I have lived in China in the past and will be returning there again in the near future, so I can illuminate you on a few issues. Copyright is respected and ignored. If it is a Chinese or Hong Kong brand the laws are strict, but for foreign brands no one really cares unless there is a complaint. In China the government can't cover the bullet train incident or anything ells because Chinese people have a saying, "When it's secret, everyone knows. When it's not a secret, everyone wants to know."
Copyrights and Patents Laws are just some Jewish languages created superstitions. Copyrights don't protect free flows of information but code out most intellectual information from the population using names and logo. Talking about being kept in the dark. Patents wars are the reality of Patents Laws so courts, a religious ritual, can rule things public to private ownership and steal all efforts and capital resources from the population. We sensed these from Corporate America.
also, fear of a chinese take over is just plain stupid. im sorry, but its true that the chinese have never held conquests outside of china. yet the western world is plagued by war for land and expansion. even if china does come to the top of the world, whats the problem? they have too many internal problems right now to think of anything else, and by the time they rise above america, more than likely, they will have sorted out the corruption in the country
i just came back from china fairly recently, and i watched this on chinese news. they're actually showing it on tv now, but from my perspective, it seems like a lot of people have become sceptical of trains in china. the general idea seems like the train developers cut costs (as usual) by not installing their safety devices properly, and then not reading the rule books. i.e. pushing the trains 30-40 mph faster than they're meant to go. a multitude of factors come together, disaster.
how can you sell tech that you bought from other countries? When did Japan do that? Instead of limiting the speed of the trains for safety, they show off saying that they have the fastest trains in the world... Japans bullet train has had 0 fatalities since its launch in 1964. The train can go faster but it is restricted for Safety reasons. The government says they are trying to crack down on the bootleg industries, but come on..That IS their industry.
you have to understand that so many Chinese make a living by making copies of good commodities of foreign countries. they are also human who have their children's tuition to pay. As a matter of course, Chinese government can't ban the activities very soon to contribute to the unemployment rate. Just like the RMB currency exchange rate, if Chinese government make the currency appreciate, it 'll lead to severe consequences of unemployment or even social turmoil .
no. sorry for that I'm not living in China and my late response. I am actually very mad with my government's stupid action it took after the accident. absolutely what u said, "the growing pain" is the best word to express the problem. I confess copying is really bad. You have to notice that China and Japan is in the different process of developing. Japan is a mature country, and Japan also made copies and many environmental hazard occurred during Japan's fast growing era.
April 25,2005, japanese commuter train came off the tracks at Amagasaki near Osaka, 410km (255 miles) west of Tokyo, and the front two carriages rammed into a building, 107 were killed, 555 was injured.
June 3 1998 train crashed near the village of Eschede in the Celle district of Lower Saxony, Germany. The toll of 101 people dead and 88 (estimated) injured.
Japanese trains was express, they derailed at curve with speed 116km/hr. German train was high speed train, and ran at 200km/hr when got crash. Both accident was caused by technical problem: japanese trains was lost control of speed; german trains was because of one wheel was broken.
China accident is not high speed train. It is express on regular railway(160-230km/hr). We use complete separate system for high speed train(250-350km/hr) and regular train.
They were not bullet trains. They were old. The Chinese trains were NEW. And nobody was bragging. And they were not buried. And I don't care because that happened in 2005. I comment on NEWS, not HISTORY in this video.
The "快速列車" mean rapid service train, which only operate on narrow gauge lines, not the standard gauge high-speed Shinkansen lines. And, the Amagasaki accident was caused by human error, and the lack of ATS-P. It wasn't a technical problem. Read the article on wikipedia if you need
China is an undemocratic communist state. Japan is a durable and stable democracy. we cannot compare these two cuz they are so different in many ways.
China, weirder than Japan. U gotta admit, Japan's got some weird stuff, but in a good way. China in the other hand is weird in a bad way unfortunately.
Uh.. yeah, I don't understand what you are trying to say. Listen kid, I've made over 2,000 videos all over the internet. Some of them about my life, some of them teaching English or Japanese, some of them about news stories, some are comedy. You've seen one and you've decided I'm an asshole. Fair enough. I'm not going to try to make you like me. No time. You can find my videos by clicking on some of links that are located under this video -- click the SHOW MORE arrow or not.
@luoxiongfeng89 - I agree with your perception of that video. He could have stuck to the "factual" aspect while also retaining a little awareness of the cultural differences in how things are viewed. He did indeed look in his element didn't he! Gleeful.
This video is about how Japanese media is covering the story. It is not really relevant whether or not I know anything about the actual case. I laugh in the face of death, but in this case I was laughing at other funny things in China -- like the fake apple stores. Now I will laugh at your self-righteous post. Are you prepared? Here I go. HA. HA. HA.
Get a lot of China phobia stories in the states... I chalk it up to media's tendency to sensationalize stories. I'm not worried about China taking over... For most of it's history they were more concerned with stability within it's borders not so much expansion.
@yld629 - hi, good to find another person on here redressing the balance. China never was interested in taking over the world. we know from history that the Chinese were the people who were invaded. First by the Mongols and then miscellaneous countries in the west. The Chinese survived as best we could. Even took back Hong Kong after almost a hundred years. Ironic of the west to 'fret' about a Chinese take-over when it was the psyche of the west to colonise and take what do not belong to them
You're right! China is a super fake! It reminds me the Soviets in the 1970's trying to copy the concorde plane with their Tupolev... Even if the kgb stole the plans, they were not able to built a decent plane! And russians were not newcomers in the sky... Many french companies bring back in France their factories, because chinese cannot do the job when you need "solid" stuff... For a basic tee shirt, its ok, but dont ask for more than that...
seems like you were rushing in this video lol im chinese born canadian and the apple thing is just real sad. my uncle came to visit us from shanghai and bought my mom a dual-sim card cellphone (they dont really sell those where i live) and it was horrible cuz its a no-name brand, but its made to look exactly like the iphone. same interface, everything. but the operating system isnt as awesome as apple's, so it lags like crazy. makes me sad since im an iphone user.
I saw the Mac/Apple story on the NTDTV English version news report. Copied everything down to the employee uniform shirts....Also: recently read about an international law firm that won a landmark case: 1st time a landlord in China was held responsible for not evicting copyright infringers.
