That rare animal, a song added to a musical for a film that is as good as anything in the original score. "No Way to Stop It" was dropped from the film because on stage it provided a way to get Maria off the stage and get a break from a marathon performance but in the film it stopped the action and proved too stagy. A pity; I thought it was the best song in the show. Anyway, Audra is absolutely brilliant here at every level.
2:50 might be the cutest thing in the world. And I have to disagree about Julie Andrews, she makes the scene work in the context of the film--for me, it expresses the nervousness that Maria feels as she is about to embark on this new journey in her life. Audra sings it here with a sunny disposition that just makes you smile, but I think she'd approach it differently if she were playing Maria.
@PaulAnkaToes I was disappointed that the number, "There's No Way to Stop It", was dropped from the movie but this number was added, since I felt and still feel that it is kind of tuneless. I understand the reasoning, to express Maria's feelings at the time, but there was no need for it in the original musical. Also, "There's No Way to Stop It", which deals with the issue of appeasement to the Nazis, was dropped. Audra and Julie did a good job, but I just don't care for this song.
wonder... if this available on DVD?

One of the great musical numbers ever, wrecked by an overly saccharine performance by Julie Andrews in the movie. Audra, you are great!
