means China will do her own way!

Chinese PM is noted as much ignorant of human right issue and perhaps HK issues too though there's no talks of HK!

  • As HK is now a sovereignty terrority of China, The Chinese will not permit the Brits to take back nor to break away. Just like China own Hong Kong now.

  • i love HK but im wondering how HK people think about being a part of mainland.

it must b a rude question so i can't ask my friends who live in HK....:(

  • Try watching this video with the audio muted and 獅子山下 playing in the background. It is awesome.

  • my home.

  • Dear old Hongkers, just isn`t the same since it went back to China.

  • Hong Kong's anthem is God save the Queen, and this will never change in Hong Kong people's hearts.

  • @samfisherman007 But HK children sung Chinese National anthem every morning at schools while they raise Chinese flags and they will soon forgot their parents sing God Save the Queen.

By 2047 very few people sing God Save the Queen and more people will sing Chinese national anthems as soon as they grew up.

China will make sure people will became loyal to their motherland by teach HK schoolchildren to love their motherland at schools.

  • @samfisherman007 but not it's children who were born post 1997, who sang Chinese national anthem in schools - thus making it their anthem by heart when they grew up.

  • Just don't buy anything to America. Broadcast yourself!

  • My anthem will always be God Save the Queen.

    Fuck the mainland.

  • @felnaris God Fuck the Queen

    Save the mainland.

  • @felnaris God fuck the queen.

    Save the mainland

  • @ky8828

get the fuck out of here you treacherous dog

  • @felnaris arrghh you...

  • u having a laugh u communist pig!?

  • I left Hong Kong 3 years ago. Can anyone update me on why they apparently want the Chinese Govt. out now?

  • @EddieTheFishReturns They are a corrupt, arrogant, useless and politically meddling bunch of wankers?

They are trying very hard to eliminate Cantonese, our mother tongue and our culture. Our written language and brainwash us, with nationalistic propaganda such as the insistence to play the China Anthem every day as if we might forget it! Also they are trying to block our goal of universal suffrage! We will get it, they will have to use violence to stop us! HK FREE FOREVER!

  • I think because china not pouring enough money in but they do push the housing market right up to the sky. citizens need to speed about/roughly 14 avearge wages to buy a flat(not included the limited cheap public housing) for living.

  • 14 years*

  • China will become part of Hong Kong very soon!

More precise, China will become the national zoo of Hong Kong, with mainland pigs and dogs inside.

  • @bluebear668: Who are you referring to as the "pigs and dogs"? It is unclear.

  • hong kong is part of china

  • Is Hong Kong an allie of China or uk and usa?

  • @joewtjjoewp1

lol HongKong is a part of China.

  • @LeThoem no it's an independent country.

  • @joewtjjoewp1

not really. It's officially a Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China and protected by the Chinese People's Liberation Army.

  • @LeThoem

HK is like Taiwan. It's self-governing, not internationally recognized as a sovereign nation, and both claimed by China. Except Taiwan has a military.

  • @Phead128

Yes, but HK is officially a part of PRC, they are always rising the chinese flag before the HK flag on official occasions. And the 5-Stars on the HK-Flag have the same meaning like on the Chinese Flag (Workers, Farmers, Army, Intellectuals under the governing of Communist Party)

  • @LeThoem

HK is claimed by ROC, but officially owned by PRC.

Taiwan is claimed by PRC, but officially owned by ROC.

Therefore both HK and Taiwan are like "ghosts" with autonomy like a state government, except no international recognition as a independent sovereign power.

  • @joewtjjoewp1

also this is the same anthem as the People's Republic of China because only the Nation "China" has got a Anthem and not just Hong Kong Region.

  • Éste no es el himno de Hong Kong! El himno de Hong Kong es "Debajo de la Colina León"(獅子山下).

This is not the Hymn of Hong Kong! The Hymn of Hong Kong is "Beneath the Lion Hill".

  • I hope Cantonese will not be wiped out by Mandarin in HK. BTW, HK was not democratic before 1997. HKers could never vote for their leaders, and they never chose Chris Patten. Patten was given HK as a consolation prize after he lost in the UK elections. Shows how much UK cared about HK.

  • @guiziguizi yes but at least the British did not kill the Chinese people in Hong Kong like the Communist in Mainland China!

  • @nextstep333 So each day people get murdered in Hong Kong for no reason?

  • @nextstep333 Well, in case you're forgotten the only people who kill many people in Hong Kong were the Japanese during their invasion of HK in December 1941. They shot them or used bayonets to stab them while they are defenceless - also British and Canadian soldiers were massacred while they were surrendering.

HK people were subject to almost total slavery with little foods while Japanese people came to settle in HK.

RIP to brave soldiers and people of HK 1941 -1945. In Remembrance!