I want to tell you if you do want to judge a nation or people by their government who takes over their country. that is the most horrible thing. even I give you a UP, but I hope you can get more real informations which are not official from Chinese government.
Government ≠ Nation & their people Sorry for my poor English.
Chinese government combine the technologies of Japan and German but actually these two technologies are not compatible with each other. Although China claimed the technology of china high-speed train is a world class safe system, no one believe it now.
They just buried the train 17 hours after the accident.
They just claimed there is no life signals after 7 hours but a little girl was rescued after that.
I don't how many people/bodies was buried with the train.
@TangYiliang In fact government knows how many people was involved in this human disaster because Chinese should buy the ticket by their own ID card. But they never announce it to public.
Most of the counterfeit news I hear in the states are from investigative report type reporting not much of china doing in local news,it was nice to hear that from someone in that side of the world 平和と愛
The majority of my Chinese friends hold negative opinions of their government and while some are strong nationalists think that their country would be much better off with a major restructuring of the government.
Because you guys never live in such horrible system, you cant really understand what would happen if there is no rule of law but only one party rule, I feel the empathy from most of the Germans who are from east part and elder than 35 years old. Please voice up to criticize the party dictatorship, criticize the human right abusing, no free speech. I am a China born Chinese working in London, Thank you!
Hi mate, I agree with your analysis, however I really don't like the tone and facial when you made this broadcast, no sympathy and empathy at all . Chinese government is nasty, the CCP is evil, if you are smart analyst, you probably know the PESTEL method to analyse the contextual environment to find out the root cause, and that's the political frame and regime led all those "human disaster" and all sorts terrible things.
Oh yeah, I think it's their upbringing. You gotta do what you gotta do to make money etc. If they see something is doing well, and they want that kind of money, they go for it. They just do what they must I guess. It doesn't justify it though, because the original creators busted their asses to be where they are right now, and they're basically just remaking what was made over the course of years, in a week/month. =\
As far as China dominating the world, or at least the entire Asian continent. You better be prepared for it because sooner or later they will try it, as many cultures throughout history have tried to do.
Victor, I think that all the copyright infringement and piracy that China does is very despicable, disrespectful, and dirty. They don't design and make their own technology, they steal everyone else's technology. I have heard everything you can think of from cars, eggs, foodstuffs, electrical, etc. being pirated by China. Occasionally, some of the stuff make's it's way here into the US and you usually hear about it containing high levels of lead, cadmium, or some other toxic substance.
Thank you for uploading. Good video as always.
haha the thunder sound came through as soon as you started talking about China! Better watch out! .... for what exactly I'm not entirely sure lol.... but yeah!!
First off, I often tend to personalize with another notion or mentality, so far as how I feel about Chinese people, it always varies person to person, ABC I've met were always nice and polite and hard working. Chinese people I've met via Skype/Lang-8 were hit or miss, sometimes very belligerent and others very curious. As far as their Govt , I admire their survival tactics but also think that they are growing with too much haste and should take a more vicarious approach to their growth.
Oh! I loved the video! Very informative and interesting. :)
Lol fake Apple stores! XD I heard about this a couple of days ago.
It is a quite amazing how the Chinese are so good at copying and imitating other nations' technologies and products. It reminds me of how Japan was at the time of it's Modernization period, after the feudal times.
@Gimmeaflakeman LOL....i think 360 degrees much accurate. The author of the poem tried to find a person in a market, you can image how it would be if you are looking for a person among crowds.
70%of 1.3 billion people are still in agriculture. The rules about everyting, traffic copy right. They dont seem to care at all. I'm chinese my self and i think they better wake up in their Chinese dream and face the reality and help their people out rather than just building some junk highway that no cars run on it
I agree with what you've said, and I believe for China as a nation to progress, the mentality of the Chinese people need to change somewhat, especially when it comes to copyright and quality of products (the later especially). I agree that sometimes we Chinese care too much about 'face', that we forget what's important; and that is a pretty exterior is nothing without a solid and quality interior.
People in China should wake up from this really. Before they were thinking about taking over the world in 20 years with 10% GDP growth. And building everything thats world's NO1 is obviously the way to go.The government and people become ignorant about how far behind we really are from the west. They think as long as build stuff the longest, fastest, tallest, biggest, we can prove the chinese are the best. But the reality is there're still so many people in poverty
The bullet train are german and japanese technology bought by chinese. But Chinese invented their own railway communication system that controls all the lights on the railway and stuff. And this is where the problem is, when the first train stopped, the light for the second train is still green saying go ahead. imagine driving a 300km/h train in the dark, when you see another train in the front, there's nothing you can do.
honestly i don't have any thing against the chinese as a people, but as a country and society they have alot of aspects that are very concerning and not very appealing to me.
i had family in china for 5 years. one of the funniset copyright stories was that someone got sued for writing another harry potter book. they didnt really realize that you couldnt do that haha
I seen him a little while ago on Jimmy Kimmel's talk show because he is in the new film Cowboy's and Aliens. When you had the facial hair. At least on video. You both look rather similar =D
Oh and uh. Counting the seconds from when you see the flash of lightning to actually hearing is approximately the miles away it struck.
Also. Probably not the best idea to have electronic equipment or anything you value plugged in, in a lightning storm. Running water like a shower=bad 2
I'm Chinese by birth but live in the US and I have access to info both in China and US. Whomever worried about China taking over the world probably know very little about China. All the issues mentioned in this video are extremely small, really, compared to other things happening there now. There will have to be a change of gov b4 China can do anything close to taking over the world...
@sofiaswim >All the issues mentioned in this video are extremely small,
so true,,,,for example, American and Japanese have killed at least 170,000 innocent civilian in Iraq but,,,,,no media talks about its human right violation ..........
EXTREMELY small? Subjective opinion. Check the last link in the description. If it's so small why is it being censored?
BUT I do agree that what happened in Iraq is an embarrassment. However -- and this is not my opinion -- using the "war" label makes it easier to sell and less likely to get criticized.
@dekkkaimara Some self-righteous bastards with mutilated penis tend to blame other ethnic group while massacring others too. They speculate speculate and speculate and they even create witches or WMD which can destroy earth,,,,,,,,,,
You are repeatedly saying "that's is interesting or this is interesting ?"
Could you stop the word, "interesting" because stealing technology is Not interesting but that's communist plot! And many American companies are shutting down because China, evil, communist take pics of American machine and copied it all and put Chinese names and trying to sell! Stop your word, "interesting!" this is a very serious problem in the world ! you had better come home to see from America, bokeruyo!!
