"Don't do this under penalty of eternal hell" etc. In a perfect world we would be able to function beautifully under a diluted form of anarchy but let's face it, the majority of human beings need fear of consequences and guidelines in order to behave. On paper, people are born into a religion by their parents, however i've been to france and spain many times and I have asked about this personally alot and the impression is that everyone under 50 are a enormous tendency to not be religious at all, and in sweden where I'm at, the majority have no belief or say they are atheists. Still however a majority of swedes are a member of the church. Why? They are born into it.

One of sciences leading theories as to how the universe works is that the fundamental particles are in fact strings, but in order for this to be true several extra, unobservable, dimensions to the universe must exist. If any preacher said that then no one would believe him but a scientist says it and it must be true right? To me it sounds just as insane as the idea of god. people are often blinded by faith but some are blinded by science

@danpayne118 as for string theory... actually, if a preacher announced it, people would believe him. and there wouldn't need to be any scientific journals published with peer review: millions of people would take it on word. ironically, it's the scientists who seem to be mistrusted. string theory has been reviewed over and over by scientists and has been tested numerous times. that is how something ought to be demonstrated true, not by questiionably translated, unverifiable, ancient books.

They don't get up to the idea of logically sound equations, inventions, philosophys, government body, or any other items. But of course, some of the crazy things would have been done by something that today's science could solve. Take the Salem Witch Trials, people went crazy because of a contamination in the water, it even led to a fungus growing on the wheat that were made into bread.
