The crank seizure problem was identified and remedied in 2004 by Cannondale owners. ATK UTAH never adopted the simple fix though and continued to experience the same problem till they sold off all the cannondale parts to ATK/Highland.

ATK was only in it to assemble and rebadge Cannondales for sale and sell the rest of the parts just to make cash . They never had any intention of continued developing and producing the Cannondale legacy machines which they always insisted they were doing.

The suspension is one of the best to come stock on a bike and you can remap the computer settings, One draw back was the engines had a major malfunction (Cannondale's) and when ATK took over they rebuilt Cannondale engines and I believe the problem is still there. The engines sieze frequently, I've seen two 440's and one of the quads sieze within 12 hours of break in. I don't know if it's been taken care of but these are really incredible machines when running good.

Man I remember when Cannondale put this bike out way back around 2000 --- Husaberg was about it's only other 4 stroke competitor

Just think it took 10 years to finally see fuel injection to make it to the jap bikes, it took yamaha and honda a few years before they made the power to weight ration match this bike, oh, and I think Jimmy Lewis still catches hell over the fact that the Cannondale made bike of the year!!! ha ha, I'm just glad ATK kept it alive - We should embrace Made in USA

I would like to see where you can find an Ohlin shod Honda just over 3 years old for under $2000US,and a company in England with a container load of spares getting sold at used prices?The original ATKs,the Rotax one are still a better buy than most used Japs due to the abundance of cheap parts and high quality hardware on them.If you're not racing it's stupid to look at anything else!

Im not saying this just to piss you off but I seen a 12 year old kid on a kx80 ride better and harder than that. The bike is idling most times no power valve or power band kicking in, it sounds like its in fourth gear for the whole time going up hills, man that was a sad advertisement for your bike!!! Bring it to the uk ill show you how a bike should be rode..

Awesome review! Awesome bike! I was on my day to drive down to the Cannondale dealer to put a deposit on a E440 when my buddy called me to tell me that they were going out of business.