I haven't heard any of this in the US.....but I did hear about the apple store incident lol china will always provide the lulz in how to deal with stuff in their country. Weibo is like facebook I heard?
all this stuff about the train copyrights is well know to me atleast (i live in sweden) and that´s mainly because they were talking on the radio about how the chinese buy stuff and then "steal" it (this was reffering to Geely buying Volvo). The derailed train has also been in the news, although i only heard that 2 trains were crashing and that they are really angry at the chinese transport minster (is that what they call him?)
hey Victor, there are lots of English language sources of news of China on the web that you could read for yourself. I've noticed that the economist and national geographic are very fond of covering China. Also, here are some article titles from AlJazeera English on international relations: 'China: Pakistan is our Israel', 'China opens new markets for Asia', 'US: China lacks morals in Africa' (from leaked cables) 'Obama vows tougher stance on China'.
@Gimmeaflakeman I thought you wanted to know what was in western media about China since you only know about the Japanese coverage. my bad if that wasn't it. btw I was PlausibleNerdfighter
In the curry mile- a stretch of south Asian restaurants and take aways in Manchester- Chinese people walk in and out of all the take aways all day with a bag full of all the latest movies on dvd. You can't be there for long without getting approached by a chinese guy with a big bag saying 'dvd'.
@oukouxp Anyway, if you don't know the poem, normally it can be 100 degress when you read it first time, not wrong. I just wanna say, languages make misunderstandings.
"copying" is how our human species survived. When farming was invented in the Middle east everyone copied them. When china invented paper, everyone copied them. It is human nature to copy, why re-invent the wheel right?
Also I think china will keep pirating because western companies want to pay local wages (1 or 2 dollars a day) but charge western prices for their goods. If western products cost the same as the local stuff there will be a lot less incentive to pirate.
Born and raised in Beijing myself (I'm not chinese AT ALL no chinese blood, no chinese passport) Now currently living in Tokyo and loving it. Also enjoying the unlimited access to Youtube, Twitter and Facebook without having to use a VPN. My father is a patent lawyer working in China and I can absolutely confirm that yes in Mainland china..they DO NOT respect copyright laws.
copyrights get really interesting, because tecnically if you tweak something a little bit and then it's no long copyright. For example all spirite and sierra mist are bascially the same just tweaked a bit.
I'm chinese and i completely agree. they also have renren.com as their facebook, recently a fake ipad called epad... its a country full of history and culture but its post wwii government is NOT something im proud of.
Well I was watching a chinese news station called CCTV this morning and they interviewed some professors who teach at some chinese universities who were saying that the systems used in the trains needed to be reconfigured and looked at closely to prevent something like this from happening again. I guess we'll see if it happens, eh?
Here in the US don't broad cast many Chinese news. People is speculate that China will invade and try to take over the US because of the money owed to them, maybe more now than ever since the US congress can't come with a solution on the over a trillion dollars deficit that the country has right now. As right now the US is facing a default on the debts.
@CAesuoMykcM If anyone honestly believes that China would EVER be dumb enough to invade the U.S. they're seriously not giving the Chinese enough credit. First of all, they've never even make it here, they like a real blue water Navy that could hold a candle to the U.S. Navy.
@elsamuraiguapo Unless they meant it in a sense of metaphorically invading the US. As in finicially invading the US i guess, since the US gov does owe the chinese huge amount of debt. they probably meant literally thought. People always say stupid things when they're scared.
Americans really need to stop believing our military is better than any other.. It isn't.
And China doesn't have a need to invade since most of their business is from us and the majority of the debt is owed to the citizens, not China. The corporate controlled "news" says it's China though. Wanna guess why?
Little legalese here. My understanding based on a JV my dad is working on in China. Chinese law states that 70% of good manufactured for sale there have to be contract out to Chinese companies. This makes it obvious how the trains have been cloned given JR East's failed Joint Venture there. Also makes me think the Chinese trains aren't faster, they are just running at JR East's test speeds, well outside Japanese Safety & Noise Guidelines.
Finally, they are trying to sell to California too.
"Nobody cared about the islands and Japan took them over in 1895, and when...after WW2, America took the islands, took everything, took a lot of stuff, Okinawa et cetera in [indiscernable] occupied Japan for a long time, and in 1972 I believe, they gave everything back, but, when they announced this in 1970/1971, suddenly, after all this time of silence...
...China suddenly uh, decided that they wanted the islands, so after all this time, they had to speak up, which I think that's really the only chink in the Chinese argument; no pun intended."
Okay, watched it. Was about how the Chinese government now wishes to claim territory from the Japanese (Oh no, it was theirs first! No you! You! Your momma, etc. - that whole powder-keg of an issue aside).
He didn't smile or grin afterwards, like "hurr hurr, I'm a funny guy", but perhaps he felt sheepish, which I guess is why he then pre-emptively apologized with "no pun intended", knowing that when the word chink and China are used together, there is a racial connotation.
It's well known that chink has a different meaning in English, I believe it comes from the idiom "a chink in the armour", i.e. a missing link in the chainmail of a warrior which can be pierced by an enemy weapon.
In context it basically means that something is flawed in some way. I guess the only parallel I can think of is when black people respond with 'What do you mean, you people?' when people used the phrase 'you people', even when in context it is clear that the speaker is referring to other people (over there) or in the abstract.
Possibly this has all been due to language barriers, or perhaps due to oversensitivity to subjects that refer to ethnicity, but all that aside...I don't think this proves that Victor is a racist. Not by a long shot.
Sure, he could haved used the word 'flaw', 'deficiency', 'anomaly' or others, but he did a straight rant and he used the word chink, the context of which he picked up on and apologized for *in ze video*! >.<
@logicaust - have to comment on YOUR comments despite my informing flakeman that I won't be in here again. I had to grab some sleep last night, did not "flounce" away as you mocked. There is a sense of the schoolyard mentality on here. You talk about ''freedom of speech' and yet when your collective viewpoint on here is challenged, out comes words such as "vacuous", "closeminded prick" "pussy" (from kwad8).and of course "wtf the Chinese" from Mr American/Japenese flakeman himself.
