'Aishah (ra) reported: "Umm Habibah and Umm Salamah mentioned to Allah's Messenger, peace be upon him, a church in which they saw drawings while in Abyssinia, whereupon he said: 'Those people used to build a place of worship over the grave of a righteous man among them when he died and make such drawings in it.These will be the worst of people in the sight of Allah on the Day of Resurrection.'' All the Sufi orders or 'chains' come from some of the Companions, the Naqshbandi is from Hazrat Abu Bakr RA and many including the CHishti are from Hazrat Ali RA.
So in this silsila, Hazrat ALi is the first for example. After 1400 years, most silsilas have 40 links or generations to the Holy Prophet PBUH.
As such this is nothing to get worked up about. jazak ALlah.
