If you look at the tails of RES turtles, you can tell male from female very easily, don't rely on size.
The males have a much thicker tail at the base and about half way it tapers abruptly. Females have a very small and shorter tail compaired to the males.
How are you able to catch so many water turtles??
Cool dude I think I watxhed all ur vids in 1hr. Make more. I live in AZ any turtles here? Any way awesome vids and what happened when u went rock climbing?
Another excellent video by Repkyle. National Geographic material here. I thoroughly enjoy your commentary when displaying the turtle. Most videos do not give the detailed explanations or any explanation like you do.
hey man i caught this 9-10 in. map turtle (female) and im posting the video i took tht day btw my hand were like frozen when i caught her but it was worth it so take a look at it
Around the same time you saw this guy, I caught a red sided garter snake. I live in Kansas and it was actually kinda cold but couple buddies and i were walking along the river and we saw this one snake shoot into the water and we thought we lost it but there was another right there so we caught it studied it for awhile then let it go. So I guess it's time for the reptile season again.

how u tell if its male or female
riley614 3 years ago
males typically have longer claws and have a concave shape to the bottom of their shell. females can get much bigger and have shorter claws.