@logicaus- as you can see, I am not too adept at sending my messages on here - so your 'suggestion' that I was "trolling" is hardly fair. I don't quite know what "troll" means other than that it must be another dismissive response to what you disagree with. Free speech works both ways, logicaust. But not on here.going by the mentality of the authentic PRICKS like kwad8. As for the Chink word and its intent - it is not up to you to dismiss it. You are not Chinese - your perspective differs.
@Hansing06 BTW a TROLL is some who posts comments (usually inflammatory) in order to make people angry and get a response. For no reason other reason than get attention.
@kwad8 Reading through these comments i see that you are quick to disregard other people's opinions and write them off as "trolls" simply because they have differing views to you? Please take a word of advice from an obviously wiser person... Grow up, be civil... geez...
I happen to agree that this Victor character spends far too much time being self righteous on youtube to loyal puppy fans such as yourself. Reading all this anti China trash talk is pathetic.
You seem to know me well to make such bold statements. Thanks for watching so many of my videos. Oh, wait, were you talking out of your ass? Sorry, my bad.
@vernjackie HAHA! Actually you got me all wrong. I actually enjoy when people have different opinions. Its a learning tool. What I don't is people who have opinions just because, meaning for no logical reason or rationale. You have whatever opinion you want but be prepared to back up your opinion and you say. and I mean that for anyone and everyone. If I think Someone is being closed-minded especially if its because of "nationalistic" ideology I am going to call them on it.
@vernjackie To me Hansing08 fits that mold. Maybe you do too. I am not sure yet. You two "appear" to be getting offended simply because certain people have made negative comments about China. Some of which ARE FACTUALLY TRUE. You immediately call the people haters, bigots etc and try to refute what they say. n without any evidence or anything. If someone did say something FACTUALLY wrong then prove they were wrong. If you can't be honest about the subject, I will put you on BLAST for it!!!!
@kwad8 -Your posts sat in my mail box for some while. As I have walked away I debated as to whether I should let your taunts go - or come by with a response. In the end I decided that you 'deserve' a reply - first to the messages that you had BLASTED to me via email - and also to your latest 'Hansing' attacks in your exchages with another person on here. You call me a bigot when you are one yourself. A Chinese person comes in here and expresses an opposing viewpoint and you launch your 'attack'
@Hansing06 What is your view point? You never expressed your view point you just denied and denounced everyone else's view point. what is you view point? I really want to know.
@kwad8 - you 'demand' 'proof' of another person's perception of these China-related videos? Perspective is subjective. This forum is posted on a public domain. Someone who comes in with a viewpoint from the other side of the fence DOES NOT have to give you chapter and verse of how we perceive this forum. But what the hell - you can have it anyway. The content may be "factually true" - it is the TONE behind it that we find disquieting. Underlying what is said is the GLEE in saying it.
@Hansing06 You are correct. Perspective is subjective. However people cannot understand or learn from that perspective if you don't explain the reason for the perspective or opinion. "We" do you speak for all chinese now? What "TONE" are you referring too?
@kwad8 - I don't know if you are being obtuse or if you really did not get the gist of my posts. Clarifying again for you. I refer to the TONE of this video on the train crash in China. The content may be 'factual', but underlying that is the TONE in delivering it. I see on here that another Chinese person has referred to the same thing. And no, the other person is not I "trolling" in another guise. What you don't seem to get is that underlying this train video is the GLEE in saying it.
@kwad8 - you came at me with a personal attack with your very first post. Called me "pussy", accused me of being a "narrow minded prick". I paid you back with the same coinage - personal you wanted, personal you should get. You can dish out but can't take? Blast me will you? - as in 'demolish' and 'detonate'? The Americans are good at that. They marched into Vietnam to BLAST it. Did not win that war. Then it was the Middle East. Bet they wish they could 'take' China too.
@Hansing06 Yes i did. I wanted to get your attention. Maybe I'm wrong but you just appears to be like someone who cannot take criticism about China. Regardless of where they come from people who are closed minded i find really annoying. You misunderstood my usage of "blast." I meant blast as in a really loud noise. as in blast the speakers. America may not have won the vietnam war but Vietnam isn't "Communist" anymore.
@kwad8 - believe me kwad8, I find you equally annoying. So we are in agreement there at least. I don't give a damn with regard to criticisms of China's government. Things could be a lot better for the people. But I also quesiton the west's 'reasons' for this watching brief over China's politics - because you know what? - for some in the west, there seems to be no demarcation lines between bashing China and bashing China's people. Some posts on here certainly illustrated that sentiment.
Some posts on here even stated that "the Chinese" must not be allowed to accumulate "power", that China must be 'stopped'. Flakeman 'decided'' in his video that China's emergence won't last. So all right, you may say that it was a reference to the government - but why even be like that? Why resent China's rising power? In any case, who are these people in the west to believe that they can "stop"' the Chinese? As for your wanting to "BLAST" me - I did not misunderstand that it was figurative.
@kwad8 - A" loud noise BLAST" carries a statement of swagger and aggressive intent just the same. The idea on here seems to be that a Chinese person's opposing viewpoint must automatically carry no legitimacym that I MUST be a "troll" or I must be a Chinese politician. So tell me Kwad8, who is "closeminded"? I do no like some of China's policies - but this does not mean that I welcome a wholesale Chinese bashing by some in the west.
@kwad8 - I 'called' Flakeman on this train video because we perceived that there was a sense of GLEE in his 'China'-Chinese' reports'. In another video he phrased his 'report' with - "The Chink in the Chinese argument ...." as though he did not mean anything by it. And maybe he did not. But then, why would he risk being misconstrued? Freudian slip? Makes it all right then! You can mix and match what is "factual" with a dose of the snide and BLAST those who dare to call you on it?
@Hansing06 Why do you keep saying "we" do you speak for all chinese? Are you a chinese government worker? Do you work for "The Party" The word chink has other meanings than the racist one. These meanings actually were in use before it was used as a racial slur.
@kwad8 -yes, the chink word exists in the English vocabulary. I majored in English and English Literature, I taught in college before switching to writing. The chink word in itself may be innocuous. When used as it was in one of Flakeman's videos, within the context of - quote - "The chink in the Chinese argument....." it took on a different nuance. My CHINESE perspective. Please have the grace to acknowledge that how it came over to me may not be how you may prefer to view it as an American.
