  • it pops up for half a second and then goes

  • it said java could not create the virtual machine

  • when i do this, at first the batch file crashed upon opening, then i tried the fix in the description and now the file "could not create the Java Virtual machine"

    please help

  • LIES! It doesn't work, i tried many variations also but nope, chuck testa

  • i literally got a 50 fps increase!

  • This is totally awesome. I got at least 10fps increase. This was running windows 7 with only 4 gig ram and triple core processor. I had adjusted this in the java in control panel. But this seams to work better. I also can run the jar file doing it this way. I could actually record now instead of having too much lag. I am going to try and get some more ram soon and going to be testing more with my server and see how much more i can get. Thanks alot doc this surely helps. Ciao

  • same it pops up for a sec then gos again

  • @Themonkeyboy122 go lower thats what i did

  • I run on a 32 bit and it dosnt work :(

  • run as ADMINISTRATOR god dammit!! definitely works

  • are you german?? :D

  • @mavinn3000 yes he is becuase he lives in germany and hes actcent :3

  • It said unable to access jarfile. What do I do

  • when i tried opening the batch it opened command prompt for 1 second then closed

  • @TheBobjones999999 i'm having the same problem, did he tell you a fix?

  • @SmiteThyFace right click -> run as admin

  • @TheBobjones999999 right click -> run as admin

  • @TheBobjones999999 on a new line type PAUSE and thats it no dashes just PAUSE and it stops the command prompt from closing untill you press a button

  • I got Unable to Access Jar File, Can anybody help?

  • Serious Question, I followed all the instructions, the only part that confused me was the last instruction

-Navigate to the end of the field's content, add a semicolon (this is a path separator) and add your java bin folder path with apostrophes (eg: "C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_10\bin") I think what I accidentally did was delete the field and instead pasted the "C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_10\bin." How do I proceed from here because it still says the thing about the virtual machine.

  • Its said (Unable to access jarfile C:/Users/stevefv/Desktop)

I need the ram for my minecraft so can some one help me?

  • Why do you have a german PC? o.O

  • @Klonkh cuz he's german...

  • can somebody help me?

it sais : could not create the java virtual machine..

  • @MrNippelTippel i should read the descripton and ask again xd

  • Hey doc, you said youre using wordpad.... Its actually notepad :DDDDD

  • cmd says "javaw is not recognised as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

I'm running Windows 7 and did everything in the video.

  • Hey Docm IT REALLY WORKS!!!! I have 20-30fps now i have 80-100fps now YAY!!! thank you Doc!

  • and does it help me play on far render distance?

  • what if i wanna change it back?

  • Mine also just popped out and closed in a split sec.

  • Seems to have let me run in fancy without any major issues, I could not do that before.

  • mine doesn't say anything, it just pops up for a split second and dissappears. i can't open the batch file. can someone help me please?

  • Hey Doc. I tried this, assigning 2GB of 4GB (and checked by pressing F3 that it had assigned 2GB) yet found that this reduced my average frame rate, keeping it at about 25 (tops) whereas without, I reached 84 (in the same region, I was on top of some mountains). As you mentioned, this may work but may NOT. It is a good idea though. :)

  • For some reason it says cannot acces to jarfile and i did everything right.

  • Hi I used to have 100-175 fps on minecraft but sometimes I did get the Minecraft ran out of memory thing. When i did this it worked but the fps dropped to 24-50. What happened i have nVidia 555m on Y570 8gb RAM

  • No real fps change for me, i had 50 to 80 fps now still the same. Only difference is that my laptop is making more noise so i won't use it anymore. It was just a quick test :)

  • it says that it is unable to access the jar file

  • @stijnjongbloed1

Mine said it couldn't find the "main class" .... and then crashed.... rage ....

  • @stijnjongbloed1 Make sure the directory is to the Minecraft LAUNCHER, not the Jar file in the AppData folder.

  • @stijnjongbloed1 When you copy from the icon's properties folder you have to add "\Minecraft.exe" to the end to tell the batch file what to open. So in essence it would be,"C:\Users\stijnongbloed1\desktop\minecraft.exe"

  • Ahh YOU DONT USE CHROME ;(

  • @docm77 I Used your tutorial buy when I run the CMD it doesnt do anything, I even put pause at the second line to see if theres an error but theres no error, it just doesnt do anything, help me doc?

