  • John looked like a kid! lol.

  • This takes me back to my high school years. Truly nostalgic, an 87 Turbo Sprint was my first car.

  • i didn't even know this existed

  • Thanks for the post! The old Motorweek episodes are really fun to watch--especially when you compare how much cars have changed since back then. It's funny that John mentions "radial tires" and lap belts only in the rear seats.

  • Corning would later produce Gorilla Glass.

  • Wow! Sounds like that engine would not start!

  • 0 to 60 in 9.5 seconds, thats really good for a 75 horsepower golf cart with headlights

  • I would still drive either of these.

  • God I miss my Firefly Turbo...

  • 0:56 ..."a higher performance suspension"

  • Oh man a sprint turbo would be awesome to have. It'd be the perfect little thing to gut & lighten and race around in :D

  • There is some Richard Williams (of "Who Framed Roger Rabbit") animation in the Owens/Corning Fiberglass commercial!

  • 0:57 DON'T ROLL IT! LOL

  • lol look how young he is

  • the 1985-1988 Chevrolet Spirit was assembled in

    Hamamatsu, Japan

  • i got the ER 86 and im getting 64 mpg and 0-60 in 6.9 secs its all about the tweaking guys trust me also the 12 inch rims to 13 inch rims is alot better of both worlds of mpg and faster on the line.

  • @joesplantation I Agree with you

  • 6500 Rpm Redline, not bad for a lil' blown 3 Cylinder.

  • Love the lack of rear space mentioned...On that note: Has anyone sat in a new Mini? It makes the rear seat of the old turbo Sprint seem like a luxury cavern for two people comparably. My 87 Honda Civic hatch was a lot less roomy than my 87 Sprint Turbo as well. I think this car is pretty roomy, actually.

  • Just bought one of these for $800 with 67,000 miles on it. :D

  • @THCmore4ME TURBO??

  • @djkenny oh yeah

i can fill my tank up on E with $

    28

  • lol my swift gti is much faster and non turbo.

  • @Billswiftgti I love Suzuki Swift GTi's. What's the redline? Like almost 8000 rpm right?

  • @whoohaaXL it's redline is 7800-8000 you are right.everybody turns expecting something big hehee

  • Wow thanks for posting this

  • anybody have a motorweek review of a subaru gl ?

  • That 9.5 seconds 'feels" like 5.2. 1670 LBS and a blown engine creates rocket like seat of the pants feel that numbers just cannot describe. However, I have clocked my standard Sprint Turbo at 7.9 seconds flat.

  • the Turbo in the Chevrolet Sprint is freakin out of control crazy quick, losing 5 mpg is worth the insane kick of the boost plus the fuel injection system is way more reliable than the carb in the ER. Should get more miles out of a well maintained turbo model.

  • The Turbo is fun, and all. But I'll take the Sprint ER (or '88 Sprint Metro model) any day. 37 city/ 43 hwy? ER and Metro got 54 city/58 hwy ratings. I wouldn't mind having the wheel covers off the turbo, though.

  • lol blasted in 9.5 seconds

  • I have a red 87 Sprint Turbo. It is fast, handling is okay...thinking of bigger wheels and tires.

  • Quiero una sprint turbo

  • i love watching old school vids like this!

  • EPIC vid man!!
