  • best movie ever !!!! bar none. I'll miss all those fabulous actors....

  • 2:09 do you see that flying thing at the treeline? Possibly a helicopter?

  • I've never heard of Madison City MO either...

  • @Trashcansam123 In this clip the band are playing 3 different marching tunes, from around the 2 minute mark which one is playing?

  • @paulrosewell666 I don't think I know. Why do you?

  • Best scene EVER.

  • Looks like the entire population of Madison City doesn't approve of this scene...

  • Θ‿Θ Where you from son?

    ゚ヮ゚ Madison city Missouri Sir!

    Θ‿Θ ....

    ಠ_ಠ Never heard of it...

    ゚‿゚ ....

    ゚_゚ ....

  • "i'd rather be a civilian, sir." :D:DD

  • I remembered the "never heard of it" scene when I saw this as a child

  • "You're really quite emotional. Aren't you."

  • Madison City , Missouri had population of 586 at 2000 census

  • great clip from an awesome film!

  • " Walk slow, look dumb and act stupid" were the Major's words to Pinkley. Don't blame Pinkley for how this came down, he was just obeying the Major's command order.

  • This marching band music composed of 3 different music compostions is the bomb i love this part of the movie.

  • @YOU2UUB so do i!!!

  • The movie that this clip is from is awesome and this is my favorite part.

  • Classic Donald Sutherland @ 2:47, LOL

  • Haha "if you ever pull a stunt like that again I'll beat your brains out" "I bet you don't-" (stops smiling)

  • This should have more views, this is a classic!

  • This is clasic "Donald Sutherland"! Great movie!

  • this movie is dope ......its where i got my name from.....lmao sick shit man

  • OLD IS GOLD AND I'M 16

  • just walk slow, look dumb, and act stupid...

  • hahahaha this bit man....i could watch it over and over......never heard of it..hahahaha

  • "NEVER heard of it" hahhaha

  • Old man Sutherland has some pretty good lines in this scene.

  • I wonder why the band sings "Semper Fidelis" as if they were Marines...

    It`s an Airborne Unit...

  • im related to lee marvin,i think,lol

  • Best put down in cinema hx. 'Ur really quite emotional aren't U?'.

  • In the 60s they had not invented volume controls yet, I guess.

  • What is the name of the song? Sounds like a Sousa march.

  • Kuwait's right! God saves America الله يحفظ امريكا رساله من الكويت

  • I have to say Lee Marvin was one of the Great Actor's you just don't see them like him anymore. I enjoy seeing the airborne taking a few laughs for the common infantry soldier even if he is part of the Dirty Dozen,

  • the band conductor...lol!

  • "You've seen generals inspect their troops before? Just walk slow, look dumb and act stupid." Got a chuckle from my dad. (US Army '55 to '57).

It's even funnier 'cause Sutherland's Canadian.

  • not composer hes the conductor

  • "I'd rather be a civilian, sir" I died laughing the first tme i heard that line

  • Clint Walker tells Lee Marvin: "I don't like to be pushed!"

  • John Cassevettes is a riot!..He's sinacle and a complete REBEL!

  • 1:58 !!!!! Hilarious!

  • Comment removed

  • Donald Sutherland's best acting performance.

  • "everyone's slipping on soap"

  • ...but can they fight?!

I almost pissed myself when I heard it

just like with that German surrender in A Bridge too far 8-D

  • One of the best classics ever. ONe of my favorite scenes..... Where you from son?...

  • This is one of my favorite movies of all time! I had crushes on all of them (unheard of before for me)! (smile!)

  • great film, great action, GREAT humour....just what's missing from today's films...

  • Oh shit, todays movies are beyond crap. The sick thing is they are spending millions more money nowadays to make this garbage. Can you believe Jaws, Cuckoo's nest, Dog Day afternoon, and Barry Lyndon came out in the same year?! I can't even fathom that compared to today.