@kwad8- I came by and you and your fellow member on here taunted me as a "troll". You came into my mailbox with your 'definition' of what the word means, heapling more of your personal attack on me. In your world, anyoine who challenges you on here is a "troll". And you don't see yourself as a bigot. Why not? - because you are bumming around Asia 'teaching' Oriental people to say 'good morning' in English? The Japanese are your best friends so therefore you can't be racist? .
@Hansing06 No challenge me all you want. I am not always right. i am willing to admit when i am wrong. How can you get offended by the word "troll" when you didn't know the meaning at first. You are one of two things. 1. You like victor and have been watching vids for a long time and then got "offended" with this vid or 2 you know nothing about victor and just browse youtube for anti-chinese videos and then comment to defend china regardless of the truth. #2=troll. i.e. trolling for trouble.
@kwad8 - ha ha - you jest. This train video was the only one that I took time to watch. Not because I am a 'fan' - no Chinese person can be comfortable in this 'room'. Put it this way - you wouldn't feel welcome in a room where the underlying sentiment is American bashing. A Chinese friend said to me that I should come in here at least one time so I would get a sense of what she means. She told me about the other video - the chink/Chinese' one. I don't trawl 'anti-Chinese' videos online, kwad8.
@kwad8 - I don't like you and those like you. Don't like your double standards. The Chinese have never done anything to you, not as a natioin and not as a people. Never went to war with the west. The British plundered and stole so many of our objets d art, took over Hong Kong for almost a hundred years, inducted generations of the Chinese to BRITISH opium. Demonise us with labels. And here you are, a different era - same animosity.
@Hansing06 You make a lot of assumptions and your facts are wrong. First i could be chinese-american. you don't know. Second you are WRONG. China has went to war with the West. Millions of Chinese soldiers fought in the Korean war on the side of Communist North Korea. Chinese soldiers killed and injured tens of thousands of US and UN soldiers. I don't dislike Chinese people but i do dislike the chinese government. China is not innocent victim. I could ask you about the China-Tibet issue
@kwad8 - IF you are a Chinese-American, I would say 'shame on you' for going with the flow. You should be standing up for your roots. The Korean war, the war in Vietnam, the present invasion in the Middle East - haven't you got it yet? - Why do the Americans ASSUME that they are the world's Police? Why this paranoia about communism in the first place! America likes to meddle and is a terrbile warmonger. This is my viewpoint - you won't BLAST me for it, will you!
@kwad8 - I don't think that I am quivering in my shoes anticipating your threats, your swagger and your macho BLASTS. The Americans are not as unassailable as they think they are. You are just a blip on a fast changing landscape.
It is not about the content on this forum - it is TONE of it. Undelying what is said - and the posts that support the content, is the GLEE in saying it. Ask yourselves WHY my CHINESE perspective does not recognise altruism on here, only the GLEE. No honesty on here.
@Hansing06 you are right again. american is not unassailable and is a blip on the changing landscape. I know this that is not a big deal. Yes many americans are clueless. Ill put them on blast them too if needed.
What "Glee" are you talking about? i don't understand?
@kwad8 -Tibet issue - personally I believe China should leave it to the Tibetans. Sink or swim, let them be. However, take a look at the wes whot chooses to 'forget' their colonization history..America, Australia, South Africa - no far -flung continent was safe from the west's clutches. So now you condemn China her NOT SO-FAR-FLUNG claim on Tibet. Double standards always on the west's menu. You want to 'debate' further, give me your email address. As you say, debate is a learning tool.
@logicaust - Before the schoolyard mentality kicks in again I wish to say this - I am not the only Chinese person to be antagonised by your hero flakeman with regard to "wtf the Chinese"- (note, it was not 'wtf the Chinese government' but "wtf the Chinese". He succeeds only too well to alienate us. You talk about speech freedom on here. Two-way street. Mr Flakeman feeds on his ego in front of his cameras. Arrogant and full of himself with a 'special' dislike and envy of "wtf the Chinese".
@logicaust - I don't dislike Americans or the Japanese. To maintain this status quo, I walk away from this forum. NOT "FLOUNCE", logiccaust. And not "bitch and run" as Mr Flakeman taunted.. He is the one who bitches. Don't want to end up feeling contemptuous of the Americans or the Japanese as a consequence of being exposed to the animosity towards the Chinese on here. You cannot launch a relentless taunt against a country with impunity and not alienate her people somewhere along the way. Bye.
Looks like you "dislike viewpoints that oppose yours". LOL
Thanks for the postings. Where in this vid I am insulting? U did not answer any questions I aked. Can you defend ur country's government?
I talked to a real Chinese person in real life here in Japan who had the guts to tell me in front of a room of Japanese that she thought that the J media was lying. People argued with her, but I defended her right to that opinion. You on the other hand...Stop acting like a douche, man.
News that I've seen (Canada and international Internet) suggests the lightning strike activated a system safety shutdown circuit. (similar to the shinkansen quake auto-shutdown, makes sense electric trains, lighting could mess with the grid) If true, this leaves a question of whether the moving train failed to shutdown or if the operator over-rode safeties.
Vic, I've been learning japanese for exactly 1 week and a half and I got so happy when I read the Nextup title and actually understood what I read that day. Today the same happened. This may sound a little... meaningless... for you I mean, but, you were probably The Guy that made me want to learn Japanese. Thanks bro.
logicaust - past my bed time where I am. Bed for me. Just in case you begin to think that I am 'dancing' away from you on here - I do not "flounce". Only the petulant does that. You misread my meaning about the timeline. He was saying that the chink word did not surface in his latest video - and I reminded him that it did come up in an earlier one. I questioned what I view as an invalid excuse on his part as to WHEN the chink word had actually been used, as though this would actually negate it.
Actually, in your comment, you said that 'my boys told me...I haven't watched it'. So basically, you making an assumption...based upon an assumption. Again, to me, this is the very definition of being vacuous, or of having nothing meaningful to say/contribute.
If Victor used the word chink in a racist way, I would be very surprised.
Whenever I see something like this, I always post the video link and timestamp to prove I'm not talking bulldust. Could you do the same?
@logicaust i can confirm that he did say that as i made a comment on that video. i am half chinese myself so i took notice. in this instance, I did find it offensive as it seemed a bit to convenient to use this phrase when talking about this topic. watch it from 1.50
I have lived in China in the past and will be returning there again in the near future, so I can illuminate you on a few issues.

C'mon! Japan started also as a copycat nation in the early years. To improve, one must first copy.

