Kalmah and Bodom are both awesome, but there are quite a few MeloDeath bands I prefer. Out of Kalmah and Bodom I'd have to say Kalmah though....

Why do people have to compare them? Apart from both being Finnish and playing roughly the same genre of music, COB and Kalmah don't really have a lot in common. I've seen both of them live multiple times (cause Canada is the only country Kalmah seems to come to), and while I will say that Bodom's stage show is better, neither left me disappointed. Furthermore the guys in Kalmah weren't half as drunk onstage.

They do better then a lot of smaler bands I think. Dream Evil & Sabaton for example SUCK in concert, but are great in studio.

Personally, I think that Kalmah does a pretty good job considering that they aren't very large or popular outside a couple loyal fans.

Alexi can tell you anything about guitar, but these guys just play it; they know nothing of it. Alexi's style has more theory than you recognize. The solo in this song is awful, and Alexi is at least creative enough to touch up his solos live. Kalmah sounds like a dying beast live

Kalmah is a good band, but they're awful live. They're vocalist (which is doing a bang-up job) is the only one that knows what the Hell he's doing. The guitarist is doing nothing but sliding and cradling, and he's even fucking that up! Stoned or not, at least Alexi has an excuse to screw up.
