  • Athea huh :) I Don't know her name. I'm from czech republic and in summer 2006 i was on holidays in Canada. It was amazing :) I want back...

  • @1992kml to say hey mom i want some milk now

  • @1992kml It's mostly so she can feel close to her mother, and she's also stimulating milk production. You'll notice that where she's hitting is where she drinks milk from.

  • Hello Bubblywums, Namu(the-orca) from Da speaking here :D

Just a question, as can be seen at 0.49 and at more parts of the movie, you can come very close to the orcas. So in fact, when Ike would for example put his chin on that shallow ledge, nothin would/could stop you from petting him (except for the fact it's probably strctly forbidden). Just a question ;P

  • @fredjelucas Since this video was filmed, they put up another wall around the edge so people can't get that close anymore. Also, they have staff that monitor people so they don't put their hands too close or stand on top of the second wall. :)

  • @bubblywums Too bad XD Is it a real wall around it, just like the 'main' wall, or is it more like a fence?

    Thanks for the info :)

  • ncie

  • That is so cool! At Sea world, you can't get that close to the orcas. It would be amazing to get right up next to them. Orcas are so awesome :D Those two look so happy together :) Great vid!

  • Teehee~ I remember when Athena was that small. xD

  • I know! It seems like just yesterday!

  • cool

  • Awesome! Thanks! It is almost finished, but my computer for some reason says I have to export the file to a different kind. It is a windows movie maker. So I don't exactly know when I will upload it, but hopefully soon! ;D

  • Cute video! Can I use some of this for a video I am making on orcas and calves? It's perfect for it! I will always credit you!:D

  • Sure, I don't mind at all! Thank you so much for asking. <3 Let me know when you finish!

  • niceeeeee

  • This comecial Rocks

  • hey i love this vid nice shots they should use it as there commercial

  • Haha, thank you!

  • nice footage

  • so does it cost anything to got to friendship cove? it seems like something you have to pay extra for.

  • No, Friendship cove is included in the park fee.

  • Such a small tank??! :( Where is that?? It looks nice to visit.....

  • It isn't as small as it looks. It's twice as big as shown.

It is in Niagara, Ontario. Marineland Canada.

  • Ya its one of the larger tanks

  • @AmyHoneyBunny that tank is actually quite big i think, if you want to see a small tank look at the tiny fishbowl the Orca Lolita lives in at the Miami Seaquarium... :(

  • do u know if they allow petting at seaworld?

  • Not anymore for orcas. Only for the belugas.

  • 4 orcas r at friendshipcove

  • Yup, Nootka, Kiska, Ikaika and Athena.

  • ok i forgot Ikaika was moved there

  • If you go to the Marineland website, you can download it. :3

marinelandcanada[dot]com/video/ Click on 'Download our Audio tracks'. It's the Marineland Theme.

  • Awesome video, I was there at mareine land about 10 years ago, and I touched a baby orca,, feels rubbery

  • Yes, I remember petting one too! Now they don't do that anymore though, only with the belugas. :(

  • but i´ve fed the orca and touch him!! the first one you can see at the video

  • You used to be able to do that, but not any more. I to have touched and fed one, and even been kissed by one.

  • wow! that's so cool! i wish i could do that!!!

  • i thought athena was like only 1!!! and o ok makes sense i mean it'd b cruel 2 take away a friendship just so that person can get wat THEY want. but they don't do show's like where they do tricks in those educational display things do they??

  • Yup, they do. They do a few jumps and twirls but that's about it. Like I said earlier, it's nothing like the shows at SeaWorld.

  • ok well that's good that means the orca's r treated very good there! u must live in niagra falls then huh?

  • All the animals there are treated very well. =D

Nah, I live in London, Ontario. It's a few hours drive from Niagara.

  • AWESOME!!! at least u live sorta near niagara falls so u can go 2 marineland alot right? i've been 2 niagara falls but we didn't no anything about marineland when we went there and now i REALLY want 2 go back there again!!

  • I've been there a few times, yeah. You should go there. =D

  • i REALLY want 2 but my dad got pissed when we went there because we started looking 4 a hotel at around 12:30 a.m. and we didn't find a hotel till like 2:30 a.m. i'm still trying 2 beg him 2 go there again 2 go 2 marineland but i'm not sure if he'll budge.

  • aw cute

  • They are beautiful creatures, but im really angry watching all those people tapping on the class and you now wanting thier shots of these orcas. I'm not sure if that was thier tank they live in or if tht was thier performing tank but it was really wuite small. i just wish they never captured Kiska in the first place from Iceland

  • Their tank is twice as big as shown, it is divided into two parts right now because of baby Athena was blocked off from the other female. They actually have a rail to prevent people from touching the glass, there are no people tapping the glass in this video. I personally like being able to see the whales at Marineland, but I can understand your anti-captivity remarks. The orcas are healthy and not being treated badly there, unlike some other Marine Animal parks.

  • does marineland make them do shows???

  • They aren't really shows, they are more like educational displays. They tell you all about the orcas like what they eat, their size, etc. They do I few jumps if they feel like it but the trainers don't make them perform. I know because when I was their one of the orcas was a little over-heated so they didn't make her perform. It's nothing like the shows at other marine parks.

  • well that's good and it looks like they have pretty big tanks probly bigger then the ones in seaworld! and it looks like their getting along pretty well especialy athena! =)

  • Yeah, and Athena has a new playmate right now so her mother gets some time off while Marineland is closed for the winter. ^-^

  • that great i REALLY want 2 go see them they look really friendly and arnt u able 2 like pet them

  • You can pet and feed (not that they need it. xD) the belugas, yes. You used to be able to pet the orcas but they don't do that anymore.

  • how come??

  • I actually don't know. It may be because the orcas are suitable for people to touch. The ones in the petting session unfortunately all passed away because their was something wrong with their genes. The whales that are there now are friendly, but I don't think Marineland trusts them enough to have people petting them. Of course, this is not confirmed so don't quote me on it. xP

  • y don't u think they they think even athena is friendly she seems VERY friendly in videos i've seen of her