LeeroyChenkins 5 months ago
i just came back from china fairly recently, and i watched this on chinese news. they're actually showing it on tv now, but from my perspective, it seems like a lot of people have become sceptical of trains in china. the general idea seems like the train developers cut costs (as usual) by not installing their safety devices properly, and then not reading the rule books. i.e. pushing the trains 30-40 mph faster than they're meant to go. a multitude of factors come together, disaster.
LeeroyChenkins 5 months ago
how can you sell tech that you bought from other countries?

Just like the RMB currency exchange rate, if Chinese government make the currency appreciate, it 'll lead to severe consequences of unemployment or even social turmoil .
thurendous 5 months ago
no. sorry for that I'm not living in China and my late response.

Can you say something?
qinqin980120 6 months ago
@qinqin980120
Re the Japanese trains. They were not express trains. They were regular trains. Old.
The trains were not buried.
Gimmeaflakeman 6 months ago
@Gimmeaflakeman
We use complete separate system for high speed train(250-350km/hr) and regular train.
qinqin980120 6 months ago
@qinqin980120
They were not bullet trains. They were old. The Chinese trains were NEW. And nobody was bragging. And they were not buried. And I don't care because that happened in 2005. I comment on NEWS, not HISTORY in this video.
Gimmeaflakeman 6 months ago
@qinqin980120
About the "japanese train was express," it was a rapid service:
"事故列車は、宝塚発JR東西線経由片町線(学研都市線)同志社前行きの上り快速列車である" (from wikipedia)
The "快速列車" mean rapid service train, which only operate on narrow gauge lines, not the standard gauge high-speed Shinkansen lines. And, the Amagasaki accident was caused by human error, and the lack of ATS-P. It wasn't a technical problem. Read the article on wikipedia if you need

Get a lot of China phobia stories in the states... I chalk it up to media's tendency to sensationalize stories. I'm not worried about China taking over... For most of it's history they were more concerned with stability within it's borders not so much expansion.
yld629 6 months ago
@yld629 - hi, good to find another person on here redressing the balance. China never was interested in taking over the world. we know from history that the Chinese were the people who were invaded. First by the Mongols and then miscellaneous countries in the west. The Chinese survived as best we could. Even took back Hong Kong after almost a hundred years. Ironic of the west to 'fret' about a Chinese take-over when it was the psyche of the west to colonise and take what do not belong to them
Hansing06 6 months ago 6
You're right! China is a super fake! It reminds me the Soviets in the 1970's trying to copy the concorde plane with their Tupolev... Even if the kgb stole the plans, they were not able to built a decent plane! And russians were not newcomers in the sky... Many french companies bring back in France their factories, because chinese cannot do the job when you need "solid" stuff... For a basic tee shirt, its ok, but dont ask for more than that...

First off, I often tend to personalize with another notion or mentality, so far as how I feel about Chinese people, it always varies person to person, ABC I've met were always nice and polite and hard working. Chinese people I've met via Skype/Lang-8 were hit or miss, sometimes very belligerent and others very curious. wangsishuo 7 months ago
@wangsishuo,
I agree with what you've said, and I believe for China as a nation to progress, the mentality of the Chinese people need to change somewhat, especially when it comes to copyright and quality of products (the later especially). I agree that sometimes we Chinese care too much about 'face', that we forget what's important; and that is a pretty exterior is nothing without a solid and quality interior.
Nyro888 7 months ago
People in China should wake up from this really. Before they were thinking about taking over the world in 20 years with 10% GDP growth. And building everything thats world's NO1 is obviously the way to go.The government and people become ignorant about how far behind we really are from the west. They think as long as build stuff the longest, fastest, tallest, biggest, we can prove the chinese are the best. But the reality is there're still so many people in poverty
wangsishuo 7 months ago
The bullet train are german and japanese technology bought by chinese. But Chinese invented their own railway communication system that controls all the lights on the railway and stuff. And this is where the problem is, when the first train stopped, the light for the second train is still green saying go ahead. imagine driving a 300km/h train in the dark, when you see another train in the front, there's nothing you can do.

「百度」 is from this poem. Japanese translated it into 「何度も何度も」。
It makes sense for a name of a search-engine, "100 degrees" is no business with searching.
oukouxp 7 months ago

My father is a patent lawyer working in China and I can absolutely confirm that yes in Mainland china..they DO NOT respect copyright laws.
supaikudayo 7 months ago
copyrights get really interesting, because tecnically if you tweak something a little bit and then it's no long copyright. For example all spirite and sierra mist are bascially the same just tweaked a bit.

Well I was watching a chinese news station called CCTV this morning and they interviewed some professors who teach at some chinese universities who were saying that the systems used in the trains needed to be reconfigured and looked at closely to prevent something like this from happening again. I guess we'll see if it happens, eh?
RHYCrusaderZ 7 months ago
Here in the US don't broad cast many Chinese news. People is speculate that China will invade and try to take over the US because of the money owed to them, maybe more now than ever since the US congress can't come with a solution on the over a trillion dollars deficit that the country has right now. As right now the US is facing a default on the debts.
This is from the news not my own words.
CAesuoMykcM 7 months ago
@CAesuoMykcM If anyone honestly believes that China would EVER be dumb enough to invade the U.S. they're seriously not giving the Chinese enough credit. First of all, they've never even make it here, they like a real blue water Navy that could hold a candle to the U.S. Navy.
elsamuraiguapo 7 months ago
@elsamuraiguapo Unless they meant it in a sense of metaphorically invading the US. As in finicially invading the US i guess, since the US gov does owe the chinese huge amount of debt. they probably meant literally thought. People always say stupid things when they're scared.
weili77 7 months ago
@elsamuraiguapo
Americans really need to stop believing our military is better than any other.. It isn't.
And China doesn't have a need to invade since most of their business is from us and the majority of the debt is owed to the citizens, not China. The corporate controlled "news" says it's China though. Wanna guess why?
parrish001 7 months ago
@CAesuoMykcM
Well the US owes the most money to it's citizens more than any country.. So that pretty much sums up the credibility behind American "news".

"Nobody cared about the islands and Japan took them over in 1895, and when...after WW2, America took the islands, took everything, took a lot of stuff, Okinawa et cetera in [indiscernable] occupied Japan for a long time, and in 1972 I believe, they gave everything back, but, when they announced this in 1970/1971, suddenly, after all this time of silence...
logicaust 7 months ago
[2/5]
...China suddenly uh, decided that they wanted the islands, so after all this time, they had to speak up, which I think that's really the only chink in the Chinese argument; no pun intended."
