I've never heard this version. It is incredible. I never thought of this song as being Country or Bluegrass... but oddly enough... it works. Great tune.
Actually, it is not from the album The Award Winning Country Gentlemen. That was released on Rebel Records in 1972. It came from the album, The Country Gentlemen Featuring Ricky Skaggs On Fiddle, released on Vanguard Records in 1973.
On the two records they recorded for Vanguard, A young Jerry Douglas played dobro. I have both of these recordings still on LP. As for Eddie Adcock, this version of the Gentlemen was about 3 years after he had left the group.
ya this is an awesome version but i know another good version check out hillbillie express they do the same song and Mike Auldridge does an awesome job on the dobro
