BBC3 played this item one morning on their breakfast show - I had never heard of Rolando Villazon but was instantly captivated. I have this CD - all the singers are wonderful. It has become one of my favourite CDs. Villazon is able to adapt to this music - I think he is a v intelligent artist. His voice has a beautfiful "timbre".

Lovely... though he will never dethrone Jaroussky's version... but he gives passion and "flesh" to this gorgeous aria/song. I enjoy this fleshy, human baroque a lot...

Funny, generally I think so, too. I don't like Villazon's Handel stuff at all, neither the other Monteverdi sung by him here on yt. But this is good.

I know he is loved in Barcelona. I thought I recognised in your video, part of Liceu's Chandelier and I imagined you listened to his recital like I did,I very much liked his Dichterliebe and the french melodies. (Massenet 'ouvre tes yeux bleus'fantastic). No, he did not sing this Monteverdi's melody

Thank you for your comment. He didn't sing this song at the Liceu recital, although we love him very much there.
