Anybody ever notice that when the camera pulls back at the end of "All For The Best" you can see that they are dancing at the top of the Trade Center towers? Scary. But a very good movie.
I am going to be directing this for the opening production of the 75th anniversary season of the Mariemont Players, Inc, in Cincinnati, and would love to communicate with her about the original production. I saw this in Cincy's Shubert Theater in 1973 for 8 performances and was part of the directing team at Purcell H.S. I believe that we were the first amateur contract awarded for this show in 1975. I can be contacted at mikemorehead71@yahoo.com if she would be willing.
I saw a trailer/commercial for this movie on TV back when I was a kid in the 70's, but I don't remember what year. It included a clip of the crucifixion on the fence, which as a child, I thought was really scary and made me not want to see the movie (even if it was rated G!) It took me nearly 30 years to finally see the whole thing, and now that I have -- it's amazing!
I vaguely remember seeing on broadcast TV in the middle of the night on the weekend...like 79-80?I just wonder want the Hannity's and Malkin's of today think of this...would they great,or think it's another example of liberal corruption?
@swimmer1103 I am going to be directing this for the opening production of the 75th anniversary season of the Mariemont Players, Inc, in Cincinnati, and would love to communicate with her about the original production. @swimmer1103: AWESOME! I love your mom in this movie! I'm an actress in my hometown of Philly, & I've always wanted to portray her in the play version of Godspell, since my name is also "Robyn" & I LOVE her song "Day By Day"! Your mom was one of my favorites!
I love this movie as well, I think the 2 must movies for Christians is this and The Passion of The Christ, You couldn't find 2 movies more different but they both make up what it is to be a Christian.
My fav songs is a 3 way tie with Prepare ye the way, day by day, and Woe to you
The Passion of the Christ was nothing more than a snuff film. A gratuitous gore fest created by a man who is so insanely immersed in his cult-like branch of Catholicism that he can't get past his own ego. That's why Mel is getting a divorce. His wife got sick of him telling her she was going to Hell because she wasn't a member of his cult.
i keep thinking about it because of the corruption that i have learned about for so long. I mean last year we learned about the ten commandments and stuff and yes, but compare that to today, and it is nothing like it is. I never saw the Passion, nor did I want to, it seemed like Mel Gibson begging to be beaten up by critics and bishop's alike. Mel Gibson is a stupid S.O.B who deserves to have a divorce, because god-forbid his wife has a brain.
@megarouge2001: Think what you want, but for me, I saw it that way. The Romans @ that time were brutal & they took pleasure in the suffering of others. Do you really think that Christ only died w/ push-pin like wounds in his hands & feet, a tiny gash under his breast & little paper-cut like marks on his back as depicted in most religious art throughout the ages? Do you really think Christ died virtually bloodless? No. Jesus was hearty. It would take a LOT to bring him down & this did it.
@megarouge2001 It's unfortunate to see seemingly reasonable people, such as you, be excessively critical of other people such as Mel. Now, I'm not fan of his, but it takes more discretion, than you’ve displayed, to not depreciate the authenticity film-making of the Passion of the Christ. Moreover, I'd imagine you wouldn't want me to limit you to the reduced version of yourself that I've experienced in this public arena. It’s harmful, to ones sense of perception, to be harsh.
@VaiTrooper Yep, He sure is. It took me a long time to realize that God is God, and His followers don't necessarily represent Him well. I realized I was an atheist because I hated what PEOPLE were doing in God's name, not because of anything God did. It was kind of like hating Elvis because his fan club were dicks.
I own this movie and show every year at Easter to my Faith Formation class. This past week on of the kids wanted to know what the plot was. I told her it was based on the Gospel of St. Matthew and the plot was Jesus' life.
i loooooooooooooooovvvvvvvvvvvveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee this movie!!! i just saw it for the first time last sunday and i fell in love!!!! it's officially my favorite musical of all time
I own this movie, and it's my all time favorite. I watch it every week. I wouldn't be alive without this musical. I saw it the first time when I was six. And Victor Garber actually looks like he does now, exept with big puffy brown hair.
This the tv spot for the movie. I saw this and I was confused big time but I will soon understand it. This is rated G because of the christian aspect for all ages. great trailer/tv spot, good movie! :-)
When I saw this on Television the annoucer said "This Movie Is Suitible for Family viewing". They aired it during holidays(Thanksgivig to Christmas and Easter)
This was the best film ever made,it changed my life, the soundtrack STILL brings tears....SO beautifully done and scripturally accurate, even tho all the Baptist Preachers hated it at the time.
This was "radical" for our day! But a beautiful film, I still love Victor Garber!
I don't know, i see either 1 of 2 things either happening, Either we are on the verge of a new spiritual religious revival where we will see some more movies like this that proclaim the good news and what Jesus tought us and how we can change the world with his help or we are fastly approaching armageddon.
Either way would be God's will, but I really think it is an either or thing
A religious revival may happen, but I doubt it will be Christian. Christianity has become so perverted by politics that it's not anything like what it was supposed to be. I have renounced it myself.

Hunter, I bought it on ebay a couple years ago. It was on 16mm film then. I had it put on VHS, and then put it on the computer.
