Welcome back to the official names of the the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN), Canadian Army and Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF). These titles have not been used since 1968 when the then Liberal government merged the Canadian Army, RCAF and RCN into one unified organization called the Canadian Forces striping the branches of their pre-1968 traditions and identities. The Cdn Army was called "Land Force Command", RCN called "Maritime Command" and the RCAF called "Air Command" from 1968 to Aug 16th 2011
**If I could please remind people to click the "Like" button if you do like the video, I have a lot of anti military and very liberal YouTube profiles who like to click dislike and such.**
@tmenator I was referring not to an official party within both Federal and Provincial politics and government but to the mindset more so found in the United States then here in Canada, if I was going to talk about that aspect as it relates in Canada I would have said NDP minded profiles ;). Thank you kindly for liking the video though.
@HeadSHOT604 *sigh*... You guys are still at this?
No, not much would be different today if we had bought the arrow. Except maybe there would be a bunch of conspiracy theorists sitting in their basements complaining about how we should have bought the Voodoos.
canadianmatt3....i look up to u and will be joining u on the front line when im age.. =) thank you for serving for this country and keeping it free =)
Wow. Perhaps you've already answered this, but where did you get all these clips dude? Are they just from all over the internet? I'm curious, because I want to see longer versions of some of them, if there is any. I would of joined the CF a few years sooner, if they made recruiting videos like this when I was in my teens.
@edastous Check out the Canadian forces website they do have some video on there. Some of the fighter jet video probably came from the TV series Jet Stream which followed people training to to fighter pilots at Cold Lake Alberta.
they have no fear, they serve with courage, they also serve without the necessary equipment. Our ships our old, our planes obsolete. thumbs up if you know we need those new fighters.
Trying to make it into RMC to become a pilot... does anyone know if the 20/20 vision standard is true or if it is just a myth. I think it could be true for fighters but not for multi engine or helicopters. my vision is about 20/25 that is why i ask.
@derpaherp123 You should at least go on army.ca instead of asking on youtube, I wouldn't trust a recruiter though myself. Lots of guys I knew at RMC joined as pilot but didn't make it due to high standards for vision so you end up in another trade or get out. Fighter pilots have additional requirements for the ejection seat etc, but vision standards are high for all pilot selection. If your vision goes down after you're trained it's ok though
@mode3sour i did check first but they are not specific they want you to apply so they wont put anything that may turn you away. But you advice does help it is not my vision change after i get its the fact that mine might not be good enough and that i may get rejected first that is what im worried about. I'm asking for people who may have experience in it. but dont get me wrong your advice that is great i thought the standards were different. and if get into RMC im not leaving :)... Thanks
@derpaherp123 I know the recruiters hide that stuff, that's why I said army.ca (a forum of cf personnel) all your questions have been answered ad nauseam there as many people want to know how to be pilots. The vision standard is high because they have a lot of apps to chose from and they want to spend all that trg money on the right candidates. Good luck
@toronto647 Well in war time like in afganastan they'll get vollnteers from infantry to and the regular crew chef to man the guns but in peace time the crew chef will be the door gunner so if u want to be a door gunner join the air and become a crew chef

What's the name of the background music?
P.S. I just wish that the research data from the Avro Arrow project survived the Diefenbaker disaster.

@canadianmatt3 Do you in your opinion think the Canadian Air Force would be more than it is today if the Avro CF-105 Arrow had not been canceled?

Sorry that our Armed Forces have been mostly forgotten during this election. They are now fighting another war in Libya as the Commander of NATO.
