challenger wasn't geared right, heavier and less hp, it took about 8k in the sti to beat a motor that cost about 1500 to build. put 7500 more in the challenger and the challenger would of whooped its ass.

Instead of comparing uncomparable, I´d just take both cars, impreza for everyday pleasure and charger for harsh power. Though Impreza is an ultimate beast when tuned, it´s also good in stock setup and has a very good and durable engine, it´s fast acceleration is determined by nearly 300HP and very good 4x4. Just maybe the gear doesn´t feel that confident on dry roads, it feels much better in harsh conditions. Charger on the other hand, well it´s a baby and a different, rougher way of fun :)

Really? Chargers aren't that fast in today's terms. The STI is AWD and got a decent launch. It's also 1000+lbs lighter and isn't that short in HP either.

The camaro is tuffer, but the STI is much faster: launch, acceleration (rolling is similar), top end, cornering, braking all far superior. Love old musclecars (including mopars), but don't kid yourself, they are no match for modern technology.

Judging by the RPM's the charger was being shifted at, it wasn't being driven very hard. Second, it was burning oil quite a bit and the engine sounds stock. But hey, a race is a race and the STI won in this case.

Thank you everyone for your comments! At the time we took the video the STI had a bad exhaust leak and was just not running very well 2 weeks after the video it was fixed and made 426 awhp and 420 awtq on the dyno.

I just looked at the mods on the STI...I didn't realize they were listed on the description, and didn't know how modified it was...I now see why things went they way they did..Looking at things differently now the Charger did well but Give that charger some gears so it can really get out of the hole and things would have been close.....4000 pounds doesn't wanna move too quick without gears..even mine with 525hp doesn't launch well without at leat some 410's...can't wait to see more...

The STI was HEAVILY modified. Nothing was stock on that car. The charger is stock with three people in the car. The charger will be getting a rebuild real soon and it will have some more ponies coming out of her. We will post more vids soon!
uh yea you need to be educated. factory 440 charger 375bhp-480tq 3890-3970 depending on transmission and etc. ran mid - high 13's with an experienced driver. although the 04' sti yields the same results factory with an upgraded turbo that flows 50+lb min it has a 500whp limit and this exact sti probably produces 400 whp @ 24psi. and with a good driver could produce mid 11's with ease. You'll never get a factory 440 charger into the 11's...

@RTCHARGER1970 actually SIR. i know of a few decently built cars that run lows 13s and 12s. my buds got an 320hp 02 Wrx with an upgraded turbo, exhaust and map. ppg box. runs mid 12s. on 22psi. and my boy has a 89 S10 long bed with a mild 350 in it with 300 hp running 13s. WITH 3.08 GEARS. factory rear end. its all hp to weight. doesnt allways have to be more power more power. you can always lose a few extra pounds off the car. every 100 is a 10th. so you do the math.

@comedyguy1262549 no way it was fair! a 41 year old dead stock car vs a new turbo'd tunned awd car which its impossible to have the problem of wheel spin so if you dont bog you win the launch. so 41vs less than 10 years old. lets see how that engine runs without any computers. Each car is different you cant say the sti is better or the charger is better they are a 30 year difference thats like comparing a stock 1930 model a to a 1950 hudson hornet or a stock 58 impala vs a GNX worked..wont work

if youre so pissed off just stop replaying to people like me who write comments like this and ignore comments like this.....oh and btw,here in germany some chargers cost 20,000 euros....abnout 26,000 dollars with a few new parts like brakes(the stock brakes suck) a new seat or something and a barely restored engine....i havent seen any WRX sti´s live and not even at cardealers so i dont really know the price....

@xXCREEKSTARXx sorry I have to. In germany there are Chargers that cost about 80.000 euros BUT this is a collector price. The Charger in the vid is quite stock and cost maybe 4.000 $ back in the day (that's the important price, not todays oldtimer price). Oh and I'm not so pissed off, just wanted to show you the differences...

