I've been DJing over 30 years! When I first learned, I used to try to sound like the Grand Master Flash! The first record I learned to spin was "Good Times." I STILL feel fortunate to actually see this living legend in Crotona Park 2009. Never knew we were the same height. Much respect Grand Master!!!!!!!!!
Thanks Flash for keeping hip hop alive. Ive been listening to you since 1985 and you were /are a big inspiration to me getting involved with spinning records and breakbeats.
BIG UP....LEGENDARY GRAND MASTER FLASH............ Music go Green...Save the Vinyl Records and cd's Digital Age.. Bridge to Bermuda July 1st & 2nd 2011....palmrock blog
It would be real nice if you could incorporate some pictures or even some video of those days/parties, to give the viewers some real visuals of what things were like. I'm sure if you knew what you know now, you would have 1000's of pictures. I know I would have been walking with a camera capturing my youth on film if I could do it again! Some beautiful days!!
@24Adrian24 Yes your words are so correct.. i wish i had that camera from back in the day.. so many parts of my youth i could have captured..those days we will never witness ever again.. the music just that time period as one unit was just MAGICAL!
Damn Flash you got me wit that sing sing cut, now I wanna hear you cut somethin Gotta say you are def my fav DJ shouts to Bam Herc Hollywood Theodore dont wanna exclude them brothers but you to me was the best you kept up wit the younger dudes anything new you did it like transforming and all that. You were the master of mixing the old wit the new I saw you in the Roxy cuttin wit pencil erasers waay before JS 1did tricks. I always thought Jazzy Jeff was the cat you passed the torch to.
Yo Flash u need to get the rest of the pioneers and y'all should hit up all the old spots.Make sure you stop at Haffen Park in the valley.Oh yeah,Lord Finesse & Percee P are also from your area.
hey flash bout time you did a video about the young days of hiphop, maybe some of the other old timers would get the idea and chime in to do their part of history all you guys are the true pioneer's of this genre, thanks for the video it brings me back to my young days,
GM Flash, remember the mercedes ladies? What ever happened to them? They should be in the rock n roll hall of fame with u as the first all female hip hop group because they were long before salt n pepa and the rest of the females except for sha rock of the funky 4 and pebblie poo of master don and the death committee. Peace
whats the song called in the beginning and end?? thx for another great vid flash! btw which year are you talking about in this vid? when u and furious five practiced in that building?
