Clearly u ppl don't know surgery. The umbilical cord has to b clamped until umbilical tape replaces it and ties it off otherwise the baby's main blood supply will come rolling out!! Duh! And those a typical clamps! Not scissors! Haha. Ridiculous. Typical Americans that dont know what scissors looklike!
You people are idiots. That baby cried. He was in the blanket with clamps on the umbilical cord, not scissors. The baby wasn't wrapped up with scissors, those are CLAMPS! Also, they cut the mother in an approved way. There are 2 ways to cut someone for a c-section. 1 being the traditional "bikini" cut and the other is the way showed in the video. I saw nothing cruel about this video. I will be having my 4th c-section in a few weeks. Not much is different about this c-section and those performed everyday in America. People need to stop over reacting!
The one instrument I see missing here is a retractor. It also looks like some major chaos. I imagine that things are in short supply - this is one of the BETTER OR's I have seen.
At 2:10 I thought it was VERY ROUGH. The C-spine of an infant is fragile. My field is not OB/GYN now but when I was a paramedic I did have to deliver a baby pretty much solo. I was very gentle. This baby was upside down & his HEAD hit the table before the feet!
All-in-all though - Lady was lucky to be close to a hospital with enough families PAYING their BILL so the hospital can PURCHASE supplies!
Better than BOTH dying!
African Doctors DO MORE with LESS - & - WORK DOUBLE HOURS!
This is horrible...I have never seen a c - section take so long...it looked like they had cut the mother the wrong way and not a large enough incision. Maybe there was a reason for it but gee it looked terrible. I hope she recovered ok!
During the delivery, the doctor use a tool to help bring the baby out. That is why the baby head looks like that. Afterwards, the doctor and or mother can shape the baby head to his or her normal size. It's perfectly normal.
LOL. I got scared too when I first saw the way my baby head looked. When the nurses cleaned him up and brought him back to me- his head looked normal.
Are they nurses?this is so dangerous! How about suprapubic incision? The baby has respiratory center depression, low Apgar.reason-prolonged anesthesia due to long lasting surgery.
ohh poor baby jeez they dont even care they just yanked it out... i never want 2 have a ceserian id rather go though pain just pushing then getting my stomach cut open .. nd i feel soz 4 the mother going through all of that :S
Why are you saying "This is Africa"? There are videos here of a Dr. Nana performing open heart surgery in a Cameroon hospital where conditions looks much better than this. I would think each country has a different levels of capacity even within itself. Obviously this is the case in Cameroon.
@ulysse2121 what the hect do you mean this Africa?
y generalise your opinions? in cameroon an intern will never be allowed to perform an important operation like dis, so please inform yourselves before posting, we have trained doctors,
shocking, ive had 5 the usual way but know friends who have had c sects and it was nothing like that. I can only assume that the mother was either dying or both were in such a bad way this was the only option thats upset me in many ways
NW WHY DO YOU GOTTA SAY THAT. they have perfectly Equipment hospitals common. !! IGNORANCE IS A DISEASE. better go to your 1st world Doctor en get that checked. i can smell it from here
it took like 3 minutes to take the baby out once the uterus was open and it was a vertex presentation!!!! and they did a midline!!! and they didnt suction the baby!!!! they are probably not obstetricians....
It was kind of diffucult. If it looks like that the doctors don't know what they are doing, it might be because they are not really doctors. Cesarians are often performed by nurses or other medical personnel in this hospital.

By the shape of the head, it looks as though the baby had dropped into the birth canal already. I'm I right to assume that?
gmaine76 3 years ago
Exactly! The medical term for this is "caput succedaneum". The head already takes on the shape of the birth canal.