@xXCREEKSTARXx car wasnt meant to handle. i have seen a worked charger go around corners. dont for get you can make anything handle. they make parts for eveyrhting to handle. the car was built in 69. was meant for crazy tire smoking power. and fun. and drag racing. not turns...ive seen everything from a cadillac handle to a camaro. to each his own man. personally id rather have a car that doesnt handle. speed and corners on the street get you dead but its all personal prefferance=]

The Charger is way to heavy to be racing an STI Subaru......... My buddys 2001 Ram Air S/C Trans Am eats STI's and Evos all day. Go pick on a newer car and leave the 4000 lb cars alone lol. By the way though my 440 Charger beats STI's as well. But my cars worth way to much money to risk injuring it on a dime a dozen Subaru lol

Thank you everyone for your comments! At the time we took the video the STI had a bad exhaust leak and was just not running very well 2 weeks after the video it was fixed and made 426 awhp and 420 awtq on the dyno.

@ISmashFords If thats a 1969 Charger then he replaced the grill with a 1968s, the 1969 had a split grill. Either that or he replaced the real tail lights with that of a 69 but its easier to just change the grill ;).

my 69 charger with a stock 1966 charger 440 ran a 14.52 at the track with thin ass air up here in MT with aired up street tires and a shitty transmission- ive since dumped 5k into the engine and spun a main bearing- got two vids on here though- stock engine vid is charger.mp4 search for dStoltenberg which is my friends handle on here and for the after built engine sound look for 69' charger burnout in the results and a burnin rubber last day of school vid

I just looked at the mods on the STI...I didn't realize they were listed on the description, and didn't know how modified it was...I now see why things went they way they did..Looking at things differently now the Charger did well but Give that charger some gears so it can really get out of the hole and things would have been close.....4000 pounds doesn't wanna move too quick without gears..even mine with 525hp doesn't launch well without at leat some 410's...can't wait to see more...

Something isn't right with that Charger...Or he doesn't drive too well..Theres no way an STI should walk all over it like that...STI's are fast but a big block charger tuned and with a good driver would suck the sti UP THROUGH ITS CARTER CARB AND SPIT IT OUT THROUGH ITS CHROME EXHAUST TIPS..i have a 1970 R/T that would send that STI home with its tail between its legs, but I do respect what they do with 4 cylinders...very impressive.

that sti probably has around 350-400 whp give or take a few. plus power to weight ratio. none the less both cars are amazing. but that sti driver has me a little scarred! lol

The STI was HEAVILY modified. Nothing was stock on that car. The charger is stock with three people in the car. The charger will be getting a rebuild real soon and it will have some more ponies coming out of her. We will post more vids soon!

uh yea you need to be educated. factory 440 charger 375bhp-480tq 3890-3970 depending on transmission and etc. ran mid - high 13's with an experienced driver. although the 04' sti yields the same results factory with an upgraded turbo that flows 50+lb min it has a 500whp limit and this exact sti probably produces 400 whp @ 24psi. and with a good driver could produce mid 11's with ease. You'll never get a factory 440 charger into the 11's...

My buddy had a 2004 wrx sti with mods and the best it pulled at Lebanon valley drag strip was low 13's...You really think 400 horse in anything will produce 11's...I think you need to be educated...i bet you have never drag raced in your life and probably don't own a muscle car of any sort. i however have owned gto's , dodge chargers, late model 5.0 stangs, just to name a few..wrx is cool and fast too, but mid 11's is just way off...

@RTCHARGER1970 actually SIR. i know of a few decently built cars that run lows 13s and 12s. my buds got an 320hp 02 Wrx with an upgraded turbo, exhaust and map. ppg box. runs mid 12s. on 22psi. and my boy has a 89 S10 long bed with a mild 350 in it with 300 hp running 13s. WITH 3.08 GEARS. factory rear end. its all hp to weight. doesnt allways have to be more power more power. you can always lose a few extra pounds off the car. every 100 is a 10th. so you do the math.
