@Rostamike nope. i am sure its not. Ladyboys in Thailand are mostly in tourist destination like Pattaya. Thats where they mostly where they assemble. Of course, there are probably ladyboy in the vid but i am sure its less than 50%
I was in Bangkok during Songkran this year (2010) and it was the most fun I've had with water in years. And notice how, in every video about Songkran you see, how everyone's smiling all the time. It's a joyous occasion and, well, it's a good way to stay cool during the stifling heat and humidity of Bangkok in April.
@dswarthout I saw a guy chase after another guy with a knife at a song kran festival once. It's not always joy and fun... well, 99.99% of the time :)
But every joyous occasion has it's dark side and song kran has one too. And it's the traffic accidents. Wet roads, ice cold water hitting people speeding on motorcyclists. A lot of fatalities. :/
thai people are friendly . some country people, when you are taking video and face them . they'll come over are scold you , some even wanted to beat you .
This clip is good, however it does begin to capture the fun and exciting energy of SK. Children, grandparents and everyone in between throw water. there are no exceptions or age limits. in Chaing Mai its "full on" for 4 days. Amazing Fun!
The water is usually clean, however, some go to the river or stagnant lakes to fill up their water containers (trash cans). You know they did that when the water hits you and smells like sewer water. 98% is clean though. If you get hit with a smelly water bomb you just rinse off - well, and throw it at those people HARD and pick the water that's the coldest - we use 30-50 lb ice chunks in the trash cans to keep it really icy cold.
a terrible holiday and just another example of the inability of thais to think. yea, throw water into peoples faces as they drive by on a motorcycle-good idea! my gf got pinned down by 5 thai guys who tried to molest her. EVERY OTHER THAI PERSON JUST STOOD THERE AND LAUGHED! i go to help her and more come to fight me! then the cops come and demand i pay them 5000 baht. (ur police stations should be called "the entrepreneurs club") . thailand=the land of FAKE smiles.
this is purely to celebrate our new year... its like washing out the old and cleaning everything u know and powder is just for fun ahhaha and yea the waters usually from liek taps and stuff and u don't really stop it depends if u want to or not but people up to ur grand father and grad mothers age still do it XD i love it

Dang! That was wacky! Please tell me this water's clean...
Wht age do they stop doing this? I noticed there weren't any adult-types doing it. What's the significance of the powder?
