@kevin20843 we wernt here to hear your jesus savior stuff if you want to know your savior meet your military but if you honestly belive jesus died for you or came back for you then put yourself in a white jacket with the arm ristrictions and walk to the nearest cucu house
I'll be honest, when I read the title I thought there would be a huge flame war in the comment section. I was skeptical about the title but after watching your video I agree with what you mean by staying away from religion and politics, unless your looking to learn something, rather than correct someone. I'm a Christian and my dad is a senator so I'm not any dumb troll. Thumbs up.
This is true at some point that the avoidance of these topics helps salvage friendships/relationships from damage. I have lost a good friend because I complimented her she looked better without a hijab and it turned out to be offensive, and another time I made it worse because we have different political ideologies. Sometimes it's unavoidable, so you must understand the tones that could result in the discussion; otherwise, no talking will be effective even if it's about a totally different issue
they go saying that they're right and others are wrong acting like they know everything which bugs me
i may be christian..but i dont go around atheist saying to their faces that they're wrong and everything.....that would be stupid and cause to much arguments over everything
i agree many people try to push that they are right and others are wrong rather than accepting that they could be wrong and others could be right. but that is the thing there are some atheist that can accept this. but when you get into religion you cant, specifically in christianity if you do accept the possibility of being wrong then your doubting which is equal to non believing in punishment the only difference is you are more likely to ask for forgiveness for that doubt.
its not the religion and the politics that is the problem its how man uses them. you the only way to infulence peoples religion or politic's is with power. why not openly talk about it. i do it. sure i might get angry but i dont get close minded to anothers beliefs.
religion and politics dont mix well??? our courts and government were based on the one from deutoronomy.the trial courts, apellate courts and supreme courts are was grasped from deutornomy.guilty only in the presence of 2 or 3 witnesses is from the old testament.the army is from the old testament.theres so many things
are you shore about that because it sound like it does. common people view religion to be true the wise see it as foolish the one in power use it like a tool.
Dude are you serious right now you look like you might be a so called Christan but Jesus never hated none believers. you know you were a none believer once but Jesus still loved you.
if i voice my opinion at my school, with the people there, i could end up dead. in the south there are some very very religious people, people that blow it way out of proportion and they are dangerous, you say one wrong thing and they want you dead.
well you know what they say, never discuss religion, politics, and the economy at a table... everyone has different opinions. It just gets you no where and the end result is argument.
Religion: In the beginning there was God and then he made everything.
Science (according to the Big Bang theory) : In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.
Science is just as irrational as religion in some cases. : )
(Note: I know there are more than just one variants of the big bang theory and that in a few (or more) there was dust or matter or something that gathered to create it, but it still would leave the question where the matter came from in the first place.)
@ElginU1613 it sounds the same to me what you're trying to compare... 'making something out of nothingness'... there would be further questions like 'who made God?' and 'where did the dust/matter come from?'. The most honest answer is we don't know, but it is reasonable to me to rely on scientific proofs, e.g. the physical laws
@ElginU1613 it sounds the same to me what you're trying to compare... I dunno about that, we've had some very informative discussions about both subjects in the past. It allowed me to see how you as an individual thought about the subjects from your perspective.
Sounds a little discouraging for you... My favorite people to talk to are people I can talk about anything with. They don't listen with the intention of changing my opinion, they listen with the intention of understanding how I am feeling about what I am saying. I do the same when I am listening to them. This produces a fantastic sense of connection which is much more enjoyable than changing someone's mind. But hey who cares LoL Cheers!
Hum... I think that exchangin ideas and arguments and facts can be good. But, you have to choose the right time to do so. Don't talk about religion or politics when you're going to have some relaxing fun. In the other way, I don't think your friends are really your friends if you can't talk with them about religion and politics. It is all about being adults.
yer right. people are set in their ways and when they hear somethin they dont like they either hate comment or just click off. very few are swayed.
those are the 2 most dangerous to discuss because one deals with how everyday life is organized and governed and the other is of life's (and beyone life's) mysteries.
people say politics are crooked and that's hard to revolutionize unless the push of the people. religion is such of a mystery and people base their lives on it that it becomes sensitive to mess with their afterlife
A perfect example of how true this video is.. I had 5 people tell me they didnt want to have anything to do with me after they saw that I posted this video.. when I asked.. "Did you watch it?" they answered "No".. point proven lol even the mention of it stirs up controversy
So true about trying to make sense of a political & religion mix. They really should stay separate so one can pray & the other can deliberate the other. None of the two shall meet. There will never be the complete expert to the other. (unless you ask them... lol) Remember one thing. You are responsible for your own soul. Period. So be right to yourself in whatever your so called beliefs. If they are wrong & you find out after your dead... What a boo boo that will & would make... Oh Yeah...
you can voice an opinion but trying to sway someone's way of thinking isn't right anyway, let people think what they want, who are we to tell them how to believe, besides, talking about religion or politics is not being religious or political, it is just self indulgent ego banging, friends are friends, others just compete, you still unfucked?
I made the same discovery many years ago. Even very good friends can have very differing opinions and beliefs in both politics and religion, and you will NEVER agree, you will never change each other, you'll only wind up arguing yourselves silly over it.
My approach is to avoid both like the plague. It works. :-)
well said. i've stopped getting into it with religious numb-nuts here on youtube because you can't have an intelligent, rational, logical exchange with them- either because they lack the mental capacity to engage in such a discussion, or they put a biblical spin on everything- even if the topic is secular. it's worse than talking to a wall.
the friends i have are mature enough to just be like "oh ok" and we talk on what our opinions are. they usually just go "oh. i was taught..." and i put in my 2 cents, they go "that's odd" etc. that's about it. it never turns into an argument. :/
You're right about not changing other people's opinions...I'm not sure if this isn't a good time to go back to old school "don't talk politics and religion." Back in the day that was actually considered being polite and respecting other people...
I think it is possible to have conversation of religion and politics. The problem that has arisen over the years is not dialogue but debate. A debate always focuses on who wins. We need conversation where opposing groups treat one another as worthy and are something important. The problem with religious conservatives is that they do not deem the person who does not agree with them as worthy. This is the group that has had "power" politically. Hopefully this will change with the new president.
Yeah it is a serious topic both ways because in MANY ways they contradict each other, but it does bring problems! I agree, I don't talk about it either.
I don't have a problem listening to other people's opinions. I feel that the world is meant to have different people with different opinions. Just because a person thinks/acts/believes/feels/looks/lives differently than me, doesn't make them my enemy. It just means they are different. Isn't that what makes the world interesting? I don't have to be like anyone else. I am free to have and express my own thoughts. As you said, "Do what works for you."
I completely agree! I have found that the minute religion or politics enter a conversation with 99% of people - it quickly changes from an exchange of opinions to an outright argument. There are very few people who can graciously accept just hearing an opposing or different opinion. Good things CAN happen if both sides are willing to listen without arguing, but that doesn't usually happen. I suppose those two topics are things people are overwhelmingly passionate about.
I don't think people who are high up in religion have a huge influence either. Only if you follow the religion. If you're not Catholic, then the pope is just some old guy with an opinion.
I think ppl think you are attacking religion bcos the title (provocatively!!) says: "say no to religion and politics" lol. Obviously they haven't watched it, because the video is mainly about not TALKING about religion and politics in a conversation!
