Acer Gemstone white screen of death

Anyone find some parts for this laptop? All I ever see is batteries and adapters, for $40 you can get yourself a 12 cell, versus the normal 4400mAH 6 cell, mine seems to be losing it's will to live, but hoped to get some deal on an MXM II machine, but the cards are still spendy as heck!!

On mine, a new ribbon cable was all the Doctor required, The BIOS pass was defeated via another YouTube user's master passwords, so THANKS!! ACER still being used, most recent issue, the rubber latch support fell off, it's only glued in place. Hinges hold up over time VERY well, keys can pop off this keyboard

Its More Simple Than That, The White Screen usually happens for laptops because when you Shut Down, you also close the lid before you shut down. Doing so tampers with how the Monitor Switches Off. When Shutting down, remember Wait until its completly off before you close the Lid. " Heres How To Fix It " Keep your Finger on The On Button for 30 Seconds when your Laptop is off. Then Let Go of the On Button for it to start up.

i am also having that problem until now since February it was my fault that i put a [what do you call the dolls that you put at the cars winshield , the one like aahum sucking thing] the thing , on my screen after that it started acting like that . SOmetimes when i put a piece of paper at the edge of the screen it goes back to normal but suddenly act like that again

i put a piece of multiple folded paper on top of the lcd cable, just where it goes into the motherboard and voala - it's sorted.

I have ASPIRE 4710Z series of ACER Laptop and i have the same problem that this vedoo has and i am not able to see the + point of the monitor cable. can somebody help me out here to solve my white screen problem.........

@amitsag It slips in to connectors on the screen, PCB and inverter, and then to the motherboard. Just requires a light touch, the screws are behind the rubber screen "bumpers"

i m having the same problem on my aspire 4315 bought new barely 1 year ago. i was told that it could be problems with *motherboard, *lcd, *lcd cables/inverter, * wiring connections inside lid, *video card. cost of repair estimation is almost 50% of original purchase price. it is now back in the box collecting dust in my study and i have recently got myself a dell. i would never ever purchase another acer product again. never again.

I got mine liquidating from Pawn America, the Malware struck the pirated Vista so I had to purge the drive, luckily it ran in SAFE mode and I moved most files off it to flash USB. Mine has the web cam, it is a 4710, there is 4 variations, mine has Core Duo, and 512MB, added 1GB, and 120GB drive, it was partitioned into two sections however. I couldn't restore Windows. The white screen comes and goes, it's likely an interconnect at the inverter/vid board, nothing critical to operation

Have the problem with my Extensa 5630. Guys from service said about the official (but confidential for services only) letter from Acer about LCDs' incompatibility with laptops they are installed in. This includes a number of Acer laptops series including Extensa 5630 and, probably, your ones.

Wondering how do they feel to sell products a priory known to be broken... B...rds!

Run diagnostic software, I believe it will report the LCD as LG manufacture. I know I had mine reported, oh yeah, it was Suse Linux 10, it reads the hardware profile!

I think that we can not fix this problem ourself! The faulty due to some non compatible LCD from Acer. You should send your laptop back to Acer to have another LCD panel changed to fix it.