  • I LOVE YOU!! THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THIS TUTORIAL :) :) :) :)

  • 1. Create a Shortcut to Minecraft.exe

    2. Right Click Shoftcut and change the Target field to

C:\Windows\System32\java.exe -Xmx2048M -Xms2048M -jar "C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\Minecraft.exe" If the path to your Minecraft.exe is different change it above to match it.

    3. Click Change Icon, type the path to your Minecraft.exe or copy it from above.

    4. Change the run drop down menu from "Normal Window" to "Minimized"

    5. Press Okay

You can add username password for autologin at end

  • doc my batch file just opens for a split second and then closes. i followed all your instructions

  • @razzaman300 same with me..

  • @razzaman300 ME TOO!!!!!!!!!!! :(

  • HELP!

I get a message saying "Invalid or corrupt jarfile"

I tried using both the .exe and the .jar files and STILL got the exact same message.

Also, I have both 32 and 64 bit java, I installed them to separate directories.

Minecraft runs pretty smoothly on its own, I'm just hoping to allocate more memory because of some mod that increases the maxheight of the map...so would this help?

  • @814ckd347h the same thing happened to me try using a lower memory first i dont really know but try

  • Could not create the java virtual machine error when opening the .bat file please help :)

  • @MinecraftResearch Read the description

  • @MinecraftResearch make sure you're using the jar version, not the exe

  • thanks doc, when i loaded minecraft i pressed f3 and i was getting 65 fps thanks ssooooo much and to insaneHacker999

  • In order to pin the .bat file to the taskbar: in the start menu search for cmd, right click, click on "pin to taskbar" then rightclick the cmd icon on the tasbar and rightclick on "Command prompt", choose properties

under target add: /C thepathtoyour.batfile for eks:

    %windir%\system32\cmd.exe /C E:\Nedlastninger\GAMES\Minecraft\mcmoreran.bat

  • @docm77 my laptop is a 64bit system and i have 32 bit java if i get 64 bit java will mineraft get more fps?

  • Cool, I got it to work. Now I can make bigger space cannons.

  • kind daddy dmac liked this so i am here so uh yeah

  • how do i find my java bin folder path?

  • Maybe this will help; (posted by Unledit)

    "C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\javaw.exe" -Xmx4096M -Xms4096M -jar

  • Instead of making a batch file for starting Minecraft like you do, you can create a file named Minecraft.l4j.ini

In this file, just add the flags you want. For example -Xmx8192m -Xms4096m and start Minecraft with Minecraft.exe as you normally do. The important things to remember are that the filename must be the same as for the exe file, but with the file ending .l4j.ini instead of .exe and it must be in the same folder as the executable file. Happy minecrafting

  • If Doc's code doesnt work, try this:

    @ECHO OFF

    "C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\javaw.exe" -Xmx4096M -Xms4096M -jar "C:\Users\CHANGE\Desktop\minecraft.exe"

CHANGE THE JAVA LOCATION, ACCOUNT NAME AND RAM AMOUNTS TO WHAT YOU WANT!

  • Doc, can you help me? When i open my .bat file i don't get an error but it doesn't start minecraft, it just disappears. :(

  • If you run minecraft with the normal launcher after the .bat run, does it run with normal ram?

  • wait so can i use like say 4gb then in the 2nd thing i put 2gb? like i did this ,

    First one : 4000 Seccond one : 2000

is that okay? or does it have to be like 2046 or something?

  • java bin folder path?

  • Help me someone,i did like docm write(i add path in system variable),but when i clicking on .bat file nothing happend,no error just open bat file and close.

  • what happens you do more gb than your computer has. Like mine is 4gb, so what if I put 8gb.

  • @badman11811 you will get and Error message Like "Unable to create Java virtual machine" make your memory settings smaller till it works

  • @badman11811

    It wouldnt start up.

However, that is your computer stopping that from happening.

For example, If your computer didnt stop it, it would most likely crash and be VERY bad for your computer.

  • wait, would a 32-bit cpu and java 32-bit work also?

  • @GamerGlen102 Too much memory allocated, or, check the location of you java launcher and minecraft.exe

  • Comment removed

  • are you from german?

  • @Reberi1903 yeah he is

  • @docm77 when i click the .bat file thing it says unable to access jarfile

  • Hey Doc, whats a smart thing to do with your memory? in how much you assign to it. Like: i have 4GB memory. should i add 4 Gig to Minecraft or just 3 Gigs?

