@Bzdi138 circular motion builds momentum, the goal is to circle around the enemy but keep facing them and stay locked onto them, the rotation allows for very free mechanical addition of forces. when someone walks around someone, they present a different side of themselves to the person they walk around, in bagua, they do not do this, they remain facing the enemy as they circle and they only face a different way while rotationg into an attack or a counter. Each move is a defense/counter/attack
not at all, originally the "founder" of bagua wouldn't let anyone above master level learn it, and the differen't practitioners brough their own styles to the plate, thus the differen't emphases of the differen't styles, but now it doesn't matter. It does help though :D
hold hold it hold it guys there is adivision in styles not every one is right but not every one is wrong the steping doen't have to be of one kind these videos just show that there are alot more... if you want to find yourself right study the other 3 too...
This is low quality. The stepping is wrong first. When you walk the bagua circle, you step, and then before you set your foot down, extend another 4-5". It should be long, soft, and agile. The palms should be used more efficiently. Rigid, yet flowing, and the movement should never be so slow.
It doesn't make too much sense to generalise about baguazhang, varied as it is. Some people practise circle walking with heel-toe steps, some with muddy steps like you say. And the movement can be as slow as you like, in order to improve the posture and body mechanics.
Yes tell us how Baguazhang is supposed to look great master lol. There's so many different training methods in Baguazhang as whole. Therefore ignorantly stating that someone is doing it wrong because you were told do it one way is not very wise. Please think before you speak.
watch sun zhi jun if you want to see professional bagua. He is the only one I can find on youtube that is right. Don't talk garbage to me over the internet, that is for ego problems. I simply stated what I thought of this man's bagua
I have watched Sun Zhijun many times in fact. What you don't understand is that just because one person walks the circle one way, does NOT mean it is the ONLY way. And I wasn't talking garbage, I was simply stating what I thought of your ignorance.
Hawkeyeke: actually Sun Zhi Jun goes against the standard bagua principles in his very low posture walking, because he always exposes the heal of his back foot while taking a step forward. Thats not to say that Sun is not amazing, but just to say that his is not the only way to practice.
This is great yin style. If I got the chance I would study with this guy for sure.
Kung fu is a lot more subtle than other martial arts, such as TKD which I've done. It's essence flows within the form, kind of like the knife hidden among velvet. Kung fu in all its styles exemplfies the "arts" in martial "arts".
what style of TKD do you study, that move in this vid looks nothing like any TKD move I have seen or taught, nor does it lok like something i would try on some one attacking me with a pole. but hey i have been wrong before
well... if this guy wants to fight with this.. he got no chance actually.. the way he moves his legs.. i mean his kicks show that hes not able to kick powerfull enough..
It's just a form, it's meant to be circular and smooth. In combat you of course wouldn't move like that, but this is about the flow, not speed or power.
Kung Fu is probably the least combat oriented in its use, likely because of its incredible heritage, it's almost evolved beyond that. Kung Fu isn't about who can fight the best or who can beat the most people up anymore, it's not really necessary, it's about self improvement and carrying on the heritage of the style for most people and the honor in that.
If you want combat Kung Fu, you train in iron fist where you can kill someone with one hit, shattering their insides.
such fluent movements

Amazing, awsome Pa Kua. Since you take Baguazhang I'm assuming you're a practicer of Xingyiquan, if so you should upload them.

hawkeyeke, in Yin style baguazhang, the steps are different than in Cheng style or the other ones; they're shorter...

yea but in kung fu combat is almost never practiced
90% of everything u learn is forms and until kung fu fixes this problem kung fu guys will continue to get beat by other MA's

Quite different than Yin i studied. The palm shape and angle is more like Cheng style. Fingers should not point up so much.
