  • I was present for this performance. They had to stop playing the song after the intro because their instruments had gone badly out of tune. This was their big number of that era so they started over for the cameras. I'd made it home driving back to Ohio and watched it that sunday on the MTEEVEE all nicely edited out and had a laugh.

  • the best band in the world ever x

  • really good stuff

  • nice stuff

  • He better looking with age and sounds great.

  • huge crowded house fan STILL!

  • Every good person I know loves this song.

  • wow such talent. I really hate the fact im 16 and i have missed this all. For music i wish i was born 30 years earlier.

  • @Narissarr Everyone says this, regardless of their age. My friends said it about the 60s growing up. What's awesome is that you live in a time when you can hear these older songs, watch the videos, or learn about just about anything you please with a click of a button. It's a pretty cool time to be a kid. Enjoy 16 while you still have it. Time starts moving a whole lot faster the older you get. It's a relative. Smile!

  • @Narissarr I'm right there with you.

  • @Narissarr Rejoice in the fact you can discover all this great music for the rest of your life and who knows even spread you good musical tastes to people of your generation:)

  • Hey, is this at Daytona Beach Florida? I see the waves out to their left???

  • @D1STANTSUN I think so. Spring Break 1987.

  • @D1STANTSUN This is Daytona Beach on a very rainy day in 1987.I could here this song from the front porch of my apartment at the time that was less than a mile away from the concert site. The historic Bandshell still exists to this day.

  • Best version I've seen...

  • Eddie Rayner on keyboards? Another who never quite became a full member of the group: like Mike Hooper, Tim Finn & (for many years) Mark Hart!

  • @anthonythirteen I wish I could remember the source where I heard/read it, but I was pretty sure the Eddie was offered full membership but declined for some reason.

  • @ChizelMonkee

I read somewhere he had to return to NZ sometime in '88 for family matters, and thus could not take the band up on the offer. As fate would have it, this opened the door up for Mark Hart to join.

  • @mccormack9 What a miss! Still, in a way it was better not to have 3 ex-Split Enz together in the new band. For this reason, I'm not sure that Tim Finn's temporary presence in the band was a totally happy one.

  • @ChizelMonkee

As I understand it Eddie had to return to NZ to care for his parents.

  • is it just me or does the drummer look like Bill Hader?

  • Amazing! you kept the video 20 years is so cool, thanks for uploading and sharing with the rest of us.

  • another incredible live performance video of my favorite band ever! what i would have given to have seen them once in my lifetime. Neil Finn was/is still the most handsome singer; he's got the sexiest eyes... OY! thanks for sharing this!!