  • @draakjepet Not enough...2 should be fine in any case.

  • You're german? Or why is your Windows on german?

  • @6hawkster9 1028or something like that

  • how much memory does minecraft usually run on without modifying more RAM?

  • @docm77 what does a minecraft world look like when this happens?

  • @salsasasquatch You can check with f3. Chunks should load faster.

  • Comment removed

  • How do you upgrade to java 64 bit?

  • @naesdrareb Visit the java website and download the package.

  • @naesdrareb Make sure you have a 64Bit Operating system. if you have a x84bit you should stick with java x84 (36)

  • @draakjepet I checked and I do in fact have a 64 bit operating system, the real problem comes in the form of a lack of tutorials to do the deed on youtube lol.

  • @naesdrareb visit the java website. but if you use a 32bit browser it will download 32bit java if you click the big, shiny red download button. Somewhere should be download for another pc or something, there you can choose the 64bit version.

  • @naesdrareb you can get a download just type up jave 64 bit installation its free

  • sweet, ive tried this before using other tutorials and never got it working, your was easy to follow and now i have more memory!

  • @ISupaSoakaI Awesome, glad it worked. It is really weird, seems like ever pc setup needs a different way to do it. Seems you got lucky this time.

  • @docm77 Any idea how to do this on Mac?

  • wait there's a desktop launcher? I just dragged the download link onto my desktop

  • @goodrita Lol;-)

  • oh shit... I accidently deleted the path variable... is that bad?

  • @PactCinema That could be a problem....

  • Hey Doc I did what you said in the video but it still shows the old used memory and allocated memory amounts when pressing f3 what should i do?

I run on a windows 32bit system, checked java and it says it is the correct version so i have no clue why it didn't work!

  • @POWERSLAVESS Mhm, that sounds strange..anybody here?

  • @POWERSLAVESS That means you have 32 bit java as well.

  • Hello Doc,

I try to run minecraft whit the bat file but then i get an error that is saying: Unable to acces Jar file. this is what i used: javaw -Xmx4096m -Xms2048m -jar "C:\Users\Gebruiker\Desktop\Minecraft"

  • @thijslol1 ...Minecraft.exe......

  • @docm77 ok... when i try that i get Could not create virtual java machine :(

  • @thijslol1 i do have the same problem :C

  • @thijslol1 Same here

  • @thijslol1 I believe that you have to put "C:\Users\Gebruiker\Desktop\Minecraft.exe"

  • Whenever I try to open the .bat file I see it for less than a second and it disappears! Pls help!

  • @Hehweirdo22 Download Java SE Development Kit

  • @Hehweirdo22 I had that, too. I realised I forgot to put the 'M' after the numbers. After putting those it in works for me. Hope this helps.

  • @Hehweirdo22 add another line to the .bat file with just the word "pause" No quotes. The window will wait for you so you can see the error message. (probably a path issue for java)

  • @Hehweirdo22 me 2

  • @Hehweirdo22 be sure to have correct address.

  • @Hehweirdo22 make sure you're using the jar version, not the exe

  • im using vista is there a "advanced section" in vista

  • Does a 32 bit OS make a difference? Because my friend used to have a 64bit and he had/still has more ram than me. But minecraft runs out of memory a lot. And the .bat doesn't work unless you strictly dedicate only like 1gb/6gb when you used to be able to do 4gb(which would solve the crashing). And I don't understand, because he went to win7, and thats why he has 32bit. Plus he deleted everything on his hdd, so I wouldn't see why his system doesn't want to dedicate a lot of ram.

  • so if i want 1.5 GB is it:

    javaw -Xmx1024 -Xms512m -jar "C:\Users\*\Desktop"

    ?

  • @HraMazi Check the video description....

  • According to the optifine guy, allocating more memory will reduce performance because minecraft will have to page to the hard drive more often. He says minecraft ideally only needs 256mb of memory to perform optimally.

  • Or you could use a hex editor or the minecraft.exe and change the ram

  • Allocating more RAM helps ... but only on a basic level , since minecraft is a Java application the CPU is the defining factor here . Since most of minecraft is rendered on the Central prossesing Unit and not on the videocard ! But Srsly Doc ! GREAT VIDEO !

