  • Why people are talkin about T-Pain!? there's a big difference between AUTO-TUNE and TALK BOX !!!!!!

  • took me ages before i got the title!

Happy birthday Roger! Gone too soon :'(

  • why did he give up that great synth for the dx? what's new is not always better

  • @syddiallo The DX was light weight and ran on batteries and pretty much had the same sounds.

  • does anyone have any full concerts of Zapp with Roger from the early 80's to late 90's? I have looked everywhere and really eager to see it. Thank you in advance.

  • @ROCKNROLLFAN search zapp live 1989 thats a great one

  • if only they had footage of Roger on guitar because BigRobb stated in waxopoetics magazine #35 that as good as Roger was on the talkbox,he was three times even better on the guitar. Roger was a genius.

  • when he put his hands on that tube it was si beautiful

  • not say jap

  • T-Pain isnt trying to BE like the great Roger Troutman. T-Pain said himself that Roger Troutman is the Reason that he is doing what he is doing. he is trying to bring a little bit back from the past into the present... all im sayin is with all do respect dont hate on T-Pain cause you think he is trying to copy Roger Troutman. R.I.P. RT

  • T-Pain don´t use the talkbox,,,,

  • Roger i miss you R.I.P.you never forgotten

  • Great dude

  • I LOVED DIS MAN! HE IS TRUELY MISSED!

  • man, 99' sucked...

  • A true master....

  • @whouwit24,I thought roger troutman died in 1995? I dont remember.

  • no, 1999

  • @crazyliz09 it was '99

  • What can you say about Roger? All I can say is that he was a genius, especially when it came to his sound. He was the one that signaturized the talkbox. No one could do it like Roger. He also was tight on the guitar too. He could play that guitar even without a pick too. Your style will never be forgotten. RIP Roger Troutman (1951-1999)

  • i have many Zapp and Roger songs also feat Roger if anyone needs a song from above and cannot find it i sure i can help or if you want to know a name of a roger or zapp song mesg me. R.I.P Roger.

  • I LOVE THIS GUY!!!!!!!!!

  • Truly talented!

  • T-Pain don't got shit on my man,The original electronic genius of Funk,Rest In Eternal Peace.

  • Damn Straight!! T-Pain Wished he could do what Roger could!

  • MTV JAPAN

  • i love the moog-talkbox sound!

  • It's a old minimoog monophone synthesizer. The legend of synthesizers ;)

  • What kind of keyboard is that?

    A moog? If so which?

  • Minimoog Model D

  • I know he is credited on 'The Electric Spanking of War Babies' - I think only avail as an import now. Killer album.....+ Sly Stone, and the P-Funk crew of the day/week. LOL.

  • Even in interviews you just feel the passion.I mean this man is not even credited in a lot of things he did.Yet he was just one of the greatest ever. And I love his love songs, because I'm in love!

  • What an awesome man and a delight

Gone but never will be forgotten

    Roger we love you

  • unfortuneatley his brother killed him after an arguement, then committed suicide - i live in dayton, ohio - we were all affected - Roger did a lot for our community as far as jobs, housing programs...when they tore down Troutman Enterprises it was like closing the casket all over again - Now - as far as PRINCE goes - anyone who says he has no groove is a tone-deaf turd.

  • why was this guy killed by his stupid brother,

  • The below statement was addressed to MUN7001, oh and by the way, Prince is full of GROOVE.

  • on what albums lol

  • Heres a few:Lets work(Controversy),Erotic City(single),Irresistable Bitch(single),Pop life(around the world in a day),Head & Uptown(Dirty Mind) Housequake(Sign 'o'the times),Sexy Dancer(Prince) and not to mention all the"grooves" he did for others, just pick anyone from the group "the Time" & you'll find the funk. The list goes on,enjoy. single) Pop life(around the world in a day)

  • roger is a god in my eyes. i only discoverd him 3 years ago, zapp and roger basicaly sums up every thing i like. i was always into rap music, then i discoverd him and realised were tupac and others got ther magical samples. am scottish not many people no of zapp were am from, but alot of folks would have heard his materials through other artists.

  • he does funk, you dimwit lol

  • i know that. rap music can be funky too, especialy if they sample a zapp beat. jazz funk to be precise you retard.

  • their is funk rock too, thats been sampled, idiot , so id ont know what your talkking, about, you know nothing , its really fine actually, at least your one of the few people who respect this music and your probably in my age group, 20ish

  • see why its comical to compare t-pain w roger? No disrespect to T-pain, but Roger Troutman was a Prince type talent..Out of this world.

  • Prince has no groove, shutup

  • Roger was so down to earth & talented. Of the many times I saw Roger in the 80's, one really sticks out . His performance at the Roxy in Hollywood was the first time I saw Him live. It's the night Roger found out his father passed away. He dedicated the show to his father & ROCKED the house! He played the synth/talkbox, bass, guitar, etc.Lakeside & Shirley Murdock opened the show, Roger, his son (R.I.P), nephew Rufus & the rest of Zapp ruled that night! Rufus has a gospel/zapp sound now .

  • and you allowed him to get killed by his own brother, faggot, should have protected him, i blame the old school folks, damn losers cant support shit

  • Who are you addressing this to? I am a old school musician that constantly supports real music which includes making it. There are powers that be in the music industry that call the shots as in what kind of music gets air play & video exposure. And as far as protecting Roger, Are you serious? Nobody was at the scene but Roger & his brother, so who could have protected him? Get some mental help.

  • 2 funky! can' nobody mess wid'it!

  • R.I.P. Roger Troutman!!

  • thanks for sharing this footage!!

  • i love watching roger's interview.i wonder if anyone's got the one when he was on bet's video soul 1987 i think.thanx for this post

  • the ending is what i liked the best. Roger doin a lil mix. Sounds dyn-o-mite!!

  • What a pleasure to watch man....DJA
