The saddest day too bad that they didnt prevail. They made the most advanced tractors in there day and the new case ih look like shit and made of shitty plastic
Anyone who would say the the mid-1980s was "one of the worst periods for Memphis" has a very poor grasp of history. Federal Express was growing very rapidly. International Paper chose the city for its HQ in 1986. Republic Airlines created a hub in 1983. The city became a force in distribution and logistics. Downtown, especially Beale St., started to come back to live.
It was an exciting time for Memphis, especially compared to the dreadful 1970s...or today, for that matter.
Joe Birch was around in 1984? Whooo... and much like Dave Brown, he hasn't changed much at all in that time.

Economically, this was one of the worst periods for Memphis.

The 80s was indeed a sucky period for my city of Memphis. Downtown was an absolute deadzone at that time.

Reganomics *smh*...This Bush era isn't too far behind it, it might have passed it.
playboy03 3 years ago
So I guess what we need is Obamanomics?
greatrey 3 years ago
I'll take that over a third term from Bush!
playboy03 3 years ago
It's a joke. But to each their own.
greatrey 3 years ago
Okay...lol...So to answer...YES we could really use some Obamanomics, although another one of those stimulus checks wouldn't hurt.
playboy03 3 years ago
Well guess what, Playboy, we'll get Obamanomics!

For those who don't know what the DTMC is, it stands for "Danny Thomas Memphis Classic". It's now the FedEx/St. Jude Classic.