  • @DavBlc7 Yes, like in Taiwan and other parts of China, the women were raped and sold as comfort women.

  • @nextstep333 Don't forget Korea, the Korean women too were subject to sex by Japanese solders there till both Koreans became independents in 1945.

Recently I heard many South Korean women sued the Japanese Government for money.

  • @DavBlc7 The Problem is that, why now? They should have done this and I think Japan was not punished enough like Germany. Japan did the same thing like Germany, I think they should be subject to the same treatment.

  • @nextstep333 Too true - the same as our former POW's who had be treated very badly so demanded money too - During a state visit by the Japanese emperor to London about a few years back, they and their families turned their back on him!

  • @HongKongIndependence

Direct elections for Chief executive in 2017 and legislature in 2020.

As far as I know, China has no reason to go against Basic Law. What will that achieve for China?

China is completely separate from HK affairs, she can play around with democracy, if it fails in HK, then it's completely bounded in HK.

If it succeeds, then it can be scaled up throughout China just like SEZ and market reforms by DXP in 1982.

  • @HongKongIndependence actually we got democracy back but only for a limited time cuz we do not want to be a communist country or city im a hk citizen but i dont kno if its a country or not

  • @theELEGUY They want you to think and feel that, but recently, the Beijing Rep. in HK tried to persuade Hong Kong Journalists to back up the Chinese Regime in Beijing 100% in certain events. That's not democracy. Sometimes, democracy is not how you feel, but what happens around you. Many felt betrayed when HK's so-called democratic party betrayed them. And a month or two ago, someone even wrote a pro-Independence phrase on a wall of the LegCo building. - 大樓外牆下午被人用紅色物料,寫上「港人反共立國」大字。

  • @theELEGUY 90後塗鴉 寫「港人反共立國」

  • @HongKongIndependence and welcome prosperity

  • UK DEAD!

  • @HKUK94

My great-grandfather was addicted to the Opium that the British smuggled in.

At least the Emperor of the Great Qing of China at the time did something good for the Chinese people, unlike the British which exploited Chinese for trade purposes.

  • @Phead128 And my People have brought civilisation to Hong Kong. We brought English, the language of commerence, and help the people turn from a small fishing village to an Economic Metropolis with common law and flourishing society.

If it is one thing that my Empire has brought is the wealth of many nations including Canada, New Zealand, Australia, and Singapore. As if the Qing Emperors did anything good. They took advantage of the Ming's weakness. That is barbarism! FYI opium is from India.

  • @nextstep333

My great-grand father had to sell his CHILDREN into slavery, sell all his land, sell all his assets, clothes, furniture, and wealth to finance his insatiable and unfortunate addiction.

You are bullshitting me if you think the Opium wars was justified.

My great-grandfather was addicted to that shit because of you guys!

  • @Phead128 Well maybe if your people allowed us to set a trading station like the Portuguese, maybe we would not have to bring the opium. Second, what your Great Grandfather did was his choice not the British Empire's choice.

  • @nextstep333

Fuck you. If your own nation doesn't allow opium trading, and Emperor of China requested that drug smuggling and trade stop, seize opium shipping, you declare WAR on China and take over one of her territories?

UK doesn't even allow opium trading, why do you fuck with China when she wants NO DRUGS on her land herself?

Fuck the double standard and hypocrisy BS.

  • @nextstep333

I will admit that Hong Kong example was used by China to launch her epic economic liberalization which lifted hundreds of millions of people out of poverty in the shortest amount of time.

British example via Hong Kong did help lift a significant portion of the world's population out of poverty in the shortest amount of time.

The countless suffering you British have caused via Empire building is phenomenal.

  • @Phead128 I do not see Hong Kong, Canada, Australia, United States, Singapore, or New Zealand suffering from the effects of the empire. Why can't you see that British rule has brought and formed the base of many countries. At least in those countries they have a strong democratic traditions, the rule of law, and English. May I remind you that people most benefit from a British Society rather than a barbaric society that has to gun down their own people to stay in power.

  • @nextstep333

I understand that the Britain gave HK stability during times of economic unheavill in the mainland such as during the cultural revolution, great leap forward, Japanese invasion, civil war.

But honestly, I do not think Imperialism is a good idea, and I do not think take over other people's property, land, and exploiting people for the Empire's benefit is good in the long term.

Invading China, you didn't correct any problem. You induced drug trade, and invaded Peking, did nothing.

  • @HKUK94 Don't think so cos Chinese will not let HK go for very very long time!!!! Britain will not take HK back. We promised according to the 1984 treaty not to do so cos Britain respect Chinese sovereignty over HK. You can shame Mrs Thatcher for giving away HK, not us.

The PLA is there to protect it's sovereignty in HK although they are banned from leaving their barracks even on leave unless they transfer back to China.
