I'm all for financial reform, but this bill was NOT strong enough, as my senator Maria Cantwell from Washington said with her NAY vote against the bill. She was one of the only Democrats, if not the ONLY Democrat, to vote against this bill. It's progress, certainly, but it's not enough. Finally President Barack Obama signed the Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act. Its about time. This is excellent. Wall Street need to be controlled because Wall Street is out of control and abusive and have become corrupted.

@LuvChaos Out of curiosity I went to one of those tea party meetings, and I was not feeling welcome at all to be there. As I looked around, I noticed that I was the only non-white person there!! Nobody would speak to me, and everyone looked at me in distain! And what they were saying sounded very radical and bigoted to me! It is my firm belief that anybody who is a republican, or is in any way supportive of the teaparty movement is a racist!! They may deny it, but their actions speak loudly!!!

If Obama had been president a couple years sooner, the financial meltdown would have never happened!! Under a Democrat rule, they would have seen the need for financial reform then and done something about it!!!! I'm all for financial reform, but this bill was NOT strong enough, as my senator Maria Cantwell from Washington said with her NAY vote against the bill. She was one of the only Democrats, if not the ONLY Democrat, to vote against this bill. It's progress, certainly, but it's not enough. I'm sick and tired of the oppression from the avaricious capitalist pigs on Wall Street and elsewhere.
Thank you, Obama, for seeing us through this far. Keep up the good work.

It's very simple; if people are not decent and take advantage of other than we need rules, I.e. If bankers are not decent we need to regulate them, period. In an ideal world you wouldn't need rules/regulations b/c would trust each other, but we don't live in the ideal world yet.

They include October 29, 1929 (Black Tuesday), December 7, 1941 (Pearl Harbor), September 11, 2001- and now with the signing of the financial reform bill, you can add July 21, 2010 to this list. This will be the day that will be remembered as the day that the final nail in the Republic was pounded into the coffin.

You stated that when the Credit Card Act was passed that NEVER AGAIN would consumers be at the mercy of Big Banks with higher interest rates, etc.Wrong.The interest rates on my c cards doubled(I had not been late on a payment in over 10 yrs)after the law went into effect; I no longer have free checking and my bank is now going to put a fee on every transaction I make. You say there will never be another financial meltdown, Dodd says he doesn't know if this reform is going to work. Which is it?
