This is an example of a band that shouldn't have gotten famous. Yes, the deserved it, but once you hit the mainstream, well, look what happened to their 3rd album. It was merely a shadow (still good) of the old Shins. And now they're broken up probably for good.

@zachandthemachines I'm sorry, but Wincing the Night Away has some of Mercers best work, melodically and lyrically. Turn on Me and Sleeping Lessons are my pick of the bunch. All great bands go through rough patches, spend enough time with anyone and tempers flare. They're on hiatus at the moment, and I'm sure once this cool musical romance between James and Danger Mouse fizzles out that The Shins will be back. :)

Yeah the fans have come to love Marty and Jesse but James wanted a new sound and so he got two new guys that he thought were going to help him get it.