Okay, watched it. Was about how the Chinese government now wishes to claim territory from the Japanese (Oh no, it was theirs first! No you! You! Your momma, etc. - that whole powder-keg of an issue aside).
logicaust 7 months ago
[3/5]
He didn't smile or grin afterwards, like "hurr hurr, I'm a funny guy", but perhaps he felt sheepish, which I guess is why he then pre-emptively apologized with "no pun intended", knowing that when the word chink and China are used together, there is a racial connotation.
It's well known that chink has a different meaning in English, I believe it comes from the idiom "a chink in the armour", i.e. a missing link in the chainmail of a warrior which can be pierced by an enemy weapon.
logicaust 7 months ago
[4/5]
In context it basically means that something is flawed in some way. I guess the only parallel I can think of is when black people respond with 'What do you mean, you people?' when people used the phrase 'you people', even when in context it is clear that the speaker is referring to other people (over there) or in the abstract.
logicaust 7 months ago
[5/5]
Possibly this has all been due to language barriers, or perhaps due to oversensitivity to subjects that refer to ethnicity, but all that aside...I don't think this proves that Victor is a racist. Not by a long shot.
Sure, he could haved used the word 'flaw', 'deficiency', 'anomaly' or others, but he did a straight rant and he used the word chink, the context of which he picked up on and apologized for *in ze video*! >.<
Peace.
logicaust 7 months ago
@logicaust - have to comment on YOUR comments despite my informing flakeman that I won't be in here again. I had to grab some sleep last night, did not "flounce" away as you mocked. There is a sense of the schoolyard mentality on here. You talk about ''freedom of speech' and yet when your collective viewpoint on here is challenged, out comes words such as "vacuous", "closeminded prick" "pussy" (from kwad8).and of course "wtf the Chinese" from Mr American/Japenese flakeman himself.
Hansing06 7 months ago
@logicaus- as you can see, I am not too adept at sending my messages on here - so your 'suggestion' that I was "trolling" is hardly fair. I don't quite know what "troll" means other than that it must be another dismissive response to what you disagree with. Free speech works both ways, logicaust. But not on here.going by the mentality of the authentic PRICKS like kwad8. As for the Chink word and its intent - it is not up to you to dismiss it. You are not Chinese - your perspective differs.
Hansing06 7 months ago
@Hansing06 BTW a TROLL is some who posts comments (usually inflammatory) in order to make people angry and get a response. For no reason other reason than get attention.
kwad8 7 months ago
@kwad8 Reading through these comments i see that you are quick to disregard other people's opinions and write them off as "trolls" simply because they have differing views to you? Please take a word of advice from an obviously wiser person... Grow up, be civil... geez...
I happen to agree that this Victor character spends far too much time being self righteous on youtube to loyal puppy fans such as yourself. Reading all this anti China trash talk is pathetic.

You don't like puppies? Blasphemy!
You seem to know me well to make such bold statements. Thanks for watching so many of my videos. Oh, wait, were you talking out of your ass? Sorry, my bad.
Gimmeaflakeman 7 months ago
@vernjackie HAHA! Actually you got me all wrong. I actually enjoy when people have different opinions. Its a learning tool. What I don't is people who have opinions just because, meaning for no logical reason or rationale. You have whatever opinion you want but be prepared to back up your opinion and you say. and I mean that for anyone and everyone. If I think Someone is being closed-minded especially if its because of "nationalistic" ideology I am going to call them on it.
kwad8 6 months ago
@vernjackie To me Hansing08 fits that mold. Maybe you do too. I am not sure yet. You two "appear" to be getting offended simply because certain people have made negative comments about China. Some of which ARE FACTUALLY TRUE. You immediately call the people haters, bigots etc and try to refute what they say. n without any evidence or anything. If someone did say something FACTUALLY wrong then prove they were wrong. If you can't be honest about the subject, I will put you on BLAST for it!!!!
kwad8 6 months ago
@kwad8 -Your posts sat in my mail box for some while. As I have walked away I debated as to whether I should let your taunts go - or come by with a response. In the end I decided that you 'deserve' a reply - first to the messages that you had BLASTED to me via email - and also to your latest 'Hansing' attacks in your exchages with another person on here. You call me a bigot when you are one yourself. A Chinese person comes in here and expresses an opposing viewpoint and you launch your 'attack'
Hansing06 6 months ago
@Hansing06 What is your view point? You never expressed your view point you just denied and denounced everyone else's view point. what is you view point? I really want to know.
kwad8 6 months ago
@kwad8 - you 'demand' 'proof' of another person's perception of these China-related videos? Perspective is subjective. This forum is posted on a public domain. Someone who comes in with a viewpoint from the other side of the fence DOES NOT have to give you chapter and verse of how we perceive this forum. But what the hell - you can have it anyway. The content may be "factually true" - it is the TONE behind it that we find disquieting. Underlying what is said is the GLEE in saying it.
Hansing06 6 months ago
@Hansing06 You are correct. Perspective is subjective. However people cannot understand or learn from that perspective if you don't explain the reason for the perspective or opinion. "We" do you speak for all chinese now? What "TONE" are you referring too?
kwad8 6 months ago
@kwad8 - I don't know if you are being obtuse or if you really did not get the gist of my posts. Clarifying again for you. I refer to the TONE of this video on the train crash in China. The content may be 'factual', but underlying that is the TONE in delivering it. I see on here that another Chinese person has referred to the same thing. And no, the other person is not I "trolling" in another guise. What you don't seem to get is that underlying this train video is the GLEE in saying it.
Hansing06 6 months ago
@kwad8 - you came at me with a personal attack with your very first post. Called me "pussy", accused me of being a "narrow minded prick". I paid you back with the same coinage - personal you wanted, personal you should get. You can dish out but can't take? Blast me will you? - as in 'demolish' and 'detonate'? The Americans are good at that. They marched into Vietnam to BLAST it. Did not win that war. Then it was the Middle East. Bet they wish they could 'take' China too.
