Jerry Lee said himself that he wouldve set one on fire if he couldve gotten away with it..but he didnt. And this story is true, but it wasnt chuck berry. it was fats domino at Paramount theater in new york
Been a Jerry Lee fan since 1957, after many cancellations by Jerry I managed to see him live at Blackpool Winter Gardens in about 2006 and I forgave him everything, the man is just a genius, I am a very quiet, , reserved individual but I , after all those years really let it rip, thanks Jerry for many years of pure, unadultrated rock and roll pleasure, and, I bet you have outlived most of your 'He'll die tomorrow' biographers, a rock and roll genius.
I was too young to be familiar with Jerry Lee Lewis' music when it was the "thing;" however, I have seen old videos/television snippets of him and his music. I must say that Dennis Quiad out Jerry'd - Jerry Lee Lewis! This was a great clip/video from the movie. Thank you or this post.
Excuse my language, I'm not racist, but when Jerry Lee was leaving the stage he actually called out "follow that nigger", the writer probably wanted to set Jerry off as a good guy so they didn't use that word. The more you know........
@6Dantes6Inferno6 It's not a stupid rumor, Jerry did say "Follow that, nigger" to Chuck Berry, ask Chuck. And Jerry did also set his piano on fire, though it wasn't in the show that was seen in the movie.
he is quoted in an online article in Esquire Magazine as saying "I never set fire to a piano. I'd like to have got away with it, though. I pushed a couple of them in the river. They wasn't any good."
...?
Anyway... even if he did say that, does it really matter? a musician being an asshole doesn't negate his or her talent, and the whole marrying his 13 year old cousin thing is a lot worse lol
@6Dantes6Inferno6 No, it doesn't matter, I'm a huge fan of Jerry, and nothing that has to do with his personal life affects his skills at the piano, so the marrying his 13 year old cousin doesn't bother me at all
i went to see Jerry Lee in manchester a few years back, and he still kicks the stool away and plays with his heel.......love this movie, love the killer.....thx for the upload
Dennis Quid is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO SEXY at 1:14 !!!!! OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHH he feels so gooood playing that hell piano like a GOD!!!!!!!!!!!! I love his hair.......
this was a true event, except Jerry Lee Lewis said "Follow that, Nigger!" instead of Killer. they took it out to make Jerry seem like a good guy. He isn't the best role model in the world, but he sure as hell is the KING OF ROCK N ROLL !!!
@nellgwen48 Ordinarily he could and at the same time match his opponent's skill, but not here as Jerry's dynamic performance proved to much for him to surpass. The crowd did go as wild for him as Jerry. Chuck did, however, do the best he could. That's all any man can do.

@lEtUtEl you are a fool, you honestly are going to base your opinion that"southern people have so many kids" off of this movie haha i always knew "YANKEES" were the real idiots
I absolutely Loved this Movie!!! Dennis Quaid sure had Jerry down pat...at least I thought he did an awesome job...If you loved Jerry lee like i do,you'll love this movie
nope, these songs were specially recorded for the movie by jerry lee lewis, but dennis had to take piano lessons so that he would look like he was the one playing the piano, not jerry.
Dennis was tagged to sing but Jerry Lee said no way and re-cut all the songs for the film, not that Dennis can't sing. You can here him on parts of Crazy Arms in the fim...
@olhrocks No, Jerry Lee re-sung all his songs for the film so Dennis could lip-sinc it. There's a video where Jerry Lee is singing this and Dennis is next to him imitating him. But Dennis Quaid can actually sing really well. And he's an experienced guitarist. His style is more country though.
@olhrocks he does on the soundtrack albumn! it's "crazy arms" duet with jerry lee. although if you just wanna hear the killer buy "the killer's private stash" albumn! is really good got his pre sun recordings on it "i don't hurt anymore and "if i ever needed you"
This is a biography of his love life with Myra. Of course they use actors, do you think the real Jerry Lee Lewis had time to star in this when it was made (1989)? I think that Dennis Quaid does a good job of re-enacting Jerry, even though it is almost impossible to copy cat his killer-rock 'n roll-rebel style. If you want to see the real Jerry, there are plenty of videos of him. Sorry to disappoint you.
my opinion but these are the kings of rock n roll Jerry Lee, Chuck Berry and Buddy Holly not Elvis at all he seemd more like blues to me
