I have a 30th anniversary 814ce from 2004.....just recently stumbled upon some strings called "Clear Tone" dont be scared of an unfamilliar name they are amazing......my bass level and highs feel like they doubled.....for 14 bucks give them a whirl......
store it in it's case with 2 humidipacks. it really makes a difference and you can "hear" the difference when the 814ce gets dry (doesn't sound as clean).
ok , do you think if i was to look after my guitar i mean really look after it (humidity and fret wear) basically treat it like a baby, would it last me a life time?
@john814ce Hi John, I can't answer your question because there are so many unknown variables. However, theoretically it is possible. Your first line of defence is a good case. I like Calton fiberglass cases with the rubber seal. Store your guitar in it's case when not in use. Lean it upright, keep it away from any heating source, heat vents, windows, etc. Humidify once the heat goes on to maintain 50% humidity. If you fly, have a case which is arched top ANd bottom.
@BillEvans1956 It was advice given to me by my teacher in Spain, Andres Batista. It was how he told me to care for an expensive hand-made guitar. Shops will also store their expensive guitars this way. I follow my teacher's advice. All the best - Diego
Classy review. I was ready to buy one after watching but remembered I already own a 814CE,
My first impression after spending some time with mine was it sounded "glassy". So much so I searched for new strings. However, EVERYONE and I mean everyone LOVED the sound. So I just let the bright tone grow on me. This guitar when played hard will easily cut through most background sounds including the loudest of crowds.

@john814ce Just the term that came to mind to represent how the trebles seem to "shimmer" from the spruce top.

@DiegoDeOro1 Why do you say lean it upright? I always store my guitars flat.
