Also, another cool game that is overlooked is Strife. That game had RPG elements, like you could go into stores and buy things. It also had a non-linear nature making it possible to beat the game w/o seeing certain areas. You got quests and an alarm system in town with the need for stealth kills. Awesome game Strife was/is.

I'm getting this game, it looks very much like Blood and DukeNukem3D. I thought that Blood was underrated and should deserve more praise than it has gotten. Blood2 is trash though.

For example, Mortal Kombat on the Sega Master System is far different from the Sega Saturn one, but its still the same game, and they are comparable since they are the same game, just like powerslave

i play this game on sega saturn version, way back in summer of 1999 (since i was 17/18 years old in 12 grade in high school.) brings me back memories and i pass the game with good ending by collect artifects hidden in all stages.

If I had seen this game when it first came out, I would have been in love. Now, I just can't deal with how primitive the build engine is. The buggy collision detection that has your shots hitting the wall even though your gun is in the clear, enemies that can hit you with melee attacks from 10 feet away, but are next to impossible to hit with your melee weapons.

They need to release the source code to this and Blood so that people can write source ports.

These old DOS games had not very good 3d graphics, but they made really doog 2d illusions to make objects look 3d. Eg, the bricks that you exploded

It's illegal. I would suggest contacting the current copyright owner and requesting that they re-release it (a lot of this going on right now with GameTap, Xbox Live Arcade, etc.). Not to mention that you could easily buy a used copy for DOS or PSX on eBay.

The DOS version is completely different from both console versions (and is supposedly inferior), which are somewhat different from each other. I've heard that the Saturn's version's better than the PS1's, although don't hold me to that - I've only played the Saturn version.

Wouldn't surprise me, though. The development team did some ace ports for that console - Duke3D and Quake, namely. The PS1 didn't even get Quake... Quake 2, sure, but not the first.