  • You know I have recently discovered you, well not recently just actually subscribed. Its going to be sad when you will have millions of comments and it will be hard to a response. Well, I shall enjoy it while it lasts. :) Keep up the great work man!

  • @shaynebilodeau I try to;-)

  • Thanks! This is going to help a lot!

I'll come back to you if the FPS works with me - I use a very laggy computer for MC (32 bit)

  • U should run a 64x bit Java and then download the Linux version of minecraft. This is not for linux only its just so u can mod it. Then all you have to do is change the target to whatever you want... you can change many things such as resolution etc...... hope this helped. -Kings

  • @DutchCraftHD you can indeed close it.

  • For all of the people getting the 'Could not create Java Virtual Machine' error, try reducing the numbers. I was trying 2 gig and it wasn't working, I reduced it to 1024m and it started working. Also, don't be afraid to wander off from the usual 1/2/.5 gig. I am using Xmx1600 and Xms800, as this was the maximum I could with it working.

    Hope I helped!

  • i love how your computer is all in deutsch yet you still read it as english <3

  • i wish it would of helped a little more then it did bc i play on a lap top if u any more ideas on how to get the game to run faster plz make some vids on it

  • @NRG4SP33D You should NEVER use more then half of your computer's physical RAM as it can cause problems with your operating system's stability. For example, if you have 4 GB RAM, the max you should set it to in the batch file is 2 GB.

  • uuummmm........ what?

  • Wow. Opera.

  • tyvm for the crazy fast tutorial doc u the man :)

  • for the assigning of ram, do i have to have that amount of ram in the first place? or does it work off of the actual hard drive?

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH NO MORE FPS OR LAG ISSUES

    VIELEN DANK

    VIELEN DANK

    VIELEN DANK

  • honestly i dont see any need at all for this, i have never gotten any run out of memory errors because minecraft should never need more than what java gives it. the rare exceptions are servers and if you run a bunch of mods.

if you run minecraft and get errors and have at least 2 gigabytes of ram, i suggest you reformat with a standard microsoft verified windows 7 image.

  • instead of

    javaw -Xmx8192m -Xms4096m -jar "I:\Users\Docm77\Desktop\Minecraft.exe"

    you could use

    cd

    javaw -Xmx8192m -Xms4096m -jar "Minecraft.exe"

  • WORLD DOWNLOAD NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Or waste a lot of money and get a new computer.

  • I think you, docm should make a special name for your fan base, something creative to describe that we are a powerful community and are supportive of you. I think it would be cool to have a special name

  • #SWAG

  • CCleaner someones got dirty browser history ;-P hahaha

  • i typed pause on the next line down to see what was wrong and it says "javaw" is not known as an internal or external command. IT KEEPS ON SAYING THIS NO MATTER WHAT PLEASES HELP AANYYYYYBOOOOODYYYY

  • @specops987 same problem :/

  • OPERA FTWWWW!

  • Invalid or Corrupt Java file?

  • What causes your computer to be I:\ instead of C:\. Is it a European thing?

  • @silentclowd It's not a European thing. I'm from Denmark and I have C:\ too. Maybe it's just the computer? ;p

  • @Nzill nah

c:\ is the the localdrive where the os is on but docm has more drives..thats why he has a diffrent letetr for his minecraft dir

  • I know this is stupid, but how do you find out how much RAM you have?

  • Thanks! I think this is very useful for Single Player Comands because if u are deleting 100000 blocks with world edit it always crashes the game. u helped me alot.

  • help please it says "javaw" is not an internal or extearnel command..@#!@#!#

  • Doc, it says unable to access jar file. What does that mean?

  • doc, will it work, if the minecraft on my desktop is a shortcut?

  • How do you find java bin folder path

  • play legendary

  • Wooow thank you Doc :D

  • Optifine mod = FPS Boost

  • @Jiiprahtube it's a mod, it's for people that don't wanne use mods.

  • A quick tip, you can use G for gigabyte instead of using megabytes, so it would be -Xmx4G for 4 gigabytes, ect.

  • Comment removed

  • ty doc =)

  • I accidentally deleted my whole path variable and now I cant do cmd or ipconfig

  • It doesn't work for me... o__o

  • i only have 1.5 gb of ram on my pc... uuuum what do i do?!?

  • @Rageifyable get a new pc...
