The flag of the city of Buenos Aires consists of a crowned black eagle holding the red cross of Calatrava with its right talon and its four chicks at the bottom.
The bussing ceremony recalls the days when a knight's lady attached her ribbon to his lance before battle. Most of the Scottish settlers who arrived with the "Symmetry" in 1825, came from the lowlands. The brothers John and William Parish Robertson who brought them were from the border town of Kelso. The sett of the tartan of Argentina is inspired in the Robertson tartan to honour them and combines the colours of the flags of Argentina and Scotland, uniting both cultures.
Casting of the Colours of the city of Buenos Aires by the Standard Bearer, Eddie Arizmendi at the opening ceremonies of the 2008 Buenos Aires Tartan Day Parade that took place on April 6. Before the casting of the flag, Teresita Oliden, "Queen of the Parade" tied a ribbon with the colours of the Argentina District Tartan to the staff in a ceremony called the "Bussing of the Colours."
These ceremonies take place during the "Common Ridings" that take place in the Borders of Scotland.
