Now in days everyone believe is a technician "any" computer enthusiastic/knowledgeable believe they can be a REAL A+ certified technician computer troubleshooting as become a joke for this ("tecnicians") all they do in case on any problem is to reinstall windows and that's it when in reality the are just wanna be technicians
I'm currently working in one of the leading banks in Dubai and until now we are using WinXP Pro. I wonder if US and Canada firms are already using Windows Vista or 7.
Desktop Support Technicians are not in demand like they lead us to believe, the field is so saturated and very difficult (if not impossible) to land a permanent job, u have a better chance winning the lottery.
@urdynamix1 being in the industry of training people to get IT certifications, we try to keep up on the statistics of how in-demand these jobs are. The conclusion we've drawn from statistics is that employers say there are too many jobs and not enough qualified employees to fill them, while employees say there aren't enough jobs available in the industry. There seems to be a major disconnect between employers and employees - the problem is finding that bridge and standing out among the rest.
@LearnKeyVideo The reality is that "Certification Is a Business" and it doesn't translate fully well in the real world, because it's never enough, employers always want more, it used to be that you go for certification while on the job, now seems to be before the job, which hasn't worked out well for anyone, I blame the idiot IT Managers, always looking for more for less, HR Dept are no better. The disconnect will always be there.
@urdynamix1 I currently am doing an IT apprentaceship at a company called Zenos. however the rate that they get people jobs is very high like 95% after completing these qualifications so u just need to know where to look and have the right people behind you really.. ive recently applied for two jobs through Zenos contacts one as an systems administrator and one as a help desk tier 1 support technician and have interviews for both already.
@urdynamix1 There are plenty of jobs for those that have the required skill sets. The trouble I find is finding candidates with the necessary skills. Training, training, training.