  • back in the days when films were actually film instead of garbage get rich quick schemes with gratuitous violence and mindless dialogue

  • I seriously can't even watch the upcoming movie previews anymore. They just make me deeply depressed and very very annoyed. One stupid fucking piece of shit after another. Comedies aren't even funny accidentally.

  • preach on girl, preach on I'm with you

  • @Rhonda9000

I agree completely, for example Crank high voltage and ''The land of the dead'' was A COMPLETE GARBAGE PER 4,i watched them 2 minutes each one and completely cut it off,can you believe they spend milions on those senseless garbages and label them as entertainment?

  • where you from son,Madison city,Mo.Never heard of it

  • Hey ,, D-Sqn Recce 8CH 85to89,, really ,, I'm not kidding ,,,lol

  • Pinkly: "What kind of a general sir?"

Major: "Just a plain, oridinary, everyday, home loving American General"

Pinkly: "i'd rather be a civilain"

    LOL

  • great clip! one of the all time classic movies!

  • that MP plays the same type of square , stick up his ass in every movie I've ever seen him in

  • Fine scene from a classic movie. Great cast.

  • "rather be a civillian sir!"

  • Clint Walker was going to do sutherlands part but was sick. Thank god! Sutherland was GREAT!!!

  • wtf is with the volume!

  • this movieee jonh cassavetee was brillant excelente actorrrrrrrrrrr

  • i love the band composer!!! he has this look on his face and he doesn't stop composing....LOL

  • i laugh'd so hard each time i looked at his face. its so happy.

  • @mmmburger1988

    conducting!!

  • @mmmburger1988 Conductor, not composer ffs.

  • Great Movie!!

  • "where you from soldier?" "Madison City Missouri sir!!" "Never heard of it" !! lol

  • Damn hell funny and cool film :D

In Hungarian language, those are the same sentences. :D

  • this guy is pretty funy

  • "I'd rather be a civilian sir" pmsl!!

  • PRETEND ITS 1944 AND AMERICA IS AT WAR,JAMES CAGNEY starts bashing america in interviews with reporters and the foreign press, cant picture it eh ?tODAY WE HAVE PEOPLE WHO DO IT,ED ASNER,SEAN PENN,BARBRA STREISSAND,REDFORD,GLOVER THE MARXIST,SUSAN SARANDON AND HER CREEP LOVER,WHOOPIE GOLDBURG,ETC. IT MUST BE REAL NICE WHEN OUR SOLDIERS HEAR THIS IN NEWS REPORTS.LEE MARVIN IS ROLLING OVER IN HIS GRAVES AT THESE LIBERAL BASTARDS.

  • I couldn't agree with you more. At one time Hollywood had real patriots like John Wayne, Chuck Connors and Charlton Heston acting in the movies. Nowadays, to make it in Hollywood you have to be a left wing commie pig. What a sad state of affairs.

  • Agreed

  • donald sutherland was hilarious on that second walk through.. "where you from soldier?" "Madison City Missouri sir!!" "Never heard of it" hahaha

  • lee is rolling over in his grave at todays leftist liberal actors who bash america. BASTARDS LIKE THE JEW SEAN PENN,DANNY GLOVER,ED ASNER, MARTIN SHEEN. BRING BACK CONSERVATIVES LIKE LEE,JOHN WAYNE,DANA ANDREWS,BOGART.

  • John Wayne was a draft dodger, who was booed off a marine base when he showed up to speak to the troops. You are confusing Hollywood conservatives with real Americans. People have a first amendment right to speak their minds, not the reverse. I always considered myself conservative, but the current Nazi like fakes give real conservatives a bad name.

  • Yeah right.....and everytime the conservatives tell it like it is, the left wing scum try to put a stop to it. They're attempting the same thing right now with something called the "fairness doctrine" which is a roundabout way of trying to get O'Reilly, Imus, Limbaugh and the rest of the conservatives off the air. Don't give me that crap about how open minded and "fair" the liberal commie pigs are.

