  • Easy when you've done it a few times. Strong hip flick, head out last, millions of how to videos on youtube.

  • the guy trying to roll you over at the end is realy bad at it. u should get on the top of the boat while its upside down and pull it over using your body weight...

  • Boat - body - head.

In the order, you could see yourself trying to push your head out first which is why you failed

  • really shit hip snap. go under...and just flick.

  • when i was new to canoe polo, i always experience that when i'm having a match haha

  • @HaRtBrEaKiiiD in canoe polo it's really a must to be able to roll. But yeah, we all learned it once. (i play canoe polo ass wel)

  • Chances are you will not roll when you're fresh

You'll most likely roll after you get out of a hole from hell that will take every ounce if strength and half hour out of you

Writing a boat is an instinct

Stay in the pool for now :-)

  • HEAD UP LAST!!!

  • a very affective way and quick way to learn to roll is how i got tought it i learnt in under 5 minutes the intructor started me of with som high bracing then capsizing and he guided my paddle to where i should start the roll with it and then he tapped my boat to let me know when to sweep and once youve done that youl be able to do it again and again

  • Good attempt, but for a screw roll do as everyone else is saying and bring your head up last. Have you ever tried a backdeck roll?they are really easy to pick up and are very quick. For me anyway, they require less effort and so are my favourite roll!

  • bring your head up last

  • you can't roll

  • Your head is the last thing to come out of the water.

  • it looks like you are really digging your paddle downwards tuck in your elbow this will make your paddle arm sweep outwards rather than down and keep your eyes on your blade all the time while it sweeps back this will prevent your head coming up too early and prevents you straining your back.come up at the back of your boat.hope this helps

  • Learn proper technique from a pro. Keep your Elbows down and close to your body or you'll risk shoulder injury.

  • hi im using my dads account and im 13 and ive just learnt how to roll, find a kayak that is small enough and a tight-ish fitting ( make sure you can get out though) so the movements of your body are more accurate, also just be calm when attempting, when u go over and cant get back up either tap of the boat three times and wait for someone, if tht fails pull your deck, deck test under water 20 secs or more shud be able to do it! get an instructer who can pull you back up! have them guide paddle!

  • Make sure your head is the last thing to leave the water.

  • good advice guys lol yh get someone who knows how to flip a kayak back up first, actually jump on the hull of the boat and use you weight. and to make sure you have a flat blade on top of the water, slap it with the paddle, so if your sliceing through the water tilt the blade until the paddle grips good luck

  • ur diggin ur paddle in2 the water nt gtin engh og a skull and ur trying 2 get ur head out of the water too fast head is the last thing 2 com out...and gt some1 who nos how 2 flip a kayak lol

  • hand of god fail, practice in the shallow end so you dont swim every time

  • Not sure if this is a sweep roll that dove or a super-rushed c-to-c . Either way, gotta take your time and make sure your head comes out of the water last.

And yeah, the "rescue attempt" is beyond lame.

  • As you move your paddle out wards you are sinking it you want to keep it resting on the water untill you have it at 90degrees to your kayak then pull. still keep this smooth though.

  • Might i recommend that if someone is going to rescue you without a kayak simply by hand then what they should think about doing is launching there body over your kayak from the side. They then grab the cockpit on the other side and drop there weight back, before pushing down on the end they've grabbed which will completely pull you back up. This is a technique worth posting and one worth you telling that and many other instructors. Its a very easy jump over pull up!

  • boat looks too wide to be an easy one to learn a roll with.

  • The main problem your left arm is is punching straight out causing your paddle to dive. Instead your left arm should stay in a low neutral position and should finish with your elbow bent and left hand below your chin. Also, watch the blade of your paddle throughout your entire roll and initiate your hip snap as soon as you start the sweep movement. Dont pull on the paddle, it should glide along the surface, your right knee/lower body rotates the boat. It doesnt help that you are in a playboat

  • make sure you get your head out of the water last.tap the flat driving surface of the paddle on the water to find the waters surface and then make sure the outer edge is facing at an angle to the surface and twist your hips so that you dont move your arms. the twisting motion from the start postion (twist upwards and sideways) with enough power will make the roll efortless. Still confused? wath the twist and slice roll vid by speusa!

  • Don't lift your Head!!!!!

  • shit roll

you can always use your hands

    that's easy

  • nice boat,

    shit paddle,

    shit help.

  • KayakBloke is right. Hip snap not at the end, but when the paddle is perpendicular to the boat.

  • Firstly, your paddle dives which takes away the support from the paddle. Cock your wrist forward as you sweep and the blade will stay flat near the surface.

Secondly your hip flick brings you up NOT the paddle. Try not to be so aggressive with the paddle.

Lastly, bring your head out last. It's hard cos you really want air but one gulp and back under is all you're gonna get if you try to bring your head up early.Try watching the paddle as it sweeps if you find this too hard

  • the other guy couldent even save him properly my bro cud have saved him and hes only 10!

  • weak hip snap

  • ok why is he teaching you to roll when he cant roll u out im 12 stone and muy 7 stone m8 can roll me back up easiy and i can roll an ex rugby player up and im 13

  • u should hav more attemps than one

  • your not gona be able to unless uv somebody showin u.i leand the basic body movment on land, yes with the boat upside down, just leaning to twist and keepin my arms tuckd to protect my shoulder.

  • your moving the paddle that is out of the water too much and keeping the paddle under water too still.

theres just not enough resistance on the paddle to lift you up thats all.

you need to sweep it from the front left to the back right in a smooth, not jerky motion, making sure the paddle face is 90 degrees to the direction your moving it.

  • yep, when you know how to roll, you're not afraid of the current,no matter how strong it is

  • I've been kayaking for less than a year and I can do a better job than that. I learnd to roll within 5 hours of practice. Now I can roll and go on wild water knowing that i know what to do. It boosts your confidence.

  • wow, 5 hours? your a legend, i respect you like a god. you will be world champion in no time.

  • Acyualy I went to only one training session outdoors on the river before we had to go to the pool. There it was pretty fast learning.

  • I teach kids how to roll and I've had one get it in 50 minutes. You could teach anyone to roll in 5 hours.

  • OMG! ive been kayaking for 5 years now and im 13. Surely u guys must know how to rescue someone! U simply stretch over the bottom of the boat and grab onto the cockpit, and have one have at the side of the boat nearest you, then easily flip him up. im 13 and i can do that to a 15stone 47 year old or something.Come on guys! sense!

  • it is called a hand of god roll. one hand over the boat and the other pushing down on the near side

  • who ever cam in shud hav jst givin a unconcus rescue

  • The most important thing that you don't seem to have learned is to keep the paddle FLAT.

Keep your left wrist by your left hip at all times. This will ensure the paddle is level with the water. You can't support yourself with an upright paddle!

  • Your not the only one, i learning it myself.

But i must say your buddy does'nt seem much help.

My coaches roll me back up as soon as i tap my boat

  • yeah, your head should pretty much come out of the water last, and remember that all important hip flick. if you haven't alrerady got it, practice at the side of the pool with the paddle on the edge.

  • tell your buddy next time to reach over your boat opposite from where he is then use his body mommentom to roll you over.

  • Yeah... and get some friends who can rescue properly.

  • It looks like your paddles went straight down into the water

  • keep your head down

  • your body should follow your boat, not boat follow body.

with that roll turn the boat rightside up leaving your body and head still in the water. only bring them over the boat once the boat is rightside up.
