It's more simple to use the Bass Drum instead of the high tom and it's more musical to use 2 low tom at the end instead of one. ; -)

Exactly! The ring is exactly what the drum is supposed to do. It really hurts me when people cut the ring out..it's all about tuning. the ring won't last long and resonate out of tune if it's tuned properly.
