TO CHILLAFRILLA: First of all, Bose meaks some pretty damn awsome speakers, me and my mom last year bought my dad the Bose Cinemate Series 2 G5 surround sound speakers for his birthday and they sound awsome, I was very impressed with the quality. Also, I turned them up to well passed half way and there was ABSOLYTELY no distortion, it was just clear, accurate sound. I'm with you on the base though, nice and lound and rich. I'm just saying that you should'nt hate on Bose too much. Write me back.
At least this is not MADE IN CHINA. It's made in Mexico........which made the product more expensive plus BOSE name. I bet the cost for Bose is only less than USD$80.....

What kind of sound card do you have? I mean I dont know a whole lot about sound cards but mine is a realtek HD audio something something and it has turned my ten dollar sub into a decent sounding sub, you think I should keep my sub, and just get the compainion 2? or go for the 400 dollar price tag, and replace the whole setup?

It seems pretty obvious that plugging the speakers into a came console by USB wouldn't work. You would have to plug the console's audio out into the Line in on the pod.
@philtrapp i have harman kardon and bose car speakers and i think harman kardon's sound is a bit better and woofer for some songs but the bose woofer is better overall
@xIBoLTx They are completely different. the Harman Kardon have ALOT more bass, if that's what your into. The Bose are based towards films and movies, hence the 5.1.
Anyways, i have both. Bose are INCREDIBLE for movies and games, truly awesome. But pretty average for a £300 music player. The Harman Kardon do a better job at dance, RnB and that type of music.
So, if you are buying for music. Get the HK. If you want for movies, games and clarity get the Bose...

You spend so much time saying the speakers are not worth it due to the price. You barely go into why the sound doesn't live up to expectations. You say you're an "audioholic" but don't say anything to show you know what you're talking about. If you compared them to other good speakers or how they sounded in different type of musical styles, then you'd show that you actually knew something. This was a really bad review. They are adequate for IMAC. I have it and they are awesome. Sound quality is just amazing. I have Bose stereo in my Audi A8 and it's just unbeatable. Am getting a Mercedes CLS63 AMG with Harman Kardon stereo and don't know how it sounds compared to the Bose. Will test and see. The top of the range is Bang & Olufsen. Simply jaw breaking sound system.
@e60deluxe he's not right, you can hear when knocking on the acoustimass module it's some sort of wood, i'm sure the housing of the sattelite speakers are some sort of wood as well. the stands however sound like metal for sturdiness :)
you have 2 monitors in between the speakers, and ik for sure that means the speakers are more than 24" apart, which Bose recommends them being up to 24" apart, no further. Try again.

if you wan't to connect them to your Xbox or ps3 you can put the jack you ussual put it the pc in to the headphone input on youre TV (every tv sould have 0ne). than you have the sound from your Xbox or ps3 (or both)
@slaving300 I have JBL speakers and I know how they sound. They sound great. But, don't you underestimate the true value of Bose speakers. I thought that I would never buy Bose speakers. Why in the would would I do that when I have big multi-drive JBL speakers which can handle hundreds watts of power?! But, I ended up actually buying Bose speakers. And boy how I am glad that I did!
@craneywatch I have heard many systems from Bose and it sound great, but they aren't the best like everybody thinks, and never like JBL and Harman Kardon, Harman sound systems is far better, besides my speakers are studio monitors, the sound is complety diferent from conventional speakers, they are for audio test and JBL had THX studio monitors.
@DudeThatAwesome I also used to think that the BOSE was, sorry to write, shit. I pretty much enjoyed the sound coming from Sennheiser, Tivoli, PSB and JBL. Only few days I bought Bose Companion 20. And I have to say, that I was and still astounded with the clarity and deepness of sound bose speakers deliver. The bass is punchy, and not boomy, mids is incredibly vivid and smooth, while highs are liquid and crystal clear. I love Bose!

I asked the same question and people told me these were fantastic for the price. Really clear sound, and they can play very loud aswell. For the price they are better than the Bose Companion 5.

Just bought those and will have to say that your review is decieving. The sound and feel is amazing, the quality is amazing, love everything about them. if you wan't to connect them to your Xbox or ps3 you can put the jack you ussual put it the pc in to the headphone input on youre TV (every tv sould have 0ne). than you have the sound from your Xbox or ps3 (or both)

@slaving300 I have JBL speakers and I know how they sound. They sound great. But, don't you underestimate the true value of Bose speakers. I thought that I would never buy Bose speakers. Why in the would would I do that when I have big multi-drive JBL speakers which can handle hundreds watts of power?! But, I ended up actually buying Bose speakers. And boy how I am glad that I did!

@craneywatch I have heard many systems from Bose and it sound great, but they aren't the best like everybody thinks, and never like JBL and Harman Kardon, Harman sound systems is far better, besides my speakers are studio monitors, the sound is complety diferent from conventional speakers, they are for audio test and JBL had THX studio monitors.

@DudeThatAwesome I also used to think that the BOSE was, sorry to write, shit. I pretty much enjoyed the sound coming from Sennheiser, Tivoli, PSB and JBL. Only few days I bought Bose Companion 20. And I have to say, that I was and still astounded with the clarity and deepness of sound bose speakers deliver. The bass is punchy, and not boomy, mids is incredibly vivid and smooth, while highs are liquid and crystal clear. I love Bose!

Bose is good, but it's not the best by any means with the price they have. I've tried all the top priced headphones of bose and they aren't really that great for what you pay for.

Hey I was thinking about buying one of those, but after this review I'm not so shure about it. I want a really good 2.1 speaker system for listening music on the computer. I'm sorry but they sound really awesome and look cool. I'm not saying at any point that these are as good as bose speakers and probably they wont last as long as bose ones do. Just bought those and will have to say that your review is decieving. The sound and feel is amazing, the quality is amazing, love everything about them. For everybody that has doubts just go to a bose store and experience the sound for yourselves, all the reviews here just cannot give you an objective statement, you simply have to hear it with your own ears.
