Great interview as always!! Privacy is huge yes and individuals need to be educated on it more and how to control it. We cannot blame Facebook for our online personalities. We make our own choices, FB doesnt do it for us! There will be an epidemic in the future and company's set up to delete people's online presence bc of their potential careers and in turn will stand to profit from it.Twitter got in trouble for violating privacy and copying users contacts into database(Igor Stojcic, MRK460MS)
I feel that through Facebook, your past will haunt you. My personal experience: I found out about my first post on Facebook through Timeline, and I was very much embarrassed by it and now I'm aware of my post as an individual and from the business aspect. My usage habits changed in parallel to changes implemented by Facebook. The timeline interface is something people just have to get used to, and they must know how to handle their own privacy as well.
I think the issue with fb is that, they are always innovating which is a gift and a curse. I haven't changed to the new time-line interface because it looks like a world map(too much going on). Also, I didn't know privacy policy for the web in Canada differs from that of the US.
I personally adopted the Facebook Timeline very soon after if it was available. This was so that I could become comfortable with the design and remove any old posts or pictures that I did not want visible. I think that people who are opposed to the new Facebook Timeline should take the time to become accustom to its layout and new privacy settings.
Facebook privacy setting needs to be discussed in more depth. I Google my name and I found my profile pictures within the first few pages. Although soon after that I changed my privacy settings.