  • shut up dumbass gunloving redneck

  • -Where you from son?

    - "something" Missouri

    - ... never heard of it...

    hahaha Pinkley owns...

  • First half of the movie is great. Characters, conflicts, leadership, rebellion, psychology, everything that makes a good movie good. In the second half we see an unlikely commando operation, straight from a B-rated war comedy. Sorry, but despite the high density of stars this one cannot be a classic.

  • I kinda agree with you.

  • Pinkley's going to be a general! :D

  • Sure, in "The Outbreak"!

  • Classic Thankyou for posting kills me every time!!!

  • Excellent piece of an old classic war movie :D

  • Clint Walker was to do this, thank god he wasill. Donald made this one of the best part of the movie!!!

  • "Very Pretty Colonel, but can they fight?"

    "Where are you from son?"

    "Madison City Missouri sir!"

    "...never heard of it..."

  • "Alright we've got work to do. Thank you Colonel!" lol Even Sgt.Barrett smirk at that remark lol

  • Don't forget about Charles Bronson..

  • does anybody know the name of the song that the band is playing in the background...

  • the first song is "National Emblem"

the second song is "Semper Fidelis"

    ...good marching music ;)

  • the funny thing is this is music for the Marine Corps-they are supposed to be in the Army.

  • I am willing ta bet most of the actors were Vets, It is a great movie! I wanna cry everytime I see it, makes my Dick hard! now Maggot front leanin rest position...Huuuuu

  • John Cassavettes (Victor Franko) was placed right next to Donald Sutherland in the back of the truck when Lee Marvin asks Sutherland if he wants to be a general. John Cassavettes reactions are hilarious. ROFL.

  • NUMBER 11

  • There's a Hollywood story that says the Posey character played by Clint Walker was supposed to have done the scene as the general, but he got hit bad with a flu bug. They turned to Sutherland taking over and did it ever work!

  • "walk slow,look dumb,act stupid" fit's George Bush to a tee

  • Have any Original soundtrack of this film? (Hong Kong)

  • Same!!!

  • Great scene, great movie. This was filmed at RAF Hendon, London in 1966. The main entrance and guardhouse have long since been demolished. If you look carefully you can see a Slingsby glider flying in the background! The C47's were painted board mock ups, not real aircraft. Together with a number of other ATC cadets I watched this being filmed. Our Squadron,120 Hendon was based in the hangars where the RAF Museum is now!

  • "Just walk slow, act dumb, and look stupid." One of the best war movies ever made.

  • Lee Marvin !!!! What a GREAT actor......A true legend !!!!

  • Marine Hymn in the background.....

must be cause Lee Marvin was a Marine PFC.

  • fought in iwo jima didn`t he?

  • wounded at the Battle of Peleliu.

  • Yes, Lee Marvin fought at Iwo Jima, and he was a sniper.

  • Actually, he fought at the battle of Saipan.

  • "Where you from son?"

    "Madison City, Missouri Sir!!"

    "Never Heard of it..."

    HAHAHA!!! Love this clip!!!

  • yes i aggre xDDDD best movie ever!!!!!!

    haaaahaaaaahaaaXDDDDDDDDDD

  • I always thought that the Bad General looked kind of like George Bush Sr.!!!

  • "I'd rather be a civilian!"

    LMFAO!

  • great clip. hate to impose--any chance you'd want to upload the scene where they recount their plan for assaulting the chateau: "13....zero hour...Mayonnaise cuts the cable, Franco cuts the phone" etc?

  • the best forever...

  • "They're very pretty, colonel. But, can they fight?"

    I love this scene.

  • i take 2 hour for discover the name of this great movie of my youngt days almost dont remember how good it was

  • madison city, missouri...never heard of it...

  • "...walk slow, look dumb and act stupid" LOLLLLLLLLLLLL

  • Donald Sutherland was wonderful in this scene!

  • Questa qui è la miglior dannata scena di questo film

  • This here is the best damn scene in this movie.