Hansing06 6 months ago
@Hansing06 Yes i did. I wanted to get your attention. Maybe I'm wrong but you just appears to be like someone who cannot take criticism about China. Regardless of where they come from people who are closed minded i find really annoying. You misunderstood my usage of "blast." I meant blast as in a really loud noise. as in blast the speakers. America may not have won the vietnam war but Vietnam isn't "Communist" anymore.
kwad8 6 months ago
@kwad8 - believe me kwad8, I find you equally annoying. So we are in agreement there at least. I don't give a damn with regard to criticisms of China's government. Things could be a lot better for the people. But I also quesiton the west's 'reasons' for this watching brief over China's politics - because you know what? - for some in the west, there seems to be no demarcation lines between bashing China and bashing China's people. Some posts on here certainly illustrated that sentiment.
Hansing06 6 months ago
Some posts on here even stated that "the Chinese" must not be allowed to accumulate "power", that China must be 'stopped'. Flakeman 'decided'' in his video that China's emergence won't last. So all right, you may say that it was a reference to the government - but why even be like that? Why resent China's rising power? In any case, who are these people in the west to believe that they can "stop"' the Chinese? As for your wanting to "BLAST" me - I did not misunderstand that it was figurative.
Hansing06 6 months ago
@kwad8 - A" loud noise BLAST" carries a statement of swagger and aggressive intent just the same. The idea on here seems to be that a Chinese person's opposing viewpoint must automatically carry no legitimacym that I MUST be a "troll" or I must be a Chinese politician. So tell me Kwad8, who is "closeminded"? I do no like some of China's policies - but this does not mean that I welcome a wholesale Chinese bashing by some in the west.
Hansing06 6 months ago
@kwad8 - I 'called' Flakeman on this train video because we perceived that there was a sense of GLEE in his 'China'-Chinese' reports'. In another video he phrased his 'report' with - "The Chink in the Chinese argument ...." as though he did not mean anything by it. And maybe he did not. But then, why would he risk being misconstrued? Freudian slip? Makes it all right then! You can mix and match what is "factual" with a dose of the snide and BLAST those who dare to call you on it?
Hansing06 6 months ago
@Hansing06 Why do you keep saying "we" do you speak for all chinese? Are you a chinese government worker? Do you work for "The Party" The word chink has other meanings than the racist one. These meanings actually were in use before it was used as a racial slur.
kwad8 6 months ago
@kwad8 -yes, the chink word exists in the English vocabulary. I majored in English and English Literature, I taught in college before switching to writing. The chink word in itself may be innocuous. When used as it was in one of Flakeman's videos, within the context of - quote - "The chink in the Chinese argument....." it took on a different nuance. My CHINESE perspective. Please have the grace to acknowledge that how it came over to me may not be how you may prefer to view it as an American.
Hansing06 6 months ago
@kwad8- I came by and you and your fellow member on here taunted me as a "troll". You came into my mailbox with your 'definition' of what the word means, heapling more of your personal attack on me. In your world, anyoine who challenges you on here is a "troll". And you don't see yourself as a bigot. Why not? - because you are bumming around Asia 'teaching' Oriental people to say 'good morning' in English? The Japanese are your best friends so therefore you can't be racist? .
Hansing06 6 months ago
@Hansing06 No challenge me all you want. I am not always right. i am willing to admit when i am wrong. How can you get offended by the word "troll" when you didn't know the meaning at first. You are one of two things. 1. You like victor and have been watching vids for a long time and then got "offended" with this vid or 2 you know nothing about victor and just browse youtube for anti-chinese videos and then comment to defend china regardless of the truth. #2=troll. i.e. trolling for trouble.
kwad8 6 months ago
@kwad8 - ha ha - you jest. This train video was the only one that I took time to watch. Not because I am a 'fan' - no Chinese person can be comfortable in this 'room'. Put it this way - you wouldn't feel welcome in a room where the underlying sentiment is American bashing. A Chinese friend said to me that I should come in here at least one time so I would get a sense of what she means. She told me about the other video - the chink/Chinese' one. I don't trawl 'anti-Chinese' videos online, kwad8.
Hansing06 6 months ago 2
@kwad8 - I don't like you and those like you. Don't like your double standards. The Chinese have never done anything to you, not as a natioin and not as a people. Never went to war with the west. The British plundered and stole so many of our objets d art, took over Hong Kong for almost a hundred years, inducted generations of the Chinese to BRITISH opium. Demonise us with labels. And here you are, a different era - same animosity.
Hansing06 6 months ago
@Hansing06 You make a lot of assumptions and your facts are wrong. First i could be chinese-american. you don't know. Second you are WRONG. China has went to war with the West. Millions of Chinese soldiers fought in the Korean war on the side of Communist North Korea. Chinese soldiers killed and injured tens of thousands of US and UN soldiers. I don't dislike Chinese people but i do dislike the chinese government. China is not innocent victim. I could ask you about the China-Tibet issue
kwad8 6 months ago
@kwad8 - IF you are a Chinese-American, I would say 'shame on you' for going with the flow. You should be standing up for your roots. The Korean war, the war in Vietnam, the present invasion in the Middle East - haven't you got it yet? - Why do the Americans ASSUME that they are the world's Police? Why this paranoia about communism in the first place! America likes to meddle and is a terrbile warmonger. This is my viewpoint - you won't BLAST me for it, will you!
Hansing06 6 months ago 2
@kwad8 - I don't think that I am quivering in my shoes anticipating your threats, your swagger and your macho BLASTS. The Americans are not as unassailable as they think they are. You are just a blip on a fast changing landscape.
It is not about the content on this forum - it is TONE of it. Undelying what is said - and the posts that support the content, is the GLEE in saying it. Ask yourselves WHY my CHINESE perspective does not recognise altruism on here, only the GLEE. No honesty on here.
Hansing06 6 months ago
@Hansing06 you are right again. american is not unassailable and is a blip on the changing landscape. I know this that is not a big deal. Yes many americans are clueless. Ill put them on blast them too if needed.
What "Glee" are you talking about? i don't understand?
kwad8 6 months ago

Bye.

Hi @gimmeiaflakeman
May break this up into a few comments.
1)
News that I've seen (Canada and international Internet) suggests the lightning strike activated a system safety shutdown circuit. (similar to the shinkansen quake auto-shutdown, makes sense electric trains, lighting could mess with the grid) If true, this leaves a question of whether the moving train failed to shutdown or if the operator over-rode safeties.

logicaust - past my bed time where I am.
Hansing06 7 months ago
@Hansing06
Dat context.
