Skiing is cool. But before snowboarding it was going no where. Snowboarding saved and changed what we call skiing. Parabolic skis would not exist. honestly I ski and snowboard, both very well, (chutes, cliff drops, bowls, etc) I also do parks. Generaly I think while snowboards have some advantages, skiers have more, ski's can do everything boards can and more. More variety of tricks, you dont spend your time sliding sideways, you can go fast. Its generally more fun in my opinion

first of all, snowboarding didnt change the shape of our skis. Shane McConkey came up with the revolutionary design and call them spatulas. Powder skis all started from there, and then progressed and changed to fit different aspects of the sport

Avalanges are from loaded snow, On steep slopes. The wind from a storm loads a lot of heavy snow on the other side of the wind. Stay off bowls and open areas the first few days after a big storm, the trees work as a ancor to help hold the snow on the slope. also stay off of corneses the heavy load at the top of ridges. some times the weight of one person is just enough to trigger a slide. If you do want to ride bowls shuits or more open steep slopes its a good idea to take turns one at a time.

Oh yea! The area it fell into was a high traffic run that was closed at the time, but the mist of snow actually engulfed people skiing down lower. I think it might have gotten bigger than the patrol initially intended.

It was my first time helicopter skiing, and I was filming the helicopter ride because I thought it was awesome, and I literally just happened to be flying over baldy at exactly the right time with my camera already filming! Pretty crazy!
