i made a similar one a few years back, do not use needles, i recomend sanded down guitar strings as they pierce the skin more effectively. however, i agree with the negitive comments as well, its alright, but if you do them do them on yourself in a discreet area and go to a professional for anything fancy that you wont regret. currently, i'm in the process of getting a few of the early ones done over.

Awesome instructional for people trying to learn how to build things. Though like he said, its really not worth it to try and tattoo with it. It will work but is definitely not recommended. If you are serious about tattooing, a real gun can come as cheap at $16.

I made one of these once except I used a motor from an old cd player. That thing was a pain in the ass to set up. Unlike some ppl who use these type of "machines" I always sterilized and used new needle bars and pens. Not only that but it too forever to tattoo with it youre better off just buying a set I got one for like 250 for everything I needed to get started.
