in the 90s they had fast motors to, like the 12 or 8 turns motors from reedy or trinity.
i had a 8t motor in a associated rc10b2, it's just as fast as an novak 5.5 but 2-3 min run times on 2000 nicd cells. lol

Yeah batteries are over twice as big capacity as they were back then, so you guys don't worry about dumping no matter how fast you go. Back then it was our biggest concern. To make 5 mins on a 12T motor you drove carefully!
